Ethier batting 4th and Martin batting 5th again? Wow.
I don't think Torre wants to rattle Ethier by moving him around in the order.
Ethier walked a couple of times last night. It was good to see some patience at the plate, but he needs to knock in some runs. Martin was just plain awful last night.
Here's hoping the power shots make it past the track today.
If we have to watch Hunter snag one more...
Eckersley has a good night announcing
Or not, I suck at linking :(
Another shot at Eck swearing
PC, I agree with you; Ethier looked more at ease from the plate yesterday. Whether that can translate to slump-busting behavior, we'll see (and I hope!).
Martin's last K was horrible, though.
Very nice. Kirk Gibson should fine him.
Steve Sax - Yeah, I think if Ethier can find some comfort, even in drawing walks, he'll get out of this slump.
Russell Martin could have had a huge night at the plate. He blew too many opportunities.
I thought Torre might shuffle the line-up a little.
Alright ladies and gentlemen, I've gotta close shop.
Lakers/Nuggets starting real soon.
I'll be off the thread through most of the game this evening. Catch you later.
Hey, who's running the marathon this year?
Orel, do you happen to know our record wince the Manny suspension?
1. Ethier should sit one game and get his head on straight.
2. Sax, the book came today. Way to pull strings with UPS. And the Leinie postcard was a nice touch.
Photo to follow.
Going to dinner and catch the first few innings.
a joint pregame show?
yuck
Tonight, Hunter becomes the hunted.
Denver up on the Lakers 52-48, but it could be much worse. I'd say it's manageable.
schmidt just left the 3rd inning with an injury, he started for the isotopes tonight.
im not sure of the injury.
Nic, Schmidt most likely took a ball to the body.
it that what it seems like on gameday. hopefully it wasnt the face.
honestly, i cant see the lakers winning this series any longer. There hasnt been one game where they have looked like the better team.
rex hudler makes me love the dodgers even more.
Wolf in trouble here.
come on Randy. He can never get past the 1st.
Good throw by Ethier, he almost nailed Rivera at 3rd.
Sweet avatar, Nic!
thanks Orel, after last night i felt like a blue man.
Tobias, FTW
Phew.
good job getting out of the jam!
The offense needs to wake up.
Lackey lasted longer than two pitches!
bah, that was close!
Lackey bare-handed that cleanly.
i have a feeling lackey is gonna tear us up tonight.
Nic J - I hope you are wrong.
Two outs by inches.
Robbery!
man, the angels always get the better brother player.
what happened to ariza?
its a little weird that the angels dont have a primary catcher. but i guess it works as far as not wearing your backstop out.
Nice hit by Andre!
I agree on the catcher thing Nic, especially since Soscia was a catcher himself.
the lakers just look burned out.
Russell is getting hot.
1st HR can't be far off.
man where the Eff was Hunter. he was almost in right field.
I'm gonna put a whole Ticonderoga factory into J.R. Smith's neck.
COME ON JP
alright i have to stop watching the laker game, everytime i put it on the nuggets go on a run. I have to have a +/- of -20
Ethier looks good today. This should help his confidence, especially since it's against Lackey.
Aflac: Who is the Dodgers' alltime leader in games & hits? (Hint: He was born on this date in 1888)
crap.
Juan Rivera ties it up with one swing.
Lakers by 1!
Orel, Abraham Lincoln was a Dodger?
Oh wait, 1888.
FDR was a Dodger?
Ouch, Billups 4-point play.
its sad when the angels are hitting more HR's than the dodgers.
pau is on FIRE!!
Pau workin' it. Lakers back up by 1.
I think it's sadder when they have a lot of LOB.
Epale guys! just coming back from home, thanks for the coverage, plus gameday i feel like i haven't missed anything.
wow, fish is making me sad.
I'm gonna run out of hair by the end of the Laker game.
Epale, Karina! The Lakers are making us nervous.
you might look like my avatar MLSF
Love it, though one with George Sr. would have been just as nice, if not nicer.
"And at the end of two-and-a-half, Rivera one, the Dodgers one." —Vin
fisher is a liability out there.
The Lakers are killing themselves at the free-throw line.
The Lakers game is a see-saw!
wow, kobe. wow.
1-1. Are they smashing the Lakers?
What kind of pitch did Kemp strike out on? How can you not at least try to foul off something that fat?
denver has definately looked like the better team in the series. I think the lakers are just out of gas.
14 missed free throws.
The missed free-throws are killing me and the Lakers.
kobe misses a FT
The Lakers are shooting themselves in the foot by missing all those free throws
This game would be over if they could just convert at the charity stripe.
Can they play some defense?
Good job by Odom to force Denver to use a TO.
Nervous time
Missing free throws? that's awful. I'm glad that i'm not a basketball-Lakers fan.
However, i share your pain.
Defense!
ariza with the steal again!!!!!!!
Holy cow, how many game-changers will Ariza have?
melo's out of the game.
No more 'Melo!
Odom and Ariza playing some good defense.
Hit youre free throws Trevor.
Is it too late to nominate Lackey for sexiest baseball player?
Bogus call on Odom.
The officiating seems so one sided.
Very ticky tack call on Odom.
LAL 101, DEN 97, 22.2 left
man kobe is so clutch, can he play left field for the dodgers?
Thats the game.
Why do you nominate Lackey?
watching the Giants-Mariners game, Matt Cain pitching. That team doesn't deserve Cain or Lincecum, in the other side, they have Brian Wilson.
Kobe can put this away.
Re-gain home court advantage.
99
kobe is the most clutch player in the universe.
Lakers win!
(passes out)
I love it.
Now I can concentrate on the Dodgers!!
That had to be one of the greatest Laker comebacks I've ever seen.
Kobe is an absolute stud.
/kobe looked ready to combust out there. denver hotel concierges - watch your backs!
Kobe looks EXHAUSTED.
Why does Rivera have to be good when he plays the Dodgers?
aybar very daring to challenge the bison.
Come on Wolf!
Guess I have to make another WANTED poster. 4-1 Angels.
Hunter is killing LA.
6 HRs for Wolf on the year. Most of any pitcher.
It's sad when every run has been driven in by a home run. Hopefully next inning the Dodgers got Pierre, Furcal and Hudson.
DeBaby Delino literally just tried to gouge out my eyes. Time to get out of the house - go Dodgers.
And I just got caught up with the game... brutal. Torii's earning his superfluous "i"
Now would be a great time for Ethier to hit a homer.
Why do we bring out the best in a mediocre team? This is very frustrating.
Patience, Mr LASF. Last night he took a couple of walks and have had a good night at the plate.
One more wild pitch for the cycle.
There ya go, Russell! 4-2 Angels.
Damn, Gameday is taking forever.
A two-out rally! This hasn't happened in a long time. 4-3 Angels.
I'll take runs anyway we get them.
The great thing is that Ethier is contributing, albeit with an HBP, but still.
3-run ding would be sweet right now.
Kemp is starting to slide back into bad old habits.
and King James is in contact mode again. Martin is getting better and better too.
"Kemp is starting to slide back into bad old habits."
Agreed.
so he can be patient.
Wait for it Kemp.
I said wait, not watch. crap.
Crap Bison!
Again, why don't you at least try to foul that off?
If you're gonna go down, go down looking.
Wait, that's not the phrase.
I have to admit, that was a beauty of a pitch by Lackey.
At least they're back in the game and the home team.
yep. good 2 out rally.
DP
Good inning by Wolf. Let's get back to tagging Lackey.
wow i leave and offense happens.
When was the last time the Dodgers hit a home run?
Beard HBP
man thats the third batter he has hit.
Good bunt. Pierre RBI opportunity.
Wasn't Blake the last one who hit a homer?
yup, a three run jack against the mets.
wow jp, wow.
Does Pierre need a night off>?
that was ugly
Is anyone else worried the Beast is becoming Slappy again?
nice raffy. at least shields is warming up in the angels pen.
You know the story about women living together and how their menstrual cycles start to coincide? The Dodger bats need to do that. Furcal, Ethier and Martin are getting hot, Kemp and Pierre are cooling off.
they say hitting is contagious. good and bad
Belly facing Rivera. Those two guys know each other a lot and suddenly, i'm getting nervous.
He made Rivera ground out. Nice Belly.
I'm at the game with my lucky SpongeBob boxeers. I ate a dodger dog even though I'm not hungry. They have to win.
Good job, Belly!
Giants 3-Mariners 1, 8th inning.
Nice pitching by Belly.
she sounded like an angel fan.
the padres are actually closer to us than the giants are now.
Are you talking about me, Nic j?
Don't look now, but the Padres are on the verge of winning their eighth straight.
I think Nic was referring to the "God Bless America" singer.
No one would ever confuse you for an Angel fan, Karina.
Even if the Dodgers don't score here, I like the idea of them facing Arradondo and Fuentes on no rest.
*relief*
I know the Pads are closer, but i don't like the Giants to win, specially when they were losing in the 8th inning.
andre's going the other way now - i like it
and hello everybody
One inning of magic and the bats go silent again.
Hey FB. Try again.
no i wasnt talking about you karina, im not that cruel.
ARI 5, OAK 5, top 11
SD 3, CHI 1, bot 8
SF 5, SEA 1, top 8
Man I'm tired. That Laker game really drained me.
i hope Andre is OK
i was at the game yesterday and i noticed that there were alot of mixed couples, but the guy was always the dodger fan the the girl was always the angel fan.
his first major league catch.
try again? not sure what you mean. it looked like he had a good swing last inning, even though it was an out
and now he's out of the game - hmm
seriously how do angel fans listen to Rex Hudler for every game.
I can't stand the Angels broadcasters. Once they spent about three minutes talking about the food in the dugout.
Sorry FB, I thought you were making a prediction.
Belly limits the damage. On to the eighth.
OK Belly - you're gonna get yourself a win tonight
Shields is eminently touchable.
Fred's Brim: love how you're talking.
take pitches
Padres win. Eight in a row.
Giambi hit his 400th career HR.
the pad's are quite the streaky team this year.
Safe by a hair! Beautiful, Loney!
wow just barely made it.
Loney looked like he was out for sure.
alright Karina. James deserves a King for that one.
Loney has no power and no speed.
wow what a crazy slide! i hope his fingers are ok
now lets get him home!
D'backs take a three-run lead in the 11th.
Loney got really, really lucky.
Remember he's a King. Did he stretch a single for a double?
why is kemp looking at strikes go by? i bet he chases one now.
Loney touched Kendrick before he touched the bag.
Kemp advances Loney.
Beard!!
