Giants Still Juicing Their Way To Success

You can take the Barry Bonds off the Giants, but you can't take his drug-using, oversized-craniumed-shadow out of the picture. Jose Guillen, strangely left off the Giants' postseason roster (but contributor to the Giants' end-of-season surge), is linked to a federal investigation of HGH shipments. What's more, MLB knew about it, and helped the Giants "adjust" their roster accordingly.

SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco Giants outfielder Jose Guillen, left off the team's postseason roster, is linked to a federal investigation into shipments of performance-enhancing drugs, The New York Times reported on its website Thursday night.

The story, citing several unidentified lawyers, said federal authorities told Major League Baseball they were looking into shipments of human growth hormone, allegedly sent to Guillen's wife in the Bay Area.

That was just before the postseason began, The Times said. Guillen was left off the Giants' roster for all three rounds because of a nagging neck injury, according to manager Bruce Bochy. According to The Times, the Giants were told to leave Guillen off the roster by Major League Baseball.

A person in Major League Baseball confirmed the investigation to The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the probe was ongoing.

"I don't know anything about it and right now I don't have a comment," Bochy said.

Jay Reisinger, Guillen's attorney, also declined comment in an e-mail. San Francisco beat the Texas Rangers 9-0 on Thursday night for a 2-0 lead in the World Series.

Yet another shadow of cheating and impropriety for the Giants. What a surprise.

This seems like a non-story. I'm sure he didn't start juicing in the few months he was with the Giants, and I'm sure the Giants didn't acquire him knowing that he was juicing.

Is it so bad if SF wins it all?

@Greg:

Yes.

What if they were trouncing the Yankees instead?

Giants and Yankees in the World Series?
Hah, as if Satan's forces would actually do battle with each other.

I laugh. HA!

Dusty Baker said...

@ Greg Photo

Yes, indeed.

Spanky said...

Maybe we should throw Greg Photo in the fire with Josh and the Sons. What do you say,Mr.F?

MR. F said...

I think the "momentary doubters" (Greg Photo, Josh S.) need to be separated from "those loyal to the end" (presumably the Sons, bear cub, Jasmine, ex-girlfriends, Owl). Grouping them all together would result in an impure sacrifice.

Oh don't worry MRLASC, I'm still all for killing them.

For the last time:

I was briefly OK with them winning the NLCS because of my raw, burning hatred of the Phillies. It was a serious gamble, and one that is so far not paying off. What the hell happened to the American League being so dominant?! MAINSTREAM MEDIA WOULDN'T LIE TO ME, WOULD IT?!

Spanky said...

My fucking unloyal @#$! ex belongs with Josh and Greg Photo.

MR. F said...

I'll add her to the list, Spanky.

Josh S. (and Greg Photo): I have no doubts that you want the Giants to lose this series. But sacrifices must be made. I'm sure you know that it is for the greater good.

this could also explain all of the old aging, end of their career hitters who "magically" found the ability to hit again once they arrived in SF.

Why do you guys hate the Giants so much?

That guy-beating-our-catcher-with-a-baseball-bat thing was SO five decades ago ... :P

@Greg Photo

Because this picture would then be outdated: http://bit.ly/9NPKR9

Now if you'd just step this way please to where you can smell 11 distinct herbs and spices...

Are you just trying to wind us up, Photo?

I'm confused as to whether Mr.F is performing a sacrifice or making a main course of a combo dinner with biscuits, mashed potatoes and cole slaw.

MR. F said...

My sources tell me that the baseball gods prefer tasty sacrifices. It can only help to please them.

I'll just say I hate the Giants cause their fans taunted me with beat LA when I was five fuckin years old.

If the Giants win, Myself, Dusty, Mr. C and Spanky will cover the boys 2 men hit "it is so hard to say goodbye to yesterday".

I think we are opening for Sax who plans to cover sitting on the dock of the bay with a new triangle solo.

Candlestick was a bitter fucking hellhole, for all the chardonay sipping at the phone both, it's helpful to remember that underneath the façade, they're still belligerent pricks at heart.

MLASF will be making a power point lecture called "Hating the Giants in the new age."

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

It will have funny graphics of Calvin peeing on Fatso.

Paul said...

Josh S will be leading an open hearted discussion on when he realized he was just born to hate the Giants.

Mr. F and Karina will be covering something angry from the white stripes like "dead leaves and the dirty ground"

Finally Neeebs will lead a class on hating the giants through the creative outlet of interperitive dance.

The post loser giants conference will have something for everyone.

I wasn't even born but truth is Marichal looked for a fight with Roseboro, because Sandy Koufax (a real gentleman) wasn't interested in retaliation. Let's not forget Roseboro was the catcher of four Dodgers teams who went into the World Series, he even hit a homer against White Ford in the WS! he's truly one of the Dodgers greats. As for Koufax, anyone who even has a bad thought about him, let alone hurt him, deserves all my HATE.

Let's do a quick recap:

a) Shot 'Heard 'Round the World my parents weren't even born but STILL. There's documentation that the Giants cheated on that season, I guess that's why they still worship Bonds, but stealing signs is unforgivable.

b) Giants fan who threw a helmet at Reggie Smith. CLASSY, at least any Dodgers fans haven't been accused of such foul behavior. In this category we can can include the idiots who taunted Paul just because he wore a Dodgers jacket (when we are already established Paul was an engaging child).Other Giants fans threw beer at Karen and her brother, just because they were CHILDREN rooting for the Dodgers.

c) it seems no one needs more reasons to hate Joe Morgan, but remember him in the last game of 1982 *weeps*

d) 1997: Dodgers dominated almost of the season, to lose the division race against The Giants, who won two games in September, getting the division. There's not enough hate to me for you, Brian Johnson. Cried like a kid when I saw it the other day (those dark pre-Internet days)

e) When both teams played in NY, Giants fans were the snobs and the Brooklyn fans were the working class types. Now, they joke about Dodgers being "so Hollywood", but they are "Hipsterville" which means they are still snobs.

f) McCovey Chronicles, a place where they say f*&^ Vin Scully and making jokes about necrophilia. NO ONE messes with Vin Scully.

I could go on and on, but that's too much hate for a Saturday. My love for the Dodgers prevents me from nothing less than pure hate towards the SF Giants.
