Holliday! Celebrate! 2009 Cardinals, meet the 2008 Cubs. The Dodgers overcame their regular-season tormentors (they lost five of seven to the Cards) in two strong outings and one incredibly fortunate inning. Now they get a four-day rest while the Rockies and Phillies play snowball in Denver.

Most press coverage will be about CARDINALS LOSE (dodgers win), but don't let that bother you. That's why we're here!

Oh, and kudos to the wise soul at KABC who decided to sync up the radio feed to TBS' picture. It was a real pleasure to win with Vin!

Awesome win, but in my house Vin was still about two seconds ahead of TBS. I dealt with it, though, because it was better than listening to the TBS guys.

the audio on MLB.com was lined up perfectly for me - that fraction of a second makes such a difference

OK, went to HG and lost my ass ($80) playing Hold 'em. I was playing with a Dodger fan and tried to drop some SoSGisms on him to test his cred.

Dude had none.

I'm still so farking happy about this series win, it's hard to put into words until I'm sober.

Bring on the friggin Rox or the Fills. Hell, bring on Baseball Tonight; We will be playing until November.

That's funny you said that about testing dude's cred. Sometimes I do that at games. Like at a urinal during the game I'll drop a Flat Breezy reference, or maybe an "Answer Sent" to the guy next to me in the Dodger Dog line while we're watching the shitty Zenith tube. ONE DAY I'm going to run into someone who can play right back. Maybe it's the "Sons" not the "Dozens" we play...

I guess those decisions to sign Padilla instead of Smoltz, incl him on the playoff roster, and start him Game 3, wasn't all that bad, eh? That was a fucking masterpiece he painted.

Please tell me someone has done a dissertation on the influence of political and international affairs on the wrestling personas of the 1980s/early 90s. At the same time I was supposed to be mad about the Iran hostage situation, we had Volkov/Iron Shiekh stirring the pot, and I think I fell victim as a kid to the propaganda, eventually swept up in a Sgt. Slaughter pro-USA revelry.

[That didn't last long, by the way, despite my GI Joe* fixation.]

FB, that's hilarious. I myself am prone to march through the crib Bushwackers/Sheepherders style during particularly drunken and/or celebratory evenings. Mrs. Dusty LOVES it, and thinks it's funny EACH and EVERY time! She just can't get enough of my tomfoolery.
