Post-Game 150 Thread: Thumping Timmy

DODGERS 6, GIANTS 2

Good night, sweet Giants. The Dodgers greeting a tired Tim Lincecum today almost as rudely as they did Brad Penny yesterday, combined with another Rockies win, has effectively killed San Francisco's playoff chances. Today's offensive heroes are all-of-a-sudden-but-not-really MVP candidate Andre Ethier (with a two-run homer, his 31st, in the third inning) and Marlon Anderson Ronnie Belliard (with a two-run single in the fourth).

Randy Wolf gets his 11th win with six innings of two-run ball, the Kevorkian committee (Hong-Chih Kuo in the seventh, George Sherrill in the eighth and Jonathan Broxton in the ninth) puts the Giants down and keeps them there. Dodgers get their 90th win and are a season-high 30 games over .500. Oh, and the Nationals and Pirates await during the week. Here's to the opposite of sucking!

I find it ironic that the Giants wear the colors of October, yet cannot seem to even reach the month.

The ironing is delicious!

To be fair, the Giants will be playing October 1-4.

They can thank the WBC for that.

I tells ye, Timmah is hurt. Look for the Gnats to shut him down next week.

Oh, did everyone "Talk Like a Pirate Day" yesterday, too?

Magic number is now, what? 9?

Clinch on the road, party at home!

Ravens closing out the Chargers at home.
So Cal football takes another hit.

Oh, and when DB gets here:
Bud Light Lime?

No. Sent the wife to the store to restock.

Now we can start thinking about the post-season. I like our chances vs. Phila. Heavy left hand presence in the Phills line-up, and the Dodgers counter with Kershaw, Wolf, and out of the pen, FLAT BRIM REAPER.

We'll still have to go through St. Looie, but if we hold the best record, there's a chance. Plus, the Redbird offense has gone beddy-bye lately. 2-1 vs the Cubs? Not good.

Half hour to 5 o'clock football and baseball.
This is a magical time of year.

"Kevorkian committee". You're on fire today, Orel.

Disclaimer: i had to search what "Kevorkian" means.

If we play like this, like we're capable, I like our chances against anybody...Yanks would be tough though.

Gnats really improved themselves over yesterday, doubled their run total and halved ours...still lost 6-2 haha. Smells like 30 games over .500 and .600 win pct.

Compare the late season pick-ups.
Them; Garko; bust
Us; Belliard; boom
Them; Penny; bust
Us; Garland; BOOM.
Them; Sanchez; not bad
Us; Sherrill; FLAT FRICKIN' BRIM REAPER.

'Nuff said. DB, get in while the gettin's good.

Oh, and I, too, appreciate the "Kevorkian Kommittee."

Chelsea win a London derby and Dodgers spank Jints to take the series. Looks like another perfect day!

Back from the Yard and working my way through the GT. Loved this:

"Timmy's fading in the heat like a goth at Coachella."

I heckled Timmmy mercilessly. He kept tying his shoe, so I yelled at him to use a double knot. Also to wash and/or cut his hair. Crowd gave him a good razzing as he left.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack.

Loved Manny leaving thru the bullpen when HCK was warming up. Finally came back out. I speculated he needed to drop off a load. I halfway expected Belly, Tranc, Flat Brim Reaper, etc. to come running out onto the field only to have Manny tell them "That wing is closed."

It would be a perfect day if I didn't have to see that beadie-eyed bush idiot flipping a coin to start the Dallas game. I had to see George, too.

What a shitty play to run in the SD vs Baltimore game, you have to let Rivers throw the ball at that point. Fuckin Norv Turner.

By the way, may have been posted already, but here it is:

^ POst-game fellas had a funny take on that news. They said usually - especially with young players - they have good behavior clauses in contracts and the management usually sits down with a young player to tell them that you can't, you know, kill other people.

I just realized that the Friday, Oct. 2 game could very possibly be a "Welcome Home Western Division Champs" game. That's gonna be flippin' sweet. Maybe they'll have postseason-themed fireworks.

Our boys should clinch against the Pirates just shy of heading to chavez ravine II aka San Diego.
Playoff baseball here we come and on top of that we get to virtually knock out the Giants! Life is good.

The win also gives the Dodgers a winning percentage of .600

Wow, umpires actually enforcing the rules in the Sunday night game.

Come on Cubbies, pour on some more.

Cards, schmards.

6-3 Cubs now. Man, our record is looking great.
