omg i cant believe wat happened!!!
actually now i do believe!
Time to update the Dodger Postseason Heroes graphic.
With Mark Loretta.
Answer sent.
Orel, this is very appropriate post game thread, words can't really describe what happened at Dodger Stadium tonight.
2 hours to a beer.
I'm actually back at work.
Credit FJL for running out what should have been the game-ender!!!!
That was probably the most exciting playoff game I've seen. Probably because it's my team, and not the Red Sox or the Angels.
"Matt Holliday went from hero to goat Thursday in L.A., as his error in the bottom of the ninth paved the way for the Dodgers to take a 2-0 series lead in the NLDS."
Again, according to ESPN, the Cardinals let the Dodgers take another game.
Awesome, Totally Awesome!!!!
@Orel
Good points. I agree.
Mark Loretta: Professional Blooper Hitter
I'll never question Joe Torre again. Starting Fat Ronnie was pure genius. One more win till the NLCS!
Can we start game 3 now?
I bet Holliday is going to get sloppy drunk after this one.
Orel, where's the win countdown? We should be down to 9.
In all honesty MR. LA Sports Fan, Cardinals did give this game away. But who said luck wasn't involved in baseball :)
Go Dodgers!
The Cards gave us some big breaks, but Ronnies basehit, Blake's walk, and Loretta's blooper were all us. Clutch.
I know I've been absent lately, but I just had to stop by and say that I was there, and it was the best damn game I've ever seen. Unbelievable. I have no voice and a raging headache, and I do not care.
I think Matt Holliday should be added to the Dodger Postseason Heroes.
I went to text my friend and I had no idea what to say so I just settled for "!".
Matt Holliday's balls should be added to the Pantheon graphic, along with Belly2 and MArk Lorawesome.
You know, I really don't care if the national media (and certain local pundits) are saying we were given the win. Bottom line; a win is a win is a win.
And we've got 2 of 'em. How bout you Saint Looie?
And Karl Ravich; St. Louis in 3 what?
Oh Holliday's balls.
RBNLaw:
What the MSM can't sell is the fact that our team played well enough to make that mistake matter.
We faced one of the best pitchers on a great day...worked an eighth inning where we forced him out for the ninth and got a lucky break there and took advantage!
Well said Andrew.
Lost Angels and BoTox in a tight one.
Gawd I love play-off baseball.
Well, that was cool. Beat going to work.
[UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY]
@ MLASF
I bet I'm going to get sloppy drunk after this one, too.
i still can't believe this. I ran down to the bar across the street to watch the near rally in the 8th and then that amazing 9th. It was a few drunk irish guys, and me nervously rocking back and forth

Both for different reasons, no doubt?
that must have been awesome DB. can we get you to go to all of the playoff games?
DTs are a motherfucker, and I dont think they read Dodger Thoughts
Where did Slash go during the bottom of the 9th? He was there for Breezy's inning, at the back of the Mary Hart section, but he was nowhere to be seen in the bottom of the 9th
and is Mary Hart our "Dinger"?
@ FB-
Yes, you can! *passes hat*
I think it was the old Brooklyn cap I wore these last two days, which I like to wear for big games in order to channel the great ghosts of heroes past. And my lucky "Dodgers pants" as Mrs. Dusty calls them somewhat derisively given that the pants have seen their better days in most people's judgment - but mine. And the final nail in the superstitious coffin was my equally lucky "Los Dodgers" blue t-shirt.
I have to say I have a major knee problem that means it needs to be drained, so my making it to this game made it incredibly painful for me. But I wouldn't have missed it for anything, and now I have another great Blue memory to tuck away. I felt a lot like Gibby must have felt, but anything to help the team...
Dusty's Limp. Love it.
You know beer cures all that ales you.
Pun intended.
awesome, DB! I wish I could have been there. You dont see amazing moments like that in person too often - I am really envious.
Now i hope we can take this into game three and put this series away!
i was perusing through the Purple Row rox blog and i am a little insulted that that are rooting against us hard. I was pulling for the Rox in a sign of NL West unity. Now i hope they make it to the NLCS so we can tear them apart.
(Permiting we make it there, Almighty Baseball Gods)
Oh for Holliday's balls! My son's soccer game just got rescheduled for 4:30 Saturday.
I'm gonna miss seeing my little midfielder dominate.
@Nic:
Jobu forgives you.
I'm still processing this one, so let me give it to you by the numbers.
Innings missed = 1
Curses uttered in traffic = 27,863
Remaining phone charge = 0
Internet connections borrowed = 1
Current voice dB remaining = 8
Rank among games I have attended = 1
@erin
I'm almost sure we were driving out of the stadium right behind you and Christine, but I don't know the proper protocol for greeting someone you might know from the internet in heavy traffic.
Ravetch says the Cards will sweep the NEXT three games.
@NicJ
In that case, I stand by the above statement.
It's funny to see the flip-side of the win via a St. Louis blog.

That was such an awesome game. That is what the postseason is all about.
Mr Kemp shouldnt you be getting some sleep? you have another 9 games to win.
Mr. Customer, really? What kind of car did you see? If you were leaving the Sunset gate behind some crazy girls in a black Jeep blasting "I Love L.A." while the one in the passenger seat (me) banged on the outside of the car, then, yes, that was us.
Listening to Vin's call again this morning, just to make sure it really happened
haha Vin: "unbelievable, even for the Dodgers"
!
@erin
I couldn't identify the car, as my sobriety a little suspect at that point, but we were turning right from stadium way at the Sunset entrance. A snippet from that conversation.
me: Holy crap, I think I know those girls!
driver: Really? From where?
me: Umm... the internet.
[pause]
driver: Should I honk?
me: Probably not, they wouldn't recognize me without the hat.
[silence]
