Post-NLCS Game 3 Thread: Dodgers Lose a Squeaker

PHILLIES XI, DODGERS...WHAT'S ZERO IN ROMAN NUMERALS?

Good news! Scott Elbert, Chad Billingsley and Ramon Troncoso only allowed two runs tonight! Unfortunately, they were sandwiched by Hiroki Kuroda (1 1/3 IP, 6 ER, 40.50 NLCS ERA) and Ronald Belisario (1.0 IP, 3 ER). Not sure why Joe Torre kept Kuroda in the second inning to give up two additional runs after the Phillies smacked him around for four in the first, but it's a moot point.

Oh, and Cliff Lee? 8.0 IP, 3H, 10 Ks. And if you're the type to rub salt and orange juice in your wounds, former Dodgers Jayson Werth and Shane Victorino had a home run each, combining for five RBIs.

Pretty shitty, right? But think of it this way: If the Dodgers had scored as many runs as they had in Games 1 and 2 combined, they still would have lost. This one just wasn't meant to be. Stew for a few moments, then move on.

Help us, Randy Wolf, you're our only hope!

I think it's time to sit Blake, move Belliard to third and bring back the O-Dog

hey Kevin Kennedy is back!

NicJ said...

Coincidentally his return comes with an embarrassing loss

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Then I shall blame Kevin Kennedy.

11 runs only means one loss. I agree with you Orel, forget about it and let's just come back tomorrow and smack the hell out of Blanton.

He's the new Eric Collins.

I smell shades of 1960 with the 'Rates and the Stankees. Da Brinck's Bombers blew out 'Burgh in their three wins, but Pitt got four close victories, which means much more.

So who is going to get the NL West champions banner, Frank or Jamie?

We're in the same place we were after game 1. Game 2, game 4, what's the difference.

NicJ said...

If we continue that pattern I think we might run out of games.

Cliff lee has to be the least hateable guy on the phils. Maybe it's because he is new.

Did anyone think starting Hiro was a good idea? We were all hopeful but I don't think anyone is shocked. Ryan Howard is full of crap that it was just their adjustments.

Like I said we win tomorrow and a lot of the pressure is back on them. But the dodgers have to respond and battle tomorrow. A lose tomorrow and we are done.

Oh and I hate Charlie Manuel and his awww shucks good ole boy crap.

Paul said...

Oh have we sold out a playoff game yet? Guess we need to give a bobblehead away.

Damn iPhone typos! The machines have taken over

Just had a thought...how would this series shape up if we had Lee and had signed Pedro off the scrap heap as we did with Vicente?

The Phils wouldn't have a chance...

Matt Kemp: Hit the god damned ball! I don't get to work and forget how to lobby Congressional staff. How do you forget how to hit for this long a period of time?

NicJ said...

Wow andre and kemp have quite different after game attire.

Paul said...

Andre looked like I feel.

I feel like a syphlitic monkey's arse.

Great. Now I'm hearing Donnie Baseball might leave if he gets a managerial spot on another club. I thought he was Torre's heir-apparent, but then again, I guess it's not that apparent.

Honestly this off season now looks very murky. The only thing I know for sure is that I am heading to beantown to see the dodgers and sox.

I always chalked this one up as a loss, and it always stacked up that way on paper. We'll get 'em tomorrow.

See you on the Lost Angels v. Spank-mes GT.

Crusty, out.

"Billingsley cough cough."

Yeah, then we would have only lost FIVE to nothing.

The Dodgers were never going to get Cliff Lee for one simple reason; the farm system is thin on pitching right now. The Fillies gave up "nobody" in the form of AA pitchers who have some hope. The Injuns only saw Kershaw or Bills as trade bait because the cupboard was otherwise bare.
So, don't lament over the loss of Lee. We had no shot.

I keep telling myself that it was only one game. I hope we can show up today!!
