Dodgers Exhpichting Bhig Things from Schlichting

...at least while he replaces Eric Stults, who has hitched a ride to the disabled list. From Ken Gurnick's blog:

The Dodgers Sunday placed Saturday's starting pitcher, Eric Stults, on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left thumb and recalled right-handed reliever Travis Schlichting from Double-A Chattanooga.

Everytime I hear his last name I think of Alan Alda.

A right-hander? That's crazy talk!

Funny how these injuries are always discovered after a loss or a crappy relief outing.
Stults knew his thumb was bad before the start, why'd he go anyway?

Schlichting looks like he's used primarily out of the pen. His WHIP is a little over one and his SO/Walk is 1.71.
Not bad, but certainly not eye-popping. Guess it was his turn to have some coffee.

He was trying to save his starting job.

If he replaces Stults, who goes down to make room for Kuroda? Ellis?

Rob: Yeah, The plan from when Ellis was called up was for him to be the guy sent down when Hiro came back. Too bad they couldn't get him any playing time while he was up.

Now Leach is the only lefty in the pen. Interesting.
