Lunchtime and Afternoon Scoreboard-Watching (9/3): NL West

First game of interest starts at 12.10p: NY Mets serve up Pat Misch (0-1, 3.41) vs. the Rockies' Jason Marquis (14-9, 3.60), in Colorado. Rockies are 4.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.

Second game of interest starts at 4p (at which time our own GT will launch), but it has the Giants' Tim Lincecum (13-4, 2.33) vs. the Phillies' Pedro Martinez (2-0, 4.50). Feel free to use this thread to comment, or go ahead and leak into the Dodgers/Diamondbacks thread that will launch later; we're not provincial here at SoSG. Giants are 5.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.

The Rockies will host the Diamondbacks this weekend, while the Giants move on to Milwaukee Friday to play the ~.500 Brewers.

Comment away, SoSG readers!

Thanks for saving me. F the conf call I was going to join. Now I'm just going to "do some research," watch the scoreboard, and comment away.

Oversized helmet grounds out to complete a 1-2-3 inning for Marquis. Bottom of the first, Rox already have a man on with none out.

I wonder what it's like to have someone like Timmah you get to march out there every 5th day and expect a win?

Kyle Baker said...

I can't even remember what it's like. I've heard tell.

Mets get on the board in the second, thanks to a leadoff double; a Misch GIDP is all that prevents a seventh Met coming to the plate.

1-0 Mets, bottom 2.

@rbnlaw: probably about the same way that Bochy feels about trotting that lineup out every day and expecting a run every fifth day

Kyle Baker said...

Bochy, or Torre...

Steve Sax said...

@DB, ouch. But true, of late.

Remember when we scored 11 runs vs. Cincinnati? It seems like an eternity ago.

That's the thing. We bust out the bats once a blue moon then go back to our slumber. We have to make that regular, or it's going to be a short playoffs.

Mets up 2-0.

The Amazin' Mets!

5-0 Mets going to the sixth; Marquis chased. Wow!

they are a scrappy bunch that's for sure - i am amazed they are competitive at all. Jerry Manuel get a lot of grief, but I think he's done a great job with this triple A team

@ FB

Please...double A at best.

6-0, though no lead is safe at Coors

Clint Barmes HR but it's 6-3 through eight. Come on, Mets, close this out!

Steve Sax said...

@DB, I'm creeped out by this

20 more minutes for Assassin's Circle, over on the main stage.

Steve Sax said...

Dan Murphy HR off Beimel, 8-3 Mets!

Steve Sax said...

Ten more minutes for Assassin's Circle!

Two out 3B in the bottom of the ninth

I love how Sax refers to the Assassin's Circle as "the main stage."
