Eric Milton (0-0, 0.00) vs. Andrew Miller (0-1, 6.94).
COMMENTS:
This weekend game proposes, first in brief, the outcome of the Saturday game, pitting the powerful Dodgers of Paradise against the sea creatures of Florida, depends primarily on the starting performances of associates of both legions. Amidst forecasted thunderstorms the two sides will do battle, their chief leaders named as Torre and Gonzalez, issuing their numbers into combat with the hopes of regaining bearing toward postseason baseball and eternal praise with a world series victory and coronation.
f the Darkness within Dodger hearts, illumine;
And possibly even afford a smooth ninth frame,
Dodgers' second series game, and the fifth
Of this short road trip, where opinions
Both public and media are certain
To be reflect'd by one contest's outcome.
Sing, heavenly muses, from your press box,
The wandering path of Eric Milton,
Whose replaced ligaments and nomadic ways
Have result'd in an uncommon rebirth.
Herald his pitching and hasten his fastballs
As he musters his courage for battles ahead.
Whilst th' infernal slippery marlins
Of Floridian coasts and empty stadium,
Revolt soundly against the legions
Of divine Dodger bats and gloves.
What spirits low, raise and support,
And rescue our souls from defeat and despair
Whilst we vanquish our enemies to bottomless perdition.
Is that too ambitious for followers to request?

Saxy; a fan of the classics.
Well done.
excellent stuff, Saxy!
Made it to new Yankee stadium last night and sat way up in the upper deck. During a lull in the middle innings, they tried to subtly pump in crowd noise to spur more crowd noise. From the speakers above us hanging from the roof, we could hear rhythmic clapping: "clap-clap-clap...clap clap clap". Later we heard what sounded like a group of kids chanting "lets go yank-ees clap-clap clap-clap-clap". There were only drunks in our section. Yankees fans are quick to join in a cheer so I am sure it was to get some kind of noise going. pretty sad if you ask me
Yankees fans are famous for not needing those kinds of cues. This could be an exposé!
wow, bad day for angels fans, John lackey gets thrown out of the game after two pitches.
This Angels game is insane.
We are underway
Beast Mode has no end.
Where the hell is everyone?
Anyone know why KCAL is not starting coverage until 4pm?
I guess for Pierre, he's either in Beast Mode or he's dead.
i think it has something to do with fox saturday baseball, its a national blackout until 4
It's Milton time.
I'm a little nervous about Milton
so lackey had one earned run today and recorded no outs. whats his ERA, infinity?
I haven't read any John Milton but the images are exquisite: a Doré book cover and an illustrated majuscule (it looks very art nouveau). Steve, you really reach my heart when you use art in the game threads.
Epale, everyone!
This blackout is killing me.
At least we're up 1-0!
Yep, the sideways 8.
Milton looks good so far, though I only have Gameday to go on.
LoneyFan, MSTI has a great rant about why this game started at 3 but won't start the television coverage until 4p. Has to do with a rap concert and Fox's blackout. Good stuff.
At least Family Feud is over, thank God
Thanks Sax, but the second of the back to back Fued episodes is underway.
MSTI makes me smile.
At least you guys get to see the game. Direct TV doesn't get KCAL where I live. Oh well, I don't get to see the Dodgers winning, but at least I'm watching the next best thing: The Giants losing! Go Mets!
Let play the Fued!!!
Bottom of the 8th: Mets 7, Giants 6
damn miller has 46 pitches after two innings.
I took the time to read the MSTI article and now I wish I had not. Well done by MSTI though with the explanation and well written (as always) article.
Does Milton have a pitch-limit, or can he go the full 100?
miltons been starting in the minors, he should be stretched out to go the distance.
People on the Fued are really stupid. I guess that is kind of redundant.
what inning "the distance" is depends on if he keeps walking guys.
I hate Cody Ross
May
Walls
7
Clothes
IRS
Sorry, I mixed this up with the Family Fued blog I am messaging on.
im starting to remember why i hated milton so much in the spring.
Milton looks shaky, at least on Gameday.
He should be able to get out Miller
Milton is at least better than Miller right now.
The Fued is over and it's tiiiiiiime for Dodger baseball!
at least miller looks worse than milton.
Meanwhile, in SF, top of the 9th, there are Mets in first and second, no outs, still up by one run
BEAST MODE IS EVERY MODE!
The Beast lead-off triple!
good to be home (not work) and have gameday and radiotime working. for some reason it doesnt work at work...
beast mode in full effect!
Beast Mode
2-1
tape delay!!!! LAME!!!
While they aren't getting the clutch hits, they still get the guy home.
OH F*** FOX BROADCASTING! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!
Okay well I guess I'm outta here. I'm going to wait ANOTHER hour until tape delay catches up.
who the hell needs to see the first two innings? just give us a recap.
Tape delay! Boo!
For me, I still like to watch the game even if it's tape-delay. I only find TD pointless during Spring Training.
friggin fastball down the middle andre... HIT IT!
My brain is melting with the tape delay.
I've wanted Fox to fall since they bought the Dodgers.
Off to Gameday I go.
Holy smokes, Beast Mode is still on fire!
man miller was just challenging ethier.
Martin hits one out. I said it first.
Walk proves me wrong, still beats an out.
is miller just going with the fastball this inning?
lets go pop up!
NYM 8, SF 6, top 9
loney pops out to center...
Argh, Loney can't get going.
Miller at 68 pitches.
Mets 9, Giants 6, still top 9.
Furcal barehanded Bonifacio's bouncer.
Yay, Pierre scor-oh wait, it's tape delay.
How are you seeing this Orel?
milton getting it done.
Either stole a base?
I mean Ethier. Sheesh.
C'mon, Milton. Don't walk Hanley.
Dammit, he walked him
Walk, HBP. Marlins have two on, two out.
Dodgers vs. Marlins, and Collins and Lyons are talking about Lincecum.
"How are you seeing this Orel?"
Through the magic of Charley Steiner's storytelling abilities.
Milton's got to go more than 4
Miltons got 2 more in him.
Lincecum doesn't even pitch today, he pitched last night.
RA for FLA. C'mon, Milton!
you're killing me uncle milty.
Don't worry. Uggly's up. Quick out.
come on Milty
Rancho Ardiendo with 2 walks and a HBP.
I think Milton will walk one in here.
Who's up in the pen?
Gameday says that ball was a strike.
Mets sweep the Giants!
be on the look out for a lost strike zone.
Full count.
Ball 4. Tie score.
Oh, c'mon Milton. Not one guy has put the ball in play.
That was decidedly unclutch.
Weaver is up in the pen, after having pitched an inning last night.
Walks home the run? WTF?
Weaver only threw an inning. I would like to see Tron.
Bring in Hair Weaver.
Fly ball to Kemp. Inning over.
finally.
ps weaver is the last person you want in with RA.
2 out, nobody on. What does Milton do? Walk, HBP, Walk, Walk, one run scored.
3 walks and an HBP. dang Milty! hit the freaking plate!
Kemp singles!
Just saw the play where Ramirez' bat went into the stands. The kids makes a great grab of the bat, gives it back, and Hainley doesn't give him another one to replace it.
Bad mojo for Hainley. . .eventually.
And #100 just slips on by, unclaimed.
I have to admit, that's pretty mean for Hanley. Maybe the kid just wanted him to cut his hair?
Rbn, maybe the club will take care of that.
Beard Mode!
Blake K's on a 94-mph fastball up and away.
So much for the Beard.
Milton sacs Kemp to second. Two out.
I hope Milton helps himself for last inning's mess
Beast Mode time
It'd be sweet if Beast Mode hit a single (at least)
Yeah Orel, but they should do it when everyone's looking. The Fish can use all the positive pub they can get.
He did, he moved the runner.
Monday says JP has hit safely in 13 of his 14 starts.
Now Collins is talking about Strasburg
Come on, BEAST MODE, knock in Kemp from second
Pierre lines out to left.
Damn, no beast mode
Nope, a "pretty good poke by Juan" but the Dodgers are retired.
Strausberg: no one is worth $60million.
One pitch, one out for Milton in the bottom of the fourth.
Don't walk the pitcher, Miltie!
I've got Steiner about two to three pitches ahead of my gameday.
that's gonna make these pop-fly calls even worse
I don't understand how Boras can still be so arrogant after he's taken so many hits over the last few years.
Comebacker. Two out.
Bonafacio pops out to Hudson. Miltie's first 1-2-3 inning.
The problem with Boras is he knows talent. My guess is he'll be repping pitchers a lot more than sluggers now.
O-Dog K's.
Did we decide on a "Mode" for O-dawg?
Dawg Mode seems too obvious.
Based on his interviews, Talk Mode?
DAMMIT, Steiner just did another one of those "FLY BALL .... .. it's foul."
4-3
If anything, Ethier made himself Miller's last out.
10 pitch at bat for Dre. Not bad.
Hey Orel, are we still going to the Roosevelt Hotel tonight?
Well, no win for Milton
"Paradise Lost" reference by Steiner!
He must read SoSG
Time to walk my O-Dog.
And here's Dream Weaver
The Weav Machine
Damn milkshake commercials
I am very interested in what this oceanfront experience is for the new BBQ Beach.
Maybe the visitors' bullpen is now a pool?
2-out basehit for Cantu
About the BBQ in the Stands:
1. Where will the radio station set up?
2. How the hell can they make the nosebleeds into a beach-themed BBQ?
Weaver promptly sets the Dodgers back 4-2
Two-run HR for the Marlins. Crap.
More like a nightmare now.
why is weaver even in there so early?
Bad thing about the BBQ Beach:
DJ from KIIS-FM. I'd rather listen to bad karaoke.
The Dodgers better take advantage of the Marlins' weak bullpen.
They will for sure.
Uggla with a base hit
Weaver can't get out of this
I really hate this tape delay crap. The family is watching The Dog Whisperer on DVR. I'm being a calm, assertive pack leader.
Dusto, it's because Milton threw 84 pitches through four frames
It won't f****** end!
Hey rbnlaw, `they're all asleep by now
Collins and Lyons still arguing over Strasburg
Another base hit against Weaver, men on first and second with Cody Ross up--Ross hit a big HR yesterday
Weaver finally has his meltdown inning.
t]This is insane. First Milton gets the first two out in the fourth, then implodes. Weaver gets the first two out, and can get anyone out.
The third, not the fourth for Milton
Oy. The hits keep coming.
Finally
Let's cross fingers this nightmare is over.
Single for Quebec Mode.
when was 84 too much?
pop up?
wait for it...
wait for it...
Dusto, 84 might not be very many pitches, but he sounded like he had nothing.
And he hadn't pitched since 1952.
Let's go Bison Mode.
Beard Mode
I'm out of beer.
Sit on one Beard.
Beard walks. Martin steals third. Now it's first and third for a PH.
XP to be exact
1st and 3rd 2 out. Stinkin base hit is all we need.
Son stole third!
X Mode.
Time for XP's first career triple
Go XP!
Damn XP
Charley is obsessed with the tinsel from the pom-poms the Marlins are giving away today.
BSOD for XP
Leach in.
Amezaga rips it, but to Pierre. One out.
Am I missing something, or is there no mid-week day game on the schedule this year? (at Dodger Stadium, I mean)
Leach K's Bonafacio.
Wed., July 1 against Colorado is a 12:10 start.
1-2-3 inning for Leach.
Thanks Orel. I looked at the schedule and missed that.
I'm planning on going and hitting the Shortstop prior to.
Nice inning for Leach
Prediction for the Lakers and Celtics tomorrow?
Beast Mode singles.
The Beast is aboard
Furcal pops out.
It's O-Dog time.
