Game 150 Thread: Sept 20 vs. Frisco, 1p

That Tim Lincecum is one talented guy.

Randy Wolf (10-6, 3.24) vs. Tim Lincecum (14-5, 2.30).
DODGERS' MAGIC NUMBERS: 9 (division), 6 (playoffs)

COMMENTS: The Dodgers could lose today and still claim a moral victory: pounding Brad Penny yesterday and taking the season series from San Francisco. However, that doesn't mean we want them to win any less. Lincecum is, after all, somewhat less effective on the road and the G-Men are facing the pressure of keeping up with the Rockies, victorious last night. For the Dodgers, Randy Wolf gets another chance to prove his elbow is in playoff shape. Wolf is probably also counting the days until Star Wars Night at Dodger Stadium. Don't be surprised to see him helping himself to a Cloneburger with Cheese or two.

Let's take it to Timmeh, and to all the other clowns.

Where is everyone?

Watching the last season of CSI on Netflix and trying to figure out some original Timmmy jokes for when the game starts.

Kyle Baker said...

Old Timmmmmmy jokes are fine, too! Downing a Paulaner Oktober and off to the game.

That's a sweet and appropriate photo, Orel.

Orel said...

Off to another great start. Andres Torres solo HR followed by a Sanchez single.

karina said...

@Mr LASF watching AC Milan-Bologna game and reading.

karina said...

Orel, that's a great record to start a game thread. There isn't enough love in my heart to worship the one and only Patti Smith.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Well, at least the Saints are going to win

Orel said...

I have to admit I'm not familiar with Patti Smith's music.

Dodgers scoreless in the first but Lincecum doesn't look untouchable...yet.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Even with the homer, single, and walk, Randy's only at 30 pitches.

Kyle Baker said...

Hotter than Hades in the Yard. But I'm in the shade.

Let's spot 'em a few runs before we step on their neck.

Reception spotty. Much to report from the game. Gonna have to write it larry king syle. Sitting next to legendary sosg fan 'todd' (possobly not real name). Police appreciation day rocks. Though I almost got hit crossing the street in the parking lot...and not one of the 300 cops seemed to notice. What"s with this ucla day crap.

PenosCabell said...

Orel - You've done it again. Patti Smith picture had me cracking up. Genius.

Delino DeShields, Sr said...

Took me 10 minutes to post that. Still mad about usc loss - compared it to a 1986 hulk hogan losing to a jobber like sal bellomo. Not a fan of the mound cam. Or furcal's music. But they played heart of glass. All is forgiven

Little kid behind me, when Manny was on 1st last inning, yelled "Come on Manny, steal!" Everyone turned around and gave him the stink eye. His dad leaned down and said, "No, let's not ask him to do that..."

karina said...

@Orel you've got rave reviews about the game thread photo!. Congrats.

Well, if you like beautiful imagery with a beatnik touch, a hypnotic androgynous voice and don't mind contents with strong political and religious views, even if they differ from yours, you could give Patti Smith a try, sometime.

Master Randy working the walk.

Pitching around wolf?

Kyle Baker said...

Malt ice cream seller dude looks like Bad Penny. My did he take a tumble after yesterday's outing!

Orel said...

Thanks, PC & Karina!

Orel said...

ANDRE!

Josh S. said...

Oops. Little pitchers and all that. Sorry, Lucas.

karina said...

Ethier spoil us so much.

Kyle Baker said...

That ball did not look like it was going out right until it did.

Josh S. said...

Good thing there's no post-game show today. Steve Lyons can't give the Dodgers crap for relying on the long ball. Even though I'm pretty sure he was also wondering where all the home runs were in the early part of the season.

Orel said...

"And again, it certainly doesn't demean Ethier to say he gets better pitches to hit because Manny's hitting back of him — because after all he has to hit 'em." —Vin

"And he's so cute." —Mrs. Orel

Josh S. said...

Vin, no need to clarify. I'm pretty sure Jeff Kent's not watching. And if he is, he's watching CSN.

karina said...

@Dusty Baker a kid who relies in hit and run, instead of the long ball?. That's one of the reasons mankind has a future, after all.

Orel said...

Back-to-back singles by Kemp and Loney!

Orel said...

Wow! Belly #2 delivers again!

Delino DeShields, Sr said...

Lincecum is not a machine. And sandoval waddles like he's preggers

Orel said...

Belliard's taking money from Hudson's pocket, yet O-Dog is at the top of the dugout congratulating his teammates. Nice.

Delino DeShields, Sr said...

The giants suck chants begin

Orel said...

"Pretty good fake by Freddy Sanchez, but if you're born in Hollywood, you oughta know how to fake it." —Vin

karina said...

Belliard is money, isn't he?

karina said...

Do you want me to translate the high praise that Colletti received today on my local newspaper?

Delino DeShields, Sr said...

Again with the ucla crap. Though nice shout out for karros

Orel said...

Did Vin just refer to UZR?

Orel said...

Si, Karina!

Orel said...

Of all the Dodger games the Delino could have attended, he had to pick UCLA day.

karina said...

I'm watching Yankees-Mariners and one of the announcers said: "Dodgers 4-Giants 1, Andre Ethier 2 RBI HR. I think he's the MVP of that team and should receive some votes for the NL MVP"

Josh S. said...

Timmy's fading in the heat like a goth at Coachella.

Orel said...

Wow, Lincecum is gassed. Bochy with the 5th-inning hook.

Josh S. said...

Did we just chase Lincecum?

Josh S. said...

I know, he chased himself, but they should take credit anyway.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Bye-Bye, Timmy!

Alex Cora said...

Bye Bye Timmy!

Josh S. said...

"I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for that Medders kid!"

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

I want my residuals, AC.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

Manny just missed that one.

Delino DeShields, Sr said...

They benched lincecum?!?!?! It's like in the miracle when the evil russians benched the best goalie in the world. Now pitching... "it doesn,t medders". Roidsy manny would have kcoked that out

Orel said...

Medders WP! 5-1 Dodgers!

Josh S. said...

Dodgers set foot on the playoffs, thanks to Colletti.

Los Angeles.- If we don't count the seasons shortened by strikes, the Dodgers haven't finished on the first place of the division on consecutive seasons since 1977-1978. Neither they have classified for the post-season three times on a 4 year lapse since 1963-1966.
Now they are about to do both things.
Frank McCourt is the owner of the Dodgers and Joe Torre is the manager, but this is Ned Colletti's team. The executive made trades to acquire Andre Ethier and the Dominican-born Manny Ramirez, refused to change Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw, signed Randy Wolf and the Nicaraguan Vicente Padilla.
Since the General Manager took control over the team four years ago, only Philadelphia has accumulated more wins than the Dodgers. Colletti inherited a team with 20 games under .500. Four years later, the Dodgers are 50 games over 500. This season they'll finish with their best record in spite the payroll is 20 millions dollars cheaper.
Unless the Dodgers win the World Series, Colletti's era will be defined for the trades he's made on recent seasons which he's traded prospects for players whose impact have strengthened the team for the final race of the regular season.

Josh S. said...

Dodgers 5, Andres Torres 2

karina said...

Who's this Andres Torres fella?. Whoever he is, i don't like him.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

@Josh - If the score holds, I'll use that line.

karina said...
