Clayton Kershaw (1-2, 4.91) vs. Chan Ho Park (0-1, 6.67).
COMMENTS:
Owner: Take this object, but beware it carries a terrible curse!
Homer: [worried] Ooooh, that's bad.
Owner: But it comes with a free Frogurt!
Homer: [relieved] That's good.
Owner: The Frogurt is also cursed.
Homer: [worried] That's bad.
Owner: But you get your choice of topping!
Homer: [relieved] That's good.
Owner: The toppings contains Potassium Benzoate.
Homer: [stares]
Owner: That's bad.
The Dodgers face Chan Ho Park today.
That's good.
But they have to face the rest of the Phillies as well.
That's bad.
Russell Martin is heating up.
That's good.
But Rafael Furcal is still slumping.
That's bad.
Although not as much as Jimmy Rollins.
That's good.
The Dodgers are 1-3 since Manny got suspended.
That's bad.
But the Phillies are barely over .500 at 15-14.
That's good.
The Giants are only four games behind the Dodgers.
That's bad.
But the other NL West teams are at least 8.5 games back.
That's good.
I don't know how to end this.
That's bad.

I *think* I may be going to the Thursday game. The Missus asked me to take that day off and wont tell me what we are doing. I hope it's that and not a trip to Ikea! I also hope we are going for the series win or perhaps the sweep. Bills will be looking for redemption!
My missus - that's good.
Orel, you are in magnificent form today.
From Memento references to Simpsons dialogue, everything you touch today stays gold Poney boy.

Chappy: Thanks!
Zombie Flanders: Hey Homer, I'm feeling a little peckish. Mind if I chew your ear?
(Homer shoots Flanders dead with rifle)
Bart: Dad, you killed the Zombie Flanders!
Homer: He was a zombie?

Fred: But if you go to the game at Citizens Bank Park, where will you get your fill of swedish meatballs?
Brian Wilson says he won't forget Blake mocking him when the Dodgers get up there in August.
Too bad Wilson will likely be back on the DL and can do nothing about it.
Gibby's Limp + Fred Brim: You must make a SoSG Road Game Connection. And send us pictures!
Line-up looks good.
Maybe Joe can do his best to keep Mota out of the game today.
one hour to game time, I can't wait
Back to work.
Go Blue.
While yesterdays off day puzzle was an awesome event (because I got the answer) todays game couldn't come fast enough!
39 mins
Park doesn't lood good in red
Leadoff double for Pierre!
Beast Mode!
Let's hope Furcal can get into beast mode
Beast double?
Argh, Furcal lines out right to Rollins
The O-Dog drives in Pierre
That's good
O-Dog gets picked off
That's bad
Park has nothing
When he heard the Dodgers were facing Park, Fernando Tatis asked if he could join the squad.
Andre with a two-out double.
That's good.
How do we make scoring in the first inning so unsatisfying?
Because it's only one run each time
Russell Martin grounds directly to 2B Chase Utley to strand Ethier.
That's bad.
anybody else watching tv? Is this the Eric Collins that I've heard so much about?
And Psycho on as color commentary?
Yes, so far he sounds good, but I've only had a series against Houston to go on.
Shane "Don't Throw at My Head" Victorino singles.
That's bad.
Hudson can't come up with that ball, giving a leadoff single to Victorino.
That's bad.
Orel: BTW, I cracked up when I read "I don't know how to end this. That's bad." Nice.
Chase "World F***** Champs" Utley pops up.
That's good.
This "good/bad" theme is reminding of one of my favorite things from Animaniacs
Hey, thanks for that flashback memory, Mr LASF! I'm smiling recalling Shane's whole "throw at my chest, not at my head" histrionic routine.
Utley flies to Pierre, and Victorino surprisingly does not advance to second.
That's good.
Hey, Werth DPs! That's VERY GOOD!
Werth with a GIDP.
That's good.
I laughed when I saw Shane shouting at Kuroda, because he probably didn't understand a word that he was saying.
Erin, what's up? What's the San Juan Countdown Clock up to?
Hey Sax.
We're at about 25 days, give or take. My friend Cate is coming down for a visit on Monday (for ten days!), which will help make the passage of time much more bearable.
Loney swings at the first pitch and pops up. That's bad.
King James pops out at the very first pitch
That's bad.
Erin, nice clip. Was that Andruw Jones at 0:50?
Kemp strikes out. That's bad.
Park makes Kemp look fooooooolish.
can't i get a mother f'ing update gameday! geeze louise!
Gameday is working fine for me.
How's the weather out there? Spending any time at the San Juan Casino? The one thing I remember about that place was that my clothes never dried out when hung from my balcony window. Oh yeah, and I took my per diem and quadrupled it at the roulette wheel, and then kept the profits.
Casey "Take that Brian Wilson" Blake strikes out. That's bad.
Casey strikes out, and somewhere, Brian Wilson makes his little gesture and runs all around his backyard in his diapers
Erin, i learned the theme song from Animaniacs in English sooner than i learned it in Spanish. I loved that cartoon.
eric collins, thats bad.
I mean, I understand that anti-smoking commercial decrying the free tobacco samples given away at sporting events. But I've been to sporting events all over the country, and I have NEVER seen any free tobacco samples being distributed. Am I just hanging out with the honor roll students?
Ryan Howard is a large man.
I've been to the casino at the El San Juan hotel three or four times. We have pretty much doubled our money every time, on roulette and craps. Not big spenders, though, so it's normally going in with $50 or $100 and coming out with $100 or $200. But it's fun (gambling is one of my favorite things in the world). I love per diem.
Clothes take a little bit to dry, especially now that I'm right on the water at the hotel. This is why I'm glad Christine is in the wardrobe department, so we have access to a washer and dryer.
I would think that with the recession and swine flu that smoking would take a backseat. But then again I thought the same thing with "green" stuff.
Howard strikes out. That's good.
James needs to switch over to "beast mode". At least try beast mode lite.
Rollins grounds out. That's good.
Dusto, he will and it's going to be the b est.
Ibanez goes down on strikes. That's good. Only 20 pitches for Kershaw through two, that's even better.
nice inning for the Minotaur.
That's good.
just came into the game, has kersh looked this solid for the whole game? i know its only two innings deep.
Karina, I'd like to learn the Animaniacs theme song in Spanish. I could probably get some of it if I tried:
"Es tiempo por Animaniacs y estamos 'zany' hasta el máximo..."
Kershaw lines right to Shane. That's bad.
Kershaw dealing
They're hitting it right on the button, but right at guys.
you think raffy misses manny? maybe that has something to do with his slump.
why are we giving Chan Ho Park easy innings?
It must be part of our strategy to keep him in the game as long as possible.
That's bad.
Furcal looks lost out there at the plate.
Nic J, Raffy's slump started Day 1 of this season.
No, Raffy singled in his first at-bat of the season, then scored off Jake Peavy.
I mean, look at the pitch Raffy swung at. Park jammed him. He had a 3-0 count in the first and lined out as well. Come on, Raffy, get it together. We need you now.
maybe manny confided in him about his suspension, the investigation was going on since spring training. seems like its possible.
I miss the Animaniacs! Dodgers leading.
That's good!
if my best friend was going through something like a possible suspension and i was the only one who knew about it, my mind would probably be all over the place.
nic J, you're right. He was 2-for-5 on opening day, batting .400. He then went 0-for-4 the following day to drop to .222.
And, since April 22, he's been mired around .250.
Are Manny and Raffy BFFs? I didn't know that.
argh, leadoff walk to Feliz. That's bad.
I think there's something wrong with Kershaw's curve.
Time for a double play ball Kershaw.
Back2back walks. That's bad.
I am not actually opposed to this current lineup as long as Pierre is on fire and Furcal is not. As soon as he starts being Slappy McPopup again, bench him for X-Paul or put him in the LaRussa spot.
BTW, that last pitch was a strike.
Clayton needs to pay attention to Park, because he can hit.
yeah, it seems like they are.
I have a bad feeling about Park at the plate here.
Back to back walks.
That's bad.
nice new avatar nicJ
Park lays down the bunt. Runners advance. That's bad.
thanks.
That last curve was a good one.
They trade the out for the run. That's bad.
The fastball wasn't
To anyone who is watching live - Could Furcal have gunned it to Martin to get Feliz?
Lyons says Furcal is unhappy with his defensive performance on that play. Raffy definitely looks pissed off.
1-1 on the Victorino sacrifice. Man on second, two out.
No, he was playing to far back.
I mean "too"
How long before we hear about Furcal to the DL with a bad back?
100
Alireza, unlikely. Ball was too deep.
That could have been what Raffy was reacting to, the fact that he started charging the ball but then opted to back up and take it. Runner on third left on contact, so there was no chance. Raffy almost missed getting Victorino out as it was.
nice snag Mr LASF
BTW, that third pitch was a strike.
wow that was a ball?
And that 5th pitch was such a strike, it is a joke.
nasty
3-2 count, and Minotaur gets Utley to Chase! WHoo hoo!
Werth goes down. That's good.
...and the Whiff.
whoops that was Utley.
MLASF - That was Utley, a far more formidable foe.
This lottery commercial is so annoying. If I was buying a scratch-off lottery ticket and some random person (or animal) started telling everybody who I was, I'd probably punch that person in the face.
But then, I publish daily under the name Steve Sax. So maybe I'm a bit private that way.
I can talk in sync with that commercial that's how much I've seen it. Gloria Gruber, former miss Teen Oxnard, blah blah blah
O-Dog with a leadoff single. That's good.
Much use of the overhead blimp shots tonight. Lyons brings up how fantastic it is to have all the stadiums in one area. It does look cool, I'm sure it's convenient...but on days where games overlap, isn't it a madhouse for parking?
Enough blather. Hudson singles to right, and this time stays at first. Leadoff single for the Dodgers.
do they have a required amount of time they have to use the overhead camera? wtf?
That's funny, I haven't even listened to it. Gloria was a former Teen Oxnard? Man, she's let things go.
but then, it is Oxnard.
That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it.
Seems like Jai-Ho Park isn't throwing as hard this year as last.
Come on Martin, pound this ball. .269, 0HR.
Busted hit-and-run.
Steve, he's improving.
Martin with a little single. Two on for Loney.
Martin dunker to center field. Men on first and second.
Okay guys, I gotta jet. Keep up the fight for a while.
Sorry Karina, erin. Guys and Gals.
King James, please please don't DP. We all could take a walk, ok?
Collins has said this is a dream spot for Loney to hit a homer. Short porch in right, Chan Ho Park pitching, seems like it's destiny.
come on guys this is a perfect park for your first home run.
the pitcher and the field.
Steve, i'm not offended for the "guys", at the end of the day, i am always one of the guys.
Hey, I grew up in Camarillo :-P
Anyway, nice knock for Russ. Looks like Hudson was respecting the Flying Hawai'ian's arm.
Nice takeout slide by Martin. 1st and 3rd, two outs.
so, loney grounded to second? you gotta be kidding me... right?
i think loney needs to be demoted to pawn or rook or something.
Nice work by Russ or that would have been another Loney GIDP. Loney has to be kicking himself, because Park grooved that fastball.
TMI, Karina, TMI
King James moved the runner to 3rd. I'll take it.
the duke of kemp!
Kemp with a dunker single. O-Dog scores, Dodgers lead 2-1, that's good.
I like the look of that In Play, run(s)
Deleted, Mr. LASF
Time for the bearded one to get going.
Hmm. If Casey hits a homer here, does he imitate Park's karate kick? :-P
2-1. That's good
Thank you, Karina. There are some things I just don't need to know.
Oh Casey. You should have deposited that one.
Blake really seems to like the ball down.
Ok, Mr LASF. Thank you for getting me back to my regular tomboy self.
Argh, a leadoff hit for Werth. That's bad.
C'mon Clayton. Howard stinks it up against Lefties. Blow him away.
Howard walks. That's very bad.
Ugh. Not shaping up to be a great inning for us.
Erin, this is for you:
Es hora de Animaniacs, estamos locos de atar,
ven y siéntate a observar, mucho te divertirás
Ani-ma-ni-i-aaaac
es como es!
Karina, I guess I was a little off in my translation. Now I'm going to memorize this if I can.
A double steal. This is not good at all.
A double steal?!? Damn it.
Are you kidding me with that double steal?
Did Clayton pull a Pettite and wind up or something?
Kershaw needs to K Rollins, get Raul to popup, and Feliz to get out somehow.
Crap. Rollins singles. Werth scores. This is really, really bad.
looks like we are gonna need the offense to pick it up tonight.
Boo.
J-Roll can't buy a hit all year and he gets one there? Damn it.
Here is hoping Clayton picks him off.
Now Kershaw has to deal with their best hitter right now. Piece of cake.
At least Raul isn't much against lefties. Then again, Howard isn't either and Kershaw walked him.
well, what time are the lakers on?
Oh dammit. Raul doubles. Howard and Rollins score. Kershaw's lost it.
No outs, that's bad.
MOTHER GOAT!
Now i remember, Pedro Feliz pretty much owned the Dodgers last season.
that's bad.
I normally try to remain optimistic in these situations, but I don't think that's gonna happen here.
we shoud be able to score more off park. the operative word being should.
Kershaw could be pitching better, but the damn ump is squeezing him.
another walk.
It is bad when you walk Pedro Feliz twice.
Oh c'mon, Kershaw walks another guy. Kershaw is MIA, DOA, and any other kind of A you could use in this situation.
dont worry guys, the even shakier JMAC is warming up.
The Dodgers need to hit long balls if they want to survive.
we used to have a player that could hit long balls.
This looks like another loss where everybody goes "If they had Manny..." I hate these kind of losses.
kemp saving the kids bacon.
That should ease Kershaw's mind.
Was that a tough catch for Kemp? I only have Gameday to rely on here.
it was hit into shallow center, had to slide for it.
Foul bunt. That's a K for Kershaw.
It's the bottom of the 4th, the Dodgers are down by two, who says they are going to lose?
WHEN WILL IT END?
the fun doesnt stop.
Argh, Blake misses Victorino's line drive. Bases juiced for Utley. Crap.
i think clayton kershaw says they are going to lose.
AN ERROR?!!?? Come on!
Both outs were lucky for Kershaw. Things could be much worse.
If Utley walks, so help me...
40 pitch inning... and hes not done yet
just bring out matt stairs and put us out of our misery.
Damn it Casey. You just cost the bullpen one inning.
The sons can use another Simpsons reference for this inning. There was an episode with a soap opera called "It Never Ends"
Thank god.
damn, that was nice.
