Chad Billingsley (5-0, 2.21) vs. Barry Zito (0-2, 3.99).
COMMENTS: Did you get a chance to take a break from Mannymania (the sad kind, not the happy kind)? Good, because it's time to start refocusing on the team. Last night was a bummer, but the bullpen was overdue for a hiccup (okay, a pukefest) after such a smooth stretch.
If there were ever a time for Billingsley to cement his status as the Dodgers' ace and stopper, tonight would be it. Chad the Brave represents stability and consistency—everything these past two days haven't been. Seven strong innings would indeed be a soul-soother.
Zito continues to improve with each start, so he may match Billingsley pitch for pitch. But our bats are primed, fresh off a nine-run night. Russell Martin (2-for-3 with an RBI) and maybe Casey Blake (a home run short of the cycle) are heating up. Now we just need Rafael Furcal (0-for-5 with 3 K's) to get off the ice.
Times are tough for Dodger fans, and you know Giants fans would just love to crap in the punch bowl this weekend. It's already a pity the team's 50th-anniversary celebration of the 1959 World Champion Dodgers was overshadowed last night. Here's hoping the 2009 Dodgers' new winning streak gets the attention it deserves.

There is no joy in Mudville.
well that just killed all momentum available.
Tough, tough call.
No way was that a strike.
That even fooled vin
Gameday calls it a borderline pitch
that was terrible
Ump is a giants fan. Or is just tired and wants to get home.
I realize Gameday is not exact, but it's on the border according to them. Shit.
We had better questec that home plate ump's ass
I want to bury my head in a vat of ice cream
Umps got a date tonight.
I'm going to have to shutdown the computer now. I'll try to follow the last inning on my phone, if I'm not asleep.
I can't figure out what hurts more: 2nd loss of the season at home, first loss for Bills, or first win for Zito?
keep it close TronTron. you saw last night that every run matters
"I want to bury my head in a vat of ice cream"
What flavor?
i keep waiting for a line drive to knock Pierre's glove off his hand
Moose tracks. My favorite. It's chocolate with chocolate swirl and chocolate candies.
hopefully it's not that corn ice cream that Eric Karros loves so much
I wonder what manny's doing right about now?
Off topic - I'm starting to feel like I'll sooner get to the moon than make it to Dodgers Stadium this year. A weinerschnitzel stadium dog just isn't the the same.
In other news, I just found (and sorry I'm so late to this party) the Jacques Lu Cont mix of the Killers' Mr. Brightside.
Well worth the $1.29 on itunes, though the sample 30 second snippet isn't going to tell you much.
how has a 3-1 game gone more than 3 and half hours? Dodger games are turning into Red Sox-Yanks
Make it happen, Delino.
out by a MILE
Russell nails Rentereia at second, by about 50 feet.
According to Forbes, LA-SF is better than Yanks-Sox
Fred: three words
God
Bless
America
Good job, Tron & Mart. Here we go.
Okay!! Let's go!!
50 feet, a mile, same thing
Loney better follow suit and make Wilson throw another 13 pitches
Sax, do you want to keep the ST banner up all weekend or just today?
UCLA nabs the #8 ranked recruiting class for hoops.Hey Orel, guess what commercial just came on the tv?
haha nice, Saxy
i am ready for runs!
Orel, we talked about this at staff meeting this morning. It's not my fault your assistant had you double-booked.
Your call. I don't care. Seems like some people like it more than I thought, but I could pull it today as well.
What do you folks think?
Loney with a single!
Not dead yet...
AHA! Leadoff hit for Loney! Don't care how it comes, important thing is it comes.
James!
Yea, Loooooney!
no DP!
Hah, Steiner just called Pierre the tying run at the plate
Let's ask Manny, he's not doing anything.
C'mon Pierre, just a dunker.
X-Mo has that single going through the legs of the Giants' 2B
And here's JP.
Pierre vs Wilson. Talk a about a mismatch.
Wow, Loney is so slow, Pierre almost got to second before Loney did.
Argh, fc puts Pierre on first instead of Loney
Loney ke3eping the dream alive.
Pierre keeping Sax's hatred alive.
Could have been worse. Speed on the basepaths now.
Come on James, if you're going to lumber, get a frickin jump on the ball.
I want to see James doing some windsprints with the parachute behind him during BP
C'mon Raffy, make like a coupon and redeem yourself.
Maybe we can have a race between Pierre throwing a ball from left field to home, and Loney seeing if he can beat it on foot
nice pun orel
Raffy's going to hit a HR here
There's that bad feeling again.
full count for Raffy
Jiminy Cricket... this ump is bothering me.
I had that bad feeling earlier, but I took some Gas-X
Bright side: No Wilson tomorrow
Does anyone think Furcal is playing hurt?
Furcal seems a little late on his swings, but at least he keeps fouling them off. Still 3-2
If we keep losing everyone is gonna say our record was faker than Ken Burns' hair.
well shit
:(
Okay, that bad feeling is back.
I'm going to get drunk. Who's with me?
ZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTOOOOOO!
"Carlin's Seven Dirty Words!"
Zito is zero no more.
do we hit into a lot of double plays? i think we do....
two sylable words don't work with a Khan reference
Three DP's total
gnite everybody - this all turns around tomorrow
Baseball is mental!
Thanks everybody.
Hey, that ESPN Axis thing is pretty cool. I like how they can bridge camera angles and rotate around the court. Neat.
Go Lakers.
No PGT tonight unless either Sax or Delino feels like putting one up.
48 to go....
Just giving everyone a heads up, Stephen Strasburg just threw a no-hitter tonight against Air Force. 9 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 17 K's, 2 BB's. Finishes season a perfect 11-0.
Man-less Dodgers lose to the Mighty Giants
I enjoyed Star Trek and pretended this game never happened.
patm14: I'm just glad the Padres won't get him.
Will Clark: You know what you should do? Trade Lincecum for some bats!
fanerman: Thumbs up? Thumbs down?
