Finish the Limerick

It's time to play "Finish the Limerick"!:

There once was a Juan named Pierre,

Who thought he was treated unfair;

     ____________,

     ____________,

_____________________________!

I'll choose my favorite among the answers, although I may only do so in my head.

then Manny got caught,
and Juanny got hot,
so Coletti traded him for a new player

(hopefully a pitcher)

When Manny was out,
Lil Juan did shout
"It's Beast Mode," to all who care.

Here's my entry:

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair;
    Is he Latin or French?
    On the field or the bench?
To be honest I don't really care.

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair;
But you can't steal first,
And his arm is the worst,
Oh, and three-run home runs? Not a prayer!

Eric Stephen said...

But he still cashed his checks
Which only reflects
About playing he just doesn't care.

EK, I think you're on to something here.

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair,
So he stocked up on roids
Then got some hemorrhoids
Yet he never could grow back his hair

Eric Karros said...

Sax, that doesn't rhyme. Plus you need 2 more lines.

Here's a refresher on the structure of a limerick.

Dr. Geek said...

Dammit! That fourth linei s supposed to read "But only got hemorrhoids."

There once was a Juan named Pierre,

Who thought he was treated unfair;

So he took a chance and framed Manny,

By sticking a giant needle in his fannie,

then grabbed a bat and when on a terror

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair;
but he won't ride the pine,
while Manny does time,
So "JuanPierrewood" shirts we'll all wear.

EK, let me try again.

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair,
But his OPS sucks and he makes the final out of every frickin game stranding a runner in scoring position and he can't throw the ball back to the infield without four bounces so it's hopefully only a matter of time before we see Xavier Paul play.

Neeebs said...

With Manny he sat on the pine

But then Manny was gone, no more whine.

At least Joe no longer worries about Manny's hair.

Neeebs said...

EK: I like the over e'd reference.

See, the new "game" will make the readers forget about the puzzle.

I love it when a plan works.

So far my vote is for Mr. Customer, and not because the Customer is always right.

Steve Sax said...

There once was a Juan named Pierre,

Who thought he was treated unfair,

His OBP's brutal,

And arm's a wet noodle,

They drown out his plea, "Au contraire!"

Mr. Customer said...

Style points to Sax for frenchifying it at the end, there.

Eric Karros said...

Good one Sax. Actually they're all pretty good.

I like that HLaCK's thematically ties back to the first 2 lines about Pierre being treated unfairly.

I like PavilionBum's too.

I feel like my SoSG niche is being infringed upon. Well, here is my weak contribution.

There once was a Juan named Pierre,

Who thought he was treated unfair.
So when he got to play,
The fans he tried to sway.
Still they miss the guy with long hair.

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair;
He wears number 9,
Used to ride on the pine,
But Manny's gone, now we're filled with despair!

QuadSevens said...

I'm late to the party, stupid work. But I got one in anyways.

EK's is awesome, "is he Latin or French" is pure genius.

I can't focus at work so I'm submitting another entry:

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair;
     My boredom's accruing,
     Wait, what was I doing?
I think I'll go eat a pear.

Neeebs said...

Turned out to be a pretty nifty thread, eh?

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair;
he couldn't help to produce infield singles
or get caught stealing when the team needed him the most
a little bit of bad luck (for the team) transformed him into the beast.

lousy, i know

Eric Karros said...

Karina, much better than I could write in spanish.

Mr. Customer gets style points for, in a single motion, both verbing and gerunding the word 'French'.

I think I should get style points for indenting.

Natalie - you're right. Now that Rock of Love is over, I do sort of miss Bret Michaels.

And Neeebs, kudos for inspiring the limerick thread. Though I think I'm enjoying it more than anyone. Here's one more:

  There once was a Juan named Pierre,
  Who thought he was treated unfair;
       He used to get hits;
       But in LA nothing fits;
  'cept the bench with his rich derriere!

There once was a Juan named Pierre,
Who thought he was treated unfair,
Now he gets every start
He's been doing his part
So lay off him while Manny ain't there
