COMMENTS: Welcome, Laker fans! By popular request, Sons of Steve Garvey is happy to present our inaugural Lakers Game Thread. Tonight's starting pitchers are—wait, what's that? THERE ARE NO PITCHERS IN BASKETBALL? Well, will Dinger be at the Pepsi Center? No?
That's it, I'm going to Moe's.

So wait, will there be Dodgers at the game?
i actually just heard on dodgertalk that about 80% of the traveling staff is going to the game tonight, Suchon was complaining that he wanted to go.
P.S. its nice to have a place to post about the laker game that doesnt consist of people typing in caps lock.
Jax looks pretty intense tonight,
Nic J - agreed. It's nice to chat about the Lakers. It's even better when there isn't a Dodger game on at the same time!
Lakers need to get off to a fast start, and play some damn DEFENSE.
Is it 2-3-2 or 2-2-1-1-1?
22111, 232 doesnt start till the finals
Not even two minutes into the game and the Lakers are already missing their free-throws.
man, they arent freethrows when the lakers are shooting them
How important is Bynum?
bynum makes the team unbeatable
So far Bynum looks important: 2 points, 2 rebounds.
the lakers are already losing all the hustle plays.
i should really do myself a favor and just watch the last quarter of this game.
Ugh, this already looks bad.
Watching the entire game is very stressful
at least bynum is playing well, now the rest of the team needs to wake up.
could be worse, at least the nuggets are only shooting 33%
the bad news is were at 22%
The Lakers have alreaddy forced 4 3-pointers. They have to attack the basket, especially with Bynum doing so well early.
wow, what a shot by fish
Defense anyone? The Nugs are doing whatever they want inside/
Jayson Williams in trouble again.
Jayson Williams needs some serious therapy sessions.
LO in the game, but will he be IN the game.
wow, the refs just made a swing from calling nothing to ticky-tack in less than a quarter.
If the Lakers can keep it within single digits by halftime, they should have a chance.
great ball handeling by kmart, pfff
it seems like that has been the strategy, rope-a-dope
No interior defense for the Lakers. They need to step the defense.
2 for 1 opportunity
KO-BE
Kobe's a stud.
nice finish to an ontherwise ugly first quarter.
hey! a guy from kenya won the marathon, what a surprise.
I hate Chris Andersen.
he never gets called for lose ball fouls. or goaltending.
Damn you Birdman.
Denver has come out with much more energy.
The officiating has felt very one-sided, that is in favor of Denver.
remember when the lakers bench was awesome. i miss that.
the officiating reminds me of game 1
I quit on the first half. I'll be back once the third starts.
Wow, the Birdman looks normal in that ad.
This is starting to get out of control.
maybe the nuggets will tire themselves out dunking the ball.
I take it as a good sign we are only down 11...however it looks questionable as to if the refs will let us get back in this game
we are gonna need some points from the bench,
That 3 second call is horrendous
The refs are just killing the Lakers.
Agreed Nic, the bench needs to step it up.
We are in this game...If this was the Houston series, we woulda been down 20
Andrew, you're right. I don't know what the problem was with Houston. That was a weird series. Right now, the Lakers are hanging around. I would like to see the bench do some scoring, some defense all around and Kobe needs to be Kobe.
Goaltending?
alright gang, no more layups, gotta dunk it.
If Kobe catches fire...watch out.
wow, this has gotta be the worst playoff series in free throw history.
catching up.
9 offensive rebounds for Denver already?
Not good.
where was pau on that play.
thank god bynums back in, lamar was giving us nothing.
and bynums back out, wtf
its amazing that the nuggets have not gotten an offensive foul. i expect that to change in the next half.
This game can be won.
Well, only down by 7. They were down by 8 going into the fourth quarter in Saturday's game.
7 points at half isn't bad considering I was wagering on who would have more points, the Lakers in the first quarter or the Dodgers in today's game.
I don't know what it is about Denver, but they don't have half the mental focus that Houston did and thus can't seem to put us in too much of a deep ditch though, that will be something to definitely look for in the second half.
Kobe looks like he is playing at a very high level and will be able to facilitate very well in the second half.
Go Dodgers.
so far this has been the formula they have one with, keep them in striking distance and then attack in the 4th.
wow, pau with a reverse lay in?
those 2 offensive boards scared me
nene and kmart have the ugliest looking shots, but they go in
the refs seem to step in everytime the lakers make a run.
The offensive boards are killing the Lakers.
missing easy shots are killing the lakers.
if the lakers are gonna win they need to go on a run now.
Nope, it's the offensive rebounds. Denver leads that category 16-6
We are still in this...everything is going against us, yet we are still very much in striking distance.
Bynum looks good, but Phil hasn't given him any minutes.
theres another one.
the lakers go on a little run, the nuggets basket and one. its been happening all game.
the games unraveling a bit,
This game is toast.
bynums trying to put the team on his back.
alright its over.
Lakers in 7 or denver in 6
God, our bench players (Walton and Vujacic) are the dictionary picture of regression in terms of their careers. They have done nothing to better themselves and what they could do, they have gotten noticably worse.
sadly i think this is going to be LO's last year as a laker. he is was too inconsistent
the nuggets have really looked like the stronger team throughout the series, unfortunately.
wow, jr smith is kind of an asshole.
The bottom line is that we are in for a dog fight...and I think we are the better team with the more home games, so we should pull this out.
Thanks for the Lakers game thread Sons.
well, that turned into a rout.
That sucks.
You guys catch Matt Kemp sitting behind the Laker bench?
