What time does Twins/Yankees start?
Is that a challenge, Josh S? I mean, a challenge for us to generate inane comments re baseball so as to prove you wrong?
Alas, I think you are correct. Challenge canceled.
187 on yesterday's Mega Thread.
I mean that's how many comments there were.
Hope Colston's rob is okay; I need some points out of him.
Pretty widely reported now that Dodgers have signed Tim Wallach to another contract and that he will likely be moved up to the big leagues to play some role there (hitting coach)?
DB,
Let's hope that's true. The last hitting coach sucked.
Oh wait. . .
And I may be late to comment on this, but just let me tell you how happy I was Friday night about the time I saw kayakers in McCovey Cove fishing out a baseball.
Suck it Gnats.
I remember that classic "Ultra-Thread vs. Mothra." Great flick.
And then Podszilla came in and kicked both they asses until he came down with plantar fasciatis.
^fasciitis
So when do the Mormons get here?
This is an LDS thread, right?
Epale Y'all
Are you ready for some football?
Good morning, fellow village idiots!
KFP out of the lineup for Jints.
Who's got the Alka-Seltzer?
*desperately tries to open both eyes at the same time*
Peyton Manning on the telly right off the bat this morning. Come on, 4 TDs, no whammys!
Holy shit, Spero Dedes is calling Colts/Chiefs!
I know, MLASF, it freaked me out. In a good way.
#Lakers
Fuck, Where's the remote?
Look in the fridge for the remote, Spank.
Wagner out. Saito-san in for Dirty South.
@Spanky since you threatened me with your big toenail, I won't help you with your hangover :(
What night last night!I should have stayed here snarking
I just came across this on tumblr, it might amuse you:
12 completely unnecessary (like Giants fans) books
http://bit.ly/bQbjml
well, my bday is coming up, I wouldn't mind if I receive a copy of "How to avoid huge ships, second edition"
Epale Karina
What did you get into, Karina?
Rays up 1-0 bottom 2nd.
There is a baseball game on right now?
(pukes)
There sure is, Spanky. This is the freakin' ULTRA-THREAD!
It's the mother of all mother's.
Am I supposed to have a pic of my dog as my avatar? I feel left out.
*eats lunch by himself in school cafeteria*
It's going to be a dog day afternoon
@DB - Join the club. It's time to add Frankie to the mix.
I was thinking of taking a pic of a neighborhood mutt and use it as my avatar just to fit in
*sits under a tree alone*
@Spank
One of your many fish will do.
So I had Sammy as my avatar this whole time and he wasn't even on the roster? Did I jinx BWag?
Frankie up in dis bish.
DB - Frankie is a handsome boy!
Cheers, MB. He's a fine lad.
Colts/Chiefs is a battle of ineptitude.
No pics of dogs for my avi.
*steals someone's lunch money*
Did someone say fish?
@Spank
Cool, what are they? Are you raising them for your fish runs or consumption?
Tejas is choking
@ Meanie
2 goldfish,a dragon tailed koi,and a ghost fish.I had a second Ghost fish the size of a hand that went to the great aquarium in the sky on Friday.
Sorry for the loss of your ghost fish :(
Sorry for your loss, Spanky.
Hello CJ!
@Mr LA SF: I'd also been considering the LDS - Mormon connection but couldn't figure out how to rope that into a thread...
I'm so sorry for you loss of your lovely Ghost Fish, Spank.
I'm also sorry for any upcoming loss you might face too. Notice I'm talking in hypothetical terms.
^the
By the way, I've been up in NoCal this weekend, asking the few Giants fans I see if that Game 2 was a crushing backbreaker or an instantaneous deathblow.
Their choice.
Do your fishes have names, Spanky?
@Sax
What's the reaction been when you've posed the question?
God dang, AL games are slow.
Longo goes long and the Rays are in the driver's seat.
@ Karinas 11:47 comment
*extends the middle finger*
No names for fish.That is to hardcore.
@Steve Sax 11:49 AM this is official, I love you.
@Sax, 11:47: Perhaps a crack about Giants fans wetting their undergarments?
Beer status: Sam Adams Octoberfest
Dusty a couple of things: Frankie is a very cool and gorgeous pup! and about last night, the problem was almost everyone was getting into deep trouble but me. I'm a nice and well-behaved girl.
Example: drunken guy groping every women in every lady part possible, I hit and pushed him a couple of times, but in the end, guy was so violent he broke everything fragile at his hand and his younger brother's forehead with JUST ONE punch. Everything went downhill from there and my friend wouldn't open the door :(
Spanky, you can still win, at least you're not Paul, Mr C is murdering Paul's team, it's very sad
Mark Clayton got carted off the field.
(cries)
Whoa, K! What a night. Yikes.
Sounds like a crowd you maybe shouldn't run with in the future given the violence and the lady part grabbing.
@karina
Sounds like quite an "adventure".
The FF score isn't quite as bad as is seems, all but one of my players are in the early game
Thanks for the pep talk Karina. Unfortunately the reality is that I only have my QB and K left to play.I threw the dice and crapped out.
@ Meanie
"Mark Clayton got carted off"
(cries alongside)
So far Brandon Lloyd has been my only bright spot in the early games. The rest of my team is curled in the fetal position.
How's the hangover, MB?
DB
Once I started to drink again I felt fine. Thanks for asking ;~)
Funny how that works, MB.
Greetings Boys and Girls!!
Looks like I've come in late today
@Spanky--I'm so sorry about your loss
@Dusty Baker--Frankie is a very handsome dude. My pug is Karleigh. I'll make her my next avi
@MB--Nikkita's eyes look like a hypnotic blue. She's beautiful
@Karina--The mother in me came out when I read about what happened last night. I agree with DB. This does not sound like a good crowd to be hanging with
GO BRAVES. Jeez, that feels weird to say.
Epale Karen
It's rather laid-back today. You're not late. Welcome to the fray.
Dusty Blue is handsome. I can only imagine Karleigh. The pic of Nikita is old. I've got to get a better one. Baron is next if I can get him to pose. This blog is turning into the pets of SoSG.
@Karen
I usually have a mind like a steel trap (unless it's remembering Mrs Dusty's grocery list). Did you tell me before that you had a pug? If so, I misplaced that bit of knowledge but will now re-file it.
@DB--I mentioned it when Frankie was having to have his eye drops. I think we talked about pugs and their eye problems
@Karen
Ah, right. I remember now. Sorry for that.
BTW the intense eyedrop regimen that took about 2.54 yrs off my life ended up working well. There's hardly even any scarring on his eye. He's still a bug-eyed freak, though!
I sure hope that by rooting for the Rangers I haven't brought the Dodger curse down upon them.
@Karen
The Rangers fans are absolutely ecstatic that they have made it this far. You couldn't put a curse on them as there has been one on them for so many years. It looks like it has finally lifted.
@DB--I had my first pug when I lived in Palm Springs. She got sand in her eye and it scratched her retina. She ended up losing her sight in that eye but it never slowed her down. I'm glad things turned out so well with Frankie's eye adventure.
Damn gotta go run an errand. Spit out some HATE for me Y'all.
Thanks for the nice words about the fish.
@Karen
When Frankie was a puppy, one of our cats scratched him in the eye. Nearly lost the eye but worked out okay in the end. Still has deep scarring there. SInce then of course we've made sure the cats' claws were trimmed. The recent injury happened in the OTHER eye so we were not happy that he had the potential to have not one but two scarred retinas.
Rays take game 4. Strange series. Who wants this?
@DB
Makes me think of the Tim McGraw song - How bad do you want it?
@DB--No wonder this last problem took 2.54 years off your life!
Regret that I'm not up on my Tim McGraw.
Even though I'm rooting for the Braves, I have to say, I hate that tomahawk chop!
@MB--I thought I was the only country music fan here
My last 2 players already have as many points as the rest of my team
(cries)
Karen, I'm all over the board.
I know my country up until about 1993. So, the good country before it got all poppy and over-produced.
Vince Young is getting off!
^Also before country got so damned pro-war, jingoistic, with us or you're a terrorist, wearing yellow ribbons kind of stuff.
Given the last comment I can tell you're definitely not a fan of Toby Keith.
@MB
That's exactly who I was thinking of!
Tim Hudson looks a bit flustered to start the game.
@DB
He's from Oklahoma. The man can't help himself.
@MB
That's exactly why I live thousands of miles from Oklahoma! Can't get far enough away from that shitheap.
@DB
At least Arkansas is beautiful! Agreed that OK is a shit hole.
Also, OK has 3.2% alcohol beer. Enough reason to hate Hate HATE!
What up Oprah!
Heyward is not good
Lee on, McCann up, 2 out, bot 1
Hey Orel!
Cowboy's defense is sucking today. I'm ready to drop kick the whole bunch from Arlinton to Plano.
^Arlington
From Katy to Waco
Hey Karen, cute pup! Love the canine energy around here.
So, who has that Packers kicker who missed the last-minute FG?
Giants left the bases loaded in the 1st? Against Hudson???
Fontenot triple. Great.
Fuck
Epale Orel - nobody has fessed up to having the GB kicker.
@Spank
Katy is part of Houston. Is that what you meant to say?
No, I was just name dropping
Heyward 2 inches from making that catch.
Ha ha, MB. Was at the gym and saw some random dude curse as the kick was missed. Automatically assumed he was in a FF league.
Bobby Cox jogs pretty well for an old guy.
Brooks Conrad, you doofus. 1-0 Giants.
T. Hudson with the full layout catch of Sanchez's bunt!
Orel - hat's off for hitting the gym today. Satan's sister is drinking to chase away last night's hangover. I need to be at the gym. You are an inspiration ;~)
nice play hudson
What the hell is happening to Dallas?
Screw the Giants - both baseball and football.
Romo is going to have one helluva long day. This calls for more wine.
Nice to see the Giants and Braves fighting for the privilege of getting steamrolled by the Phillies.
Did Cowboys really just have a 4th and 31?
I saw a 3rd and 34ytg
Thanks, MB. Sunday is yoga day, so there was enough eye candy to keep me entertained.
@Mr C @Dusty @karen don't worry, those people were HER friends not mine. Anyhow, it was her farewell party, she's moving to Canada.
Karen, you have a great good-looking pup.
I've found another similitude between us: it seems lots of us wear glasses and it also seems a lot of us are pet lovers too!
My kudos to you Orel, working out on Sunday, eye candy or not!
Brees threw an INT. Asshole
Hudson throwing fewer strikes than Dotel.
How many pitches does Hudson have?
You know your team sucks when your kicker leads the team in points
Jonathan Sanchez won't hold the Braves scoreless. Can't happen.
Dee-Ahz not Die-Ass
@Spank
Actually it is pronounced the first way. That's the way his family says Diaz. Weird, I know.
Wake up, Atlanta offense!
@ Dusty
I know.I'm directing my comments at him. I've never heard anyone pronounce their name like that
What is this Captain Morgan Lime Bite stuff? You pour it in your beer? Sounds gross.
On the other hand, sounds like fun.
I'm drinking tea right now. I should probably switch to beer, no?
@Orel - you can bet if we ever have a yoga class together I will have my eye on you while in downward dog :~)
Glad you enjoyed the sights.
@Spank
*steps out of way*
*encourages negative comments directed toward Diaz*
Guys, one question before the action starts:
is it weird to want to learn country music so bad and at the same time, being lukewarm about the music itself?
Is that Bigelow Green Tea you're having, Orel?
@Orel I'm going to prepare my fifth cup of tea of the day, it's only 5 pm
Posey reaches on a squibber off Hudson's glove. Great.
@Karina
The more you drink the more country becomes enjoyable.
Tom Verducci holds his mic like a bouquet of flowers.
Strikeout. even better
But my DD is terrible! I will sweat and grunt a lot to distract.
No Bigelow, some herbal something or other. But only because we're out of Trader Joe's decaf green.
UJTD
@Karina "is it weird to want to learn country music so bad and at the same time, being lukewarm about the music itself?"
Is it weird to want to be Willie Nelson while not particularly liking his music?
Braves coming up to bat. Redeem theyself!
@Oreal I meant learning to dance country music :(
@ Karina
I can do the Achy Breaky
@Karina
Dancing to it is far more enjoyable than the music itself. The same rule applies; the more you drink the more enjoyable it becomes.
I can't picture you line dancing, Karina.
@Karina--I don't think it's weird. The dances are alot of fun.
It would be funny to hear Josh or Mr C say "The dances are a lot of fun."
Cowboys climbed back in it thanks to a TD by R Williams, who was, coincidentally, a last second add to my fantasy team.
@DB - Don't think that your move went unnoticed.
Hello everybody.
Are dog avatars the new "in" thing?
@DB--I guess it must be a girl thing.
Greetings MrF!!
SoSG Fest 2: line dancing?
Epale Mr. F
You should add TJ as your avatar and join the crowd. The bear sort of counts.
@Orel
Line dancing and Two Stepping only after the crowd has been liquored up.
Bravo bats need to find their mojo
Sanchez is pulling a Lincecum.
Oh, there will be liquoring up.
"SoSG Fest 2: line dancing"
*shivers*
There is not enough liquor in the world to get me to participate in such an undertaking.
@DB "There is not enough liquor in the world to get me to participate in such an undertaking."
I view this as a challenge.
@Orel
I would definitely head out to CA to catch it. That is, if the sons deemed me worthy to attend. My essays leave a lot to be desired.
Oh MB. I would but then that would require me to change my avatar, and I just can't do that!
@Orel
I will accept your challenge.
@Spanky Achy Breaky?
@Dusty Baker I was in dancing classes since I was 3 'till 17, so I guarantee this girl doesn't know about two left foot and lack of coordination
@karen dancing is fun, all the time!
Also Dusty, I'm under the impression Mr C doesn't dance, like, ever.
Mr F has almost never changed his avatar. That would definitely send ripples through the force if he did so.
@Mr.F
I can accept that. Does your bear have a name?
Mr F, is your avatar part of a promise?
Sometimes Mr C and I have a nice slow dance together.
It's weird to see Marion Barber wear pink gloves.
@ karina
It's a dance. You Tube it
Did you lend Barber yours Meanie?
We need to harness our HATE people! The Braves are letting this one slip away!
FUCK YOU DIE-ASS
They look like the liners I wear with my pink boxing gloves.
MB is a happy camper with that Romo to Austin touchdown as both are on my fantasy team ;~)))
Did realize Sanchez was throwing a no-hitter until Dylan Hernandez tweeted it.
That's right A NO-HITTER.
Er, didn't.
A Sanchez no hitter is totally unacceptable. Things have got to change.
@Dusty Baker no wonder sometimes Mr C's toes are in pain
WTF are you swinging at DUMMY
No-hitters in the post-season is a weird trend, right Sanchez?
my fantasy team has gone to the dogs.
@Karina
What is your favorite type of dance?
Come on, Braves! If I wanted to watch a spineless, inept offense this bad I'd just watch old Dodger games from the 2010 season.
Sniped!
Karen is right, folks. Channel the hate! Feel it - hate it!
The story of my life.
AT&T: For people made of paper.
We surpassed yesterday's comment total from the Mega-Thread.
I suppose I can share the story of avatar.
The bear has a name(a Gund stuffed animal) has a name, but I forgot what it really is. It involves the word "snow" in some form. Anyway, it sat in my high school English teacher's classroom. I had this teacher for 2 consecutive periods, and I grew into the habit of taking the bear and keeping it at my desk for 2 hours as a sort of security blanket. High school tested my sanity, so I found having the bear helped me cope. Yes, my friends thought I was insane. Due to how I always had it with me in class, one of my friends named it after me and dubbed it: "Patricito", Little Patrick. So that's what I know it as. I find it to be an appropriate avatar to this day, and I simply cannot bear the thought of ever changing it.
Who is the Giants' equivalent of Logan White? Lincecum, Posey, etc. — good drafting.
@Mr. F
So it is. Patricito is officially part of the SoSG family.
