HIROKIWATCH: 1 DAY
Eric Milton (1-0, 3.00) vs. Sean Marshall (3-3, 3.70).
COMMENTS: Forget yesterday's loss. Forget Friday's loss. And forget Sean Marshall. Remember 17 games over .500. Remember the Giants losing yesterday and Jim Tracy's gift to the Dodgers: two consecutive wins over the Padres. And remember Eric Milton's first win.
Sure, the Dodgers are a little beat up right now. Eric Stults is pitching with a sore thumb. Casey Blake is nursing another strained hammy. Rafael Furcal is being handled with kid gloves. But a win today would give the team some momentum when they return home and welcome back Hiroki Kuroda against the Diamondbacks.
So remember to forget and don't forget to remember. Go (Dodger) Blue!

Pierre, LF
Furcal, SS
Hudson, 2B
Martin, C
Loney, 1B
Kemp, CF
Loretta, 3B
Hoffmann, RF
Milton, P
Remember, history indicates a split.
Still no Blake and Ethier sits. Not the most inspiring lineup.
I forget, is the guy batting cleanup today having a good offensive year?
Oh wait. I remember.
Maybe Ethier needs a rest. Hoffman has taken good at bats and i really like Hudson batting fourth.
Giants and Padres won today.
I was just about to commend Orel on his positive spin for today's thread; then he made that last post.
Hoffmann should do well in the Friendly Confines.
Looks like the D-Backs are doing us a favor and throwing Buckner for Monday's welcome home party.
The absence of Blake is the killer. Hoffmann could very well be an upgrade. It's not like Ethier was lighting it up, though he did have a double yesterday.
Martin's batting cleanup?!?
I think someone spiked joe's green tea.
good luck tonight everyone
Marshall struggles in the first inning. Time for one our patented one-run first innings.
lucked out on that one, nice JP
Theriot knocks down Beast Mode's hard grounder and Pierre makes it to first.
"Rafael Forkal"
raffy is back to his homerun swing
nice way to start a national game guys keep it going.
Forkal with a well-placed, slow grounder through first and second! Pierre takes third!
Joe Morgan sounds like Karl Malone's older brother.
the o dog is back baby
base hit
base hit
base hit
Dodgers lead 1-0
Run scored, who'd tell?
3 his in a row; way to go.
What I wouldn't give for a three-run HR right now.
"When the Dodgers score in the first inning, their mark is 28-9"
Time for J-Mart's 1st dinger.
right now would be a great time for a martin HR
Tight zone tonight.
nice russ.
Another single will do! Forkal held at third.
alright loney, think NLDS
Forkal held at 3rd.
4 consecutive hits. Where were these bats yesterday?
Time to pad that RBI lead, James.
Wind blowing in from right. Gonna take a poke to get it out.
maybe we were sent the giants bats on accident for the other games
Lo-dog with the bloop. We're punishing the ball.
King James RBI and Rancho Ardiendo!
Lilly + Dempster shut us down. I think I read Marshall usually works out of the bullpen?
Bison Mode!
blast one, mattie
More singles than a strip club patron.
I'll take that bunch of singles.
Someone looked over matched there.
Kemp has lost a lot of plate discipline.
mattie, come on dude.
embarrass mode
Rimshot for Orel.
I'm new-ish to SoSG game threads. Is it kosher to bash Joe Morgan?
Punished!
get back lorretta!!
Sweet Loretta!
RC,
You'd be punished if you didn't.
"Is it kosher to bash Joe Morgan?"
Welcome, RC. It's kosher everywhere except the Morgan household.
Morgan = satan's step-son
haha, milton might have to bat before he pitches, that doesnt happen everyday.
"Guys who hit homeruns have a tendency to strike out" -JM
Also, guys who attempt steals sometimes get caught.
Batters are getting around on Marshall's fastball.
Hoffmann RBI! 5-0 Dodgers! I like!
RBI for the kid!!
RBI for Hoffmann. Didn't miss that by much.
the gatorade machine is wincing right now
Nine up, three down!
wow, milton gave it a pretty good ride.
Uncle Miltie with a drive.
They should pad that machine very thick.
ok dodgers now just do that 8 more times.
I can understand why he drives some crazy, but I actually don't mind Joe Morgan.
But don't let that stop you from bashing him.
Spotting Miltie 5. Let's see what he can do. Cubs don't support Marshall.
morgan always sounds like he is half in the bag.
I loved the crowd's terrified sigh when Milton took it to the track. 5 run 1st. Awesome!
Apparently the folks who design videogame menus are working for ESPN now.
Nice inning for the Blue. Now Milton has to hold it. Of course if the Dodgers can do that every inning he could pitch from the outfield for all I care.
Soriano has such a whippy swing. He must use a lighter bat.
o-dog, second baseman/ shallow outfielder.
damn there goes milton no-hitter
Miller just pronounced OPS as "opps."
according to espn we have a 85% chance to win. i like those odds
First K!
Bradley on the slow boil.
Milton blows the water bottle right by Milton Bradley.
Phillips actually sounds coherent.
Could be worse, we could have Boomer calling the game.
Air Loretta!
nice snag by loretta!
Nice leaping stab by Loretta.
Is Loretta growing a beard?
im just glad to be done with Buck for the week.
once you take the beards spot in the lineup you automatically start to grow one.
Is it me, or would everyone want to have Mini Sirloin Burger ads rather than hear "Viva Viagra."
damn, it starts.
Hmmm, Sean Marshall ate some Wheaties between innings. K's Pierre.
From Beast to Slappy Mode.
Five pitches, two outs.
"Is it me, or would everyone want to have Mini Sirloin Burger ads rather than hear 'Viva Viagra.' "
Mute button.
Well, they say that baseball is a game of adjustments.
well, the other shoe drops.
thats only the second time this season he has retired batters in order.
Is there a lot of mlb-nascar crossover audience? In LA?
what are the odds that milton and marshal have similar pitch counts after two innings.
"Is there a lot of mlb-nascar crossover audience? In LA?"
Not in this household.
giterdun
"what are the odds that milton and marshal have similar pitch counts after two innings."
Nice find. How odd.
I love the story of the kid who wore the Fukudome jersey to school and almost got suspended.
Unless you like F1, Radical Cleric.
it starts.
I hate Johnson.
Is there a NASCAR race going on? Are they turning left again?
That ball was in the air forever.
That replay shows a very hurt Bison. By the way, that was Johnson second double of the season.
Testing Pierre's arm? Shocking.
johnson 1 - JP 0
Ugh. The weak side of JP surfaces.
F'IN SWEET
the Hof with the ARM!!!!!
Hoffmann with the strong throw.
Jamie Hoffman is my favorite dodger this minute.
That was beautiful! great catch ny Hoffman, great block my son and this is why i love baseball!
Hoffmann with the diving catch, and he doubles up Johnson at the plate. That was awesome.
Great job by Marshall with the catch and tag.
Thanks, Joe.
nice blocking the plate russ.
i love dre but i pretty sure he wouldnt of made that catch.
Hey nic,
Who's this Dre you speak of?
you know, the dre, his bat left when manny was suspended.
Okay, when did Sean Marshall become Cy Young.
Orel, you should put up Andrewatch on these posts too.
BEASTMODE!!!!!!!!!
BISON MODE
Bison HR!
bison style.
Could've used that in the first.
More watches than a Swiss flea market.
thats the matt kemp thats gonna be a superstar one day.
Bison mode.
Nic,
Oh that guy. Loves birds, hates people?
you got it dude.
The Bison is heating up.
My daughter is making chocolate chip cookies. Wish I could share with you all. Instead, I'll eat your for you.
They go well with beer.
nice o dog
rbnlaw - Are you really going to argue with a 6-0 lead, especially when Milton is going to lose velocity by the 5th?
Dodgers with some infield D of their own.
Watch out for Marshal, he can handle the bat.
"My daughter is making chocolate chip cookies. Wish I could share with you all. Instead, I'll eat your for you.
They go well with beer."
Have a plate or two for me, please.
Rbnlaw, that's so sweet of you!
I could eat a couple of those, Paolo Maldini retired today :_( , my AC Milan won't be the same...
Phillips & Morgan having a chicken vs. egg argument. It's pretty interesting.
King James is on beard mode too.
Beer and chocolate chip cookies. That is a hell of a combo.
Anyway, when will Soriano learn how to walk?
Orel,
Done. . .or will be done. Had some of the dough as well.
Ali,
I love the 6-0 lead, but seeing Kemp go deep with men on instead of striking out would be better. If Miltie gets to the 6th, I'd be pleased as punch.
Well, I guess Milton just showed us
Milton lookin' good...
Sure rbn, though Marshall did pretty much do his best pitching in the game in that AB.
Would you buy a brick from the Yankees' Monument park for only...$180?
Man, I need to get stuck in line at the market more often. I missed the whole first inning offensive explosion. I got back in time for the sweet Hoffmann throw, though.
YOU CAN'T HASSLE THE HOFF.
Milton with 41 pitches through three.
"Carlo Ancelotti took a step closer to becoming Chelsea's new manager after he announced his contract at AC Milan has been terminated by mutual consent."
Karina,
I hate Chelsea. I feel your pain.
At least they won today. Did they qualify for Champion's League next year?
I would if i was a Yankee fan.
milton HBP
Miltie gets plunked.
Go ahead and hit our pitcher, Marshall.
damn almost hit JP
Someone want to tell me why Marshall is throwing a breaking ball to Milton in the first place?
Orel,
Only if I could throw said brick through A-Rod's window when Madonna was having a "sleep-over."
two hits right to the glove.
It's Raf-i-el Forcal
The more Pierre does a Chone Figgins impersonation, the happier I am. Too bad Pierre can't throw like Figgins.
Marshall is the perfect guy for Raffy to try and break out against. Basically a Barry Zito clone.
Think with yer dipstick, Jimmy!
"Orel,
Only if I could throw said brick through A-Rod's window when Madonna was having a 'sleep-over.' "
Are they still an item? If so, throw away.
Torre with the props for Tron on national TV!
Rbnlaw, AC Milan are on the Champions League. However, Ancelotti wasn't having the greatest of time coaching the team, specially when he was underachieving with the great amount of talent on his hands. Though, to give Ancelotti's credit, the injury plagued season of Gattuso affected the team very badly.
Joe show'in Ramon the love as his 'surprise of the year'. How about Ronny Belisario making the team for a pleasant surprise? Or Manny taking lady 'roids?
Keep that ball away from Uncle Milty Eric.
I can't believe the Dodgers will have back to back Sunday Night Baseball.
True, but he did find a way to get Becks to stick around until now.
I'd rather have him at Chelsea than Guus Heddink.
Bison Glove!
Wow, Lee crushed that one, but Kemp snags it on the warning track.
Bison Glove Mode
I too am pleased with Troncaso.
kershaw in relief? serious?
Who the hell is talking about Kershaw in relief?
also Karina,
My son plays for AC Brea here in OC. Same colors and stripes as Milan.
I'll admit, my favorite Italian team is Palermo just because of those uniforms.
i hate reed johnson.
Morgan is half in the bag.
"I too am pleased with Troncaso."
Tronqueso?
thats what im thinking.
My goodness Soto sucks this year.
Nic - Who talked about Kershaw in relief?
Raymon Tancredo is my favorite baseball player. I am pleased with him.
Does Wrigley have the worst lighting in the big leagues? Seems like it. Arlington would be next worst.
Kuroda's return pushed Kershaw's turn back one day. I think Torre was maybe anticipating what to do if Milton got shelled early.
morgan i think it was, when kuroda comes back.
im not sure if it was info he was getting or just an opinion.
Traycon Reynoss? We have that guy?
Can't remember where I read that, unfortunately. Maybe DT.
Miller and Morgan were speculating that Kershaw would come out of the rotation when Kuroda got back. HA!
"Traycon Reynoss? We have that guy?"
No, he's the bounty hunter from Ord Mantell.
This team is suffering since they lost Ramirez.
Who knew that it would be the Cubs, not the Dodgers?
rbwlaw - Given the way they had to go about putting the lights in at Wrigley, it is understandable. Arlington has no excuse.
As for Kershaw in relief, that would be idiotic.
Sorry, I meant Traycon Reynoso.
Everyone knows who Reynoss is.
loney with a gapper.
Lone Dog!
Lo-Dogg with the gapper.
King James RBI double!
bring on the gulls!
Sweet Lou has the hook.
LONEY MODE
Boo birds at Wrigley for Marshall.
poor guy
I feel cheap for doing that. . .over it.
