Eric Milton (0-0, 4.50) vs. Aaron Cook (3-1, 4.68).
COMMENTS:
SoSG Sax: Hi, Eric. What's happening? We need to talk about your ERA reports.
Eric Milton: Yeah. My last start. I know, I know. Uh, Joe talked to me about it.
SoSG Sax: Yeah. Did you get that memo?
Eric Milton: Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy, I need to last more than four innings and not give up the lead twice when I start a game. And the problem is just that I forgot the one time (which was my first start in two years following Tommy John surgery). And sure, you're starting me at Coors Field against a guy who pitched a four-hit shutout in his last start, but it's okay. I've already taken care of it, working out the kinks in my delivery and all, so it's not even really a problem anymore.
SoSG Sax: Uh,......yeah. It's just we're expecting better results on all of our ERA reports from our starting pitchers. So if you could go ahead and try to remember to last longer than four innings from now on, that'd be great. Or it's back to a windowless room in the basement for you, Milton--without your red stapler this time. All right!

Let's just hope our bats can set Coors Field on fire tonight.
Milton: Orel, I'll put strychnine in your guacamole.
Q7: Did it come with all 37 pieces of flair?
I was thinking... what if you pierced your ears, or nose, or eye brow, or nether regions, with flair... would that count or would it be a bit too much?
Buttons were the only thing the Special Edition didn't come with! It had a pen and pencil set, Initech T.P.S. Report Cover Sheet notepad, mousepad, coffee mug, and the red stapler.
Would anyone at your job say "Somebody has a case of the Tuesdays"?
Someone's locker is going to get moved to the basement.
Manny, what would you do with 25 million dollars?
Wait, don't answer that.
"Milton: Orel, I'll put strychnine in your guacamole."
Lo siento mucho, seƱor, but your beef is with Sax.
Pierre, LF
Hudson, 2B
Ethier, RF
Blake, 3B
Loney, 1B
Kemp, CF
Castro, SS
Ausmus, C
Milton, P
Furcal still resting his back. Martin gets a day off.
Ethier at .256 is the only batter below .290 in the lineup (save Milton, of course)
Ethier hitting third behind Casey - i like it!
i meant "in front of" of course
it's time for dodger baseball...
And here we go!
Beast Mode stays on fire with a leadoff single!
Beast Mode is every mode.
O-Dog takes a walk. Two on, no out.
Lots of laker fans in the crowd
Ethier should get a meatball to hit here
WOW!!! Bases juiced on an error by Tulu.
That was a lucky break for the Dodgers.
well at least we scored...
Bad throw by Cook, but the second baseman still could have had that. Cook gets the error.
Beard Mode with the RBI DP
Blake with the RBI DP. Pretty unsatisfying.
F'ing Gameday is still trying to make sense of it all.
Another one-run-but-it-could-have-been-so-much-more inning.
That was an unsatisfying inning.
Gameday finally figured it all out.
LeBron with the sweet behind-the-back pass to Varejao!
leads are good, but we gotta stay after Cook
nice crowd, Denver
Cook just pounds the zone. The Dodgers should go Nomar on him
Gameday froze.
Epale guys!
You're influencing me. Last night, i dreamed the Lakers won last night game. I felt disappointed when i saw the results.
Nice, easy inning for Milton
there's one, Eric, 6 more to go...
Yes, if we could only dream our teams to victory.
Orel, if our teams always win, it could be boring. I wouldn't trade the different array of emotions my teams give me through the season, i guess that is half the charm.
"The Dartmouth Dandy: Brad Ausmus"
A nickname that is sure to instill fear in any pitcher he faces.
bases loaded no outs in the first, and we only score one run? ouch.
1-0 Dodgers, after one and a half
Cook looking a little better than Milton right now.
Cook looks too dominant for my taste.
Mr LA SF and Orel: you can't get an rbi if you hit into a dp, right?
Milton. Not good.
Men at first and second, no out for the Rockies
who is able to go a few innings? Tron-Tron probably?
Not according to MLB, but according to me
Someone remind me again why we have FOUR LHSP?
no rbi for a dp
The OS at Coors said no RBI. I think it is up to them.
Nice throw by Kemp to hold the runners.
Respect the arm baby.
"Orel, if our teams always win, it could be boring. I wouldn't trade the different array of emotions my teams give me through the season, i guess that is half the charm."
You are mature in ways I could never be, Karina.
Whew, bullet right to Loney.
"Mr LA SF and Orel: you can't get an rbi if you hit into a dp, right?"
Correct. No ribbie for Blake.
Barmes and Yorvit go down...
Cook is putting up quite an AB here for a pitcher
Miltie escapes!
attaboy Milty. way to work out of that one
Shaky inning by Milton. I cringe to think what is going to happen as he goes through the lineup again. His curve is working, but the fastball is not.
Milton at 35 pitches.
The Cook is goosed! Milton escapes the jam.
Cook at only 19 pitches through two
Cook is a tough AB. 7 pitch K.
Wow. The ump gifted that one to Cook
What was up with the only-one-weekend-of-interleague-play thingy, anyway?
foul bunt? huh? slappy?
I want at least one patented Beast Mode pop bunt double over the 3B this year.
Sax - With the new CPU scheduling, I think it is a lot more random now. Hence all the weird 2 game series' and oddly place road trips.
Come on Andre, mash one
O-Dog hasn't stolen a base in a really long time. I don't get that.
'Dre has dined on Cook this year.
Wow. Cook reached back on that one.
that was no strike, blue
Alireza, where did you read it's CPU scheduling? That's news to me.
Though I do recall teh wacky two-game series ever since interleague play started. I really believe we shoudl retire interleague play for five years or so, I think the novelty has worn off a bit and we should get rid of it.
The two-day SD series separated by off days on both ends (June 9-10) just looks patently absurd.
Andre: mash one = hit a home run. Not, get called out on strikes.
"You are mature in ways I could never be, Karina."
There are people who wouldn't agree with you, Orel. Specially my girlfriends...
O-Dog is not a natural base-stealer. I think his career high is ten.
$9 tickets for certain dates (I didn't get which)
dodgers.com/esavers
promo code: HUDSON13
6/2, 6/4 and 6/9
Of all people, Milton K's Helton twice.
So, In terms of what kind of fan I am...what is it if I have the MLB Extra Innings package on my cable, yet watch it on my computer because the computer has the LA feed and Vinny and my cable has only the Colorado feed?
It has been a good game for him so far, it's almost impressive if we count he's pitching at Coors Field.
Casey going the long way!
Sax - I read about it recently. As for IL play, I completely disagree. The Freeway series still has tons of novelty and it gives a nice balance.
BEARD MODE. That is out at Chavez Ravine.
---->
with a double! Nice.
productive out
Dear Loney:
That is the only time it is acceptable to roll over a 4-3 ground out.
unproductive out
The $9 seats are in reserve/lower reserve. Eh.
Well, that was a wasted inning.
damn
Anyone ever enter the kacl 9 locker combo contest - and has anyone ever won?
Spilborghs nickname is Spilly apparently
gotta make that play, Milty
Andrew - TRUE FAN. Gotta love ya some Vin.
"There are people who wouldn't agree with you, Orel. Specially my girlfriends..."
We'll need photographic proof of this.
"R. Spielborgs singles on a soft ground ball tp pitcher"
It sounds embarrassing.
Milton's velocity appears to be dropping. Not a good sign.
100!
On the plus side, Milton is absolutely pounding the strike zone.
Double pickoff on Gameday. Might that be a pick?
Great way to end an inning.
keep it goin, Milty!
Don't mess with the lefty.
Well, which relievers went yesterday? Weaver, Ohman, Belisario and Mota.
That leaves Troncoso, Wade and Leach—all pitchers who usually come in with a lead. Ohman could probably also go.
Livan Hernandez picked up where he left off in LA: CG, 1R
Big Papi batting sixth.
"We'll need photographic proof of this."
We are taught to be private in catholic school, you know.
Ausmus continues to be steady off the bench.
Nice bunt, Milty. can you teach that to Bills?
Really Milton? You couldn't pull that first one back?
Slow runner at second, one out. He should score, move him!
Time to enter Beast Mode.
Aaron Cook, meet Derek Lowe.
Beast Mode couldn't come through
"We are taught to be private in catholic school, you know."
All I can think of is Doubt.
"We are taught to be private in catholic school, you know."
It sounds like a line in a porno.
Cook is in an early 3-0 hole. His location has been spotty all game.
Bow-chicka-bow-wow!
RANCHO ARDIENDO!
Bases loaded - 2 outs.
Ethier walks. Apodaca.
LMAO!
Apodaca
Rip it Beard Mode.
Apodaca?
Cook can't find the strike zone
Apodaca!
Everytime Vin says that name, we crack up over here.
BEARD MODE
BEARDOCITY!
BEARD MODE!
4-0 Dodgers
jus he just hit a double there his last at bat.
viva la beard
bases-clearing double!!!
BEARDAMONGA.
Just how close was that to being a slam?
He gets 3 rbi for that, which makes up for his non-rbi earlier
It seems tough to hit one out of Coors.
Ali, he hit the bottom of the wall in left center
i guess that humidor is working.
Beard redeemed himself
oops
and milton begins a wiltin'
Well. Barmes ruined the fun.
pitches should be kept down when you dont throw very fast, Milty
Penos - Since the humidor, the homers don't fly like they once did. The benefit is that you get a ton of 2B and 3B at Coors now because of how big the place is.
Damn, how does the catcher get a bunt-single?
i have a feeling this is where things start to fall apart.
Geez, take your time, Milton.
that was the pitcher
Not the catcher, that was Cook who bunt-singled.
What an interesting sequence. The pitcher gets a shock bunt hit and the speed demon beats out the DP.
I can't see Milton going much longer. Hopefully he is able to get out of the 6th quickly and turn it over to the 'pen for the 7th.
My hit-list: Cody Ross, Chris Andersen, Clint Barmes.
It probably has something to do with their first names starting with "C"
1 run through 5 at Colorado. i like it Milty. do you have another in you?
You mean this humidor?
http://tinyurl.com/ryah67
CLE 63, ORL 60 in the third.
Five innings from Milton--not bad
Nice find, Karina!
Karina, that one's funny, but try this.
http://tinyurl.com/qdzojw
I think the Dodgers are happy they brought along The Most Interesting Mode in the World.
Ok seriously. To whom have Juan Castro and Brad Ausmus sold their souls?
With Castro going he stays out of the DP.
Milton's AB doesn't have to wait for the next inning
Milton at 75 pitches.
I am glad that inning went down that way too Sax. This way, Torre won't be inclined to do something really stupid.
Wade warming in the pen.
he gave you another inning, Milty. Make him look smart
Mr LASF, that ad is hilarious:
did you? did you touch that? yeah, i touched it
Milton's velocity has gone from 90 to 86. He is obviously not at full strength.
Argh. No one better than Helton at wearing a pitcher out.
Thanks, Eric. Great one to build on
That was a bit of a wasted opportunity with Castro at second.
Gotta go guys. Hope we pull this out! Oh and the obligatory GO BLUE!
Nice work by Milton.
Given the quick hook, shouldn't we have batted for Milton in the top of the sixth?
gnite AC
Cmon Cory. Show us you are OK
i was thinking the same thing, Saxy. Joe's done that a few times this season
Fred's Brim - Wade's FIP is significantly better than his ERA.
The Rockies have the funniest commercials. There's also one about what Dinger does in the office and a mound visit at a wedding.
Well, Gameday says Wade just got screwed out of 2 strikes.
"Given the quick hook, shouldn't we have batted for Milton in the top of the sixth?"
Probably not, with 13 pitchers meaning one fewer bench player.
Wade has really been freaking me out lately. Last year he would always get first pitch strike. His control has been shaky to say the least.
Man. If Wade could develop just one more pitch, he could be insane. He has great movement and location. He also pitches with his head.
Whew, those three pitches were close.
Wade K's Spilborgh (sp?).
nice comeback, Cory. he gave you the gift, now take advantage
Dinger Tipping
MLSF - The pitches the ump called balls, especially the first 2, were actually closer than some of the strikes. The right result happened anyway, because Spillborgs seems to have forgotten that you have to swing to hit.
Ali, I just don't have confidence in him, and I dont see it out of him either. whatever that's worth :)
Wade has lost it.
Ugh, bad job by Wade after getting ahead.
Tron starts throwing.
Tron sighting.
Problem #1 with Wade's approach to that AB - He didn't throw that nasty curve.
Garret Atkins stinks this year.
Vinny's really frustrating me. He keeps saying guys on second will tag on fly-balls to center, but they never do.
Nasty curve~!
