Angels Matching Dodgers in Drama Dept.

ANGELS 7, RED SOX 6

Down to its last strike, a Southern California team strings together an amazing come-from-behind rally to stun a recent World Series-winner and ends up sweeping its way into the LCS. It happened again today when the Angels, down 6-4 with two out in the ninth inning at Fenway Park, scored three runs off the Red Sox's Jonathan Papelbon and held on to win, 7-6. The dagger was Vladimir Guerrero's single that scored Chone Figgins and Bobby Abreu.

Congrats, LAA! The Freeway Series is a step closer to reality.

BOOOOO!!!!!

Condolences, Erin. Then again, now all your rooting energy can be focused on one team!

Erin said...

Fair point.

NicJ said...

Extremely happy to see the sox swept. I am very scared of losing a freeway world series though.

But I guess I'm getting ahead of myself.

Steve Sax said...

Yeah, rumors that Scioscia is well-endowed have persisted since he was a Dodger player. Guess you finally got the news, Dodger Heaven!

Steve Sax said...

By the way, congrats Angels! Take down theYankees!

Nostradamus said...

As far as AL teams go, I admit that I am partial to the Sox, though I agree that the Yanks/Sox thing has been beaten to a pulp by certain unnamed media outlets.

So a grudging slow clap for the Angels, and we'll see what happens from here.

Nostradamus said...

In light of our discussions about national media disrespect, how pissed are the Twins right now?

I know it isn't likely, but damn!

Nostradamus said...

Is it to much to ask for Carl Pavano to add a measure of insult to injury and beat the Yanks at least once?

Nostradamus said...

Also, if we never have another discussion about Mike Sciosca's...erm...qualities, that'll be fine with me.

Nostradamus said...

Twinkies plate one.

*crickets*

Erin said...

I cheered, Mr. Customer.

Nostradamus said...

Erin,

So noted.

I thought I was the only one here. I'd better change into my front-yard outfit.

Nostradamus said...

I hate that guy.

Erin said...

Ugh.

Erin said...

Unbelievable.

Nostradamus said...

Was that trainer laughing on the way out of the dugout?

Nostradamus said...

Left fielders take note, there's a recurring pattern developing.

Erin said...

Sorry, Mr. Customer. I changed the channel for a while, so I missed some. I don't know if I can handle watching the rest of this.

Nostradamus said...

Other than DY getting nutted, you're not missing much. I'm suffering through it, but it's getting pretty dismal.

MR.F said...

Hey look, the Twins are threatening.

MR.F said...

Nevermind...

NicJ said...

Jeeze, it looks freezing in Colo. They really shouldnt have a baseball team.

Why was this game played at night and not in the daytime?

Josh S. said...

Oh, thank goodness. The Yanks are up 4-1. I was getting worried the Mainstream Media wouldn't have anything left to talk about.

Whew! Dodged a bullet, boys!

rbnlaw said...

Fillies and Rox tied at 1.

Twinkie pitching really blows.

And Erin; sorry, but I hate the Sox just a little less than the Yanks. The Angels are innocuous. I'm pretty sure I used that correctly.

rbnlaw said...

A fan has run on to the field in the Twinkie game. So much for the Dome's last gasp.

Can I pull a rumor out of my ass?

Ablert's a free agent after 2011. The Yanks will still be tied to Teixiera. God knows what our payroll will look like by that time, but with the Yanks out of the running (maybe) you think we could have a shot?

Anonymous said...

2-1 Rox. Any prefernce here guys?

I think we can beat both, but Colorado would be easier. Getting revenge on Philly would be great, but really all I want is to win.

MR.F said...

I used to like the Red Sox, back when they were the hapless underdogs against the evil Yankee empire. Now they're pretty much that which they hated the most: Evil Empire Lite.

Anonymous said...

One more good thing if the Rox win.

It'll make the fact that the Giants finished 3rd in teh NL West 3 horse race sting even more. Both the teams that finished ahead of them went to the NL Championship.

Nostradamus said...

@PB

Definitely Rox. We've manhandled them most of the year.

@fanerman

I get the Sox as Yanks Lite thing. I figure since I liked'em before Manny and Ortiz did their thing, I probably should stick with them through the current ridiculous espn driven hypefest. Let it be said that I keep my head down a little more than I did pre-2004, though.

The Angels, though? I am officially sick of their shit.

Nostradamus said...

@PB

Smart money says the Cards re-sign Albert before 2011 as long as they have any hope of being competitive.

Hey, Phillie is threatening.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Mr. C, can you help me "enlarge" my avatar through the link? And please no innuendo.

JuanLove said...

Twins just were flat out out manned, and they still had their chances

the Angels are a super version of the Twins.
Thats gonna be a really good series.

Nostradamus said...

MLASF,

Do you mean in the comment view or the click-through to the profile page?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Talk amongst inner circles is that the BoSox might trade Papelblown during the off-season. Talk about a knee-jerk reaction.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Profile page, Mr. C

JuanLove said...

MLASF, they've been talking about that since like last season

he doesnt want a long term deal, and they love Daniel Bard

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

@JL - I read that, but the talk is that because of the blown save, they will do it now instead of, say, a year before his contract runs out, especially since they have an option of Wagner.

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF

OK, how big is the original .jpg? I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I can walk you through what I did.

JuanLove said...

this phils/rox game is gonna be loooooooooooooooooooooong

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I'm not sure how to describe the size, but no matter what I use, the pic always comes out small.

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF

If you are uploading the image, the size should be in pixels underneath the file name. If you are linking to an image online, just right click the image and click properties.

There should be a lot of information listed, it should say something like "200px x 150px" somewhere in the popup.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Okay, my desired pic is 600x480 pixels.

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF

OK, good. Now when you go to your profile, do you upload the image right into the "edit photo", or do you upload to a web album and link to it?

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I've been going into Photo URL, and using "From your computer"

JuanLove said...

dude's got a nice swing

Time to pull another rumor from my ass.

Papelbon to Philly?

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF

OK, I think that's the thing. All your Blogger pictures are stored in a Picasa account linked to your Google/Blogger ID.

I created a public album to keep all my Avi pictures at my fingertips. When I want to change them, I upload the image to my album, then copy the public url into my blogger profile.

If you use several Avis, it's faster and easier. Also, the click-through links to the original image, not the reduced blogger version.

Let me know if that works.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

@Mr. C - It's not working. I keep putting the URL in the line saying "From the web" but nothing happens.

Nostradamus said...

MLASF

Hmmm. It's working for me. Did you try the direct link to the in your browser, just to make sure it's pointing to the right object?

Nostradamus said...

*to the image*

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I am. Is there anything I need to click to begin it, or do I just click "Save Profile"?

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF

No, the picture should just pop up after you put the URL in. Don't forget to make your Picasa album public, or the link won't be visible to anyone but you.

When you have a public album, click the photo you want, it should appear full size. Then right click the full size image and click "copy image location".

Nostradamus said...

If I can get this done in a comment thread, I will appoint myself secretary of bootleg IT solutions.

Nostradamus said...

Apodaca

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

YES!! I GOT IT! YOU ROCK, MR. C!!!

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF

Oh yeah.

(Mr?) Secretary Mr. Customer sounds ok to me!

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Wow. Even in the playoffs El Tito De Bronze has an ERA of over 5

Nostradamus said...

@MLASF

My man likes consistency.

rbnlaw said...

Welcome to Blogger IT Talk.

The crowd at the Rox game looks pissed. I'd be too if I was sitting in 25 degree weather watching my team lose.

Nostradamus said...

@rbnlaw

Games monitored.
Laundry folded.
Beer consumed.
Blogger outwitted.
Prep work for Mon. half-assed.

That's a successful Sunday afternoon in my book.

rbnlaw said...

Mr. C,
Your life seems to mirror my own. . .except for the whole IT thing. Good work on MLASF's avi pic thing.
It's a sweet shot.

I'd also just like to add that the Seth MacFarland domination of Sunday night is not that great. I miss King of the Hill.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

The Cleveland Show is terrible, and I don't even bother watching American Dad. That combined with the downward spiral of the Simpsons has me off FOX Sunday. I miss KotH and Futurama, and while we're at it, Arrested Development. If they get a movie on that, I will see it 10 times.

Nostradamus said...

@rbnlaw

Tell you what, I'll handle html code and building codes, you handle the penal code, and we'll call it a wash.

Family Guy has its moments, but I've never settled in with it.

Josh S. said...

Whoever we face in the NLCS, their pneumonia will make it a cake walk.

rbnlaw said...

The long rumored Futurama movie can't come too soon.

rbnlaw said...

Mr. C:
Deal. I did find the entire quest to fix the pic entertaining.

Rox begin the rally.

Nostradamus said...

Karina spreading good karma for Gonzalez, even in absentia.

Nostradamus said...

Ok, I might have misheard that, but did the TBS announcer just say that Helton's hyperbaric chamber was filled with pure oxygen?

I'm going to say that's probably not right.

Nostradamus said...

fives

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

This is a long game. It's gotta be below freezing in Denver.

Josh S. said...

Mr. C, you heard the TBS announcers say something? All I hear is "wawawawa" like the adults in Peanuts.

So. Dull.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Josh, you'd be bored too if you were watching a game in sub-freezing weather approaching midnight with no sign of a reprieve.

Nostradamus said...

Josh S,

Basically this:

wa-wa-wa wa-wa-wa-wa DANGEROUSLY EXPLOSIVE AND TOXIC wa-wa-wawa, wawawa.

Anonymous said...

Oh well, I was hopping it'd go to 5 games anyway. Wear each other down.

Steve Sax said...

And the Phils eke one out. We'll throw up a proper SWGT tomorrow!

Kyle Baker said...

I was on the road while this thread occurred. Can I just throw in there, re: Angels:

If I hear the Nick Adenhart story one more fucking time, I'm going to rip the god damned throat out of the person who uttered the words, like Swayze did in ROAD HOUSE. Leave it alone already.

Nostradamus said...

@DB

I was at the game Friday night, and the jersey and outfield memorial got the jumbotron treatment a little often for my taste. Having the symbolic 10th man out there is great, I feel it's a bit mawkish to use a tragedy to whip up the crowd every few innings.

JMHO.
