Chad Billingsley (12-10, 4.07) vs. Cesar Ramos (0-1, 1.69).
COMMENTS: The Dodgers need one win in their last five games, or one Colorado loss in its last six games, to clinch the NL West. 11 opportunities, and only one has to go the Dodgers' way. And this one won't be it.
No, not with Chad Billingsley on the mound, after his last performance which had a promising start (no ball left the infield until the fourth inning) turned into a disaster on one pitch (a game-tying Ryan Zimmerman three-run HR, leaving Bills with an ND). Not with Manny Ramirez and Casey Blake nursing sore hamstrings. Not with a closer who couldn't take advantage of a three-run lead gift-wrapped to him in the ninth inning on Sunday afternoon. Not with a team who lost three of four in PNC Park, putting them 3-4 on this roadtrip against the majors' worst. Not with a Padre pitcher making the first big-league start of his career.
Nope, it's not going to happen today. Might as well wait until tomorrow.

Chad can't find MSB's miniscule strike zone, one-out walk.
I see where this is going.
I must counteract Sax's pessimism.
Creepy avatar, DB. "Because I'm smaaaaart!"
Matt, who are you betting on tonight?
Chad changed his delivery after he gave up the homerun.
A walk to a powerhouse. Very smart Chad. Now we get to face weak hitting Gonzalez.
Bills has a goatee!
Two walks. Why don't we just take him out by default at the start of the 6th?
It's always on the sixth...
We're all going to diiiiiiie!!!
I believe in you, Chadley!
Who wants a pony?
We go to the 11th still tied Rox/Brews 5-5.
One more Chad!
98 pitches
Two outs! How come this feels like the 9th inning to me?
Fuck, come on man.
RANCHO SANDIEGO
Sweet dancing Moses
KempKershaw, are you watching?
Bases loaded with a rusty Mendoza hitter.
Rancho this isn't god damned little league
here comes the backbreaker
Don't run on the Bison!
Should have been worse.
One run feels like a mountain.
Chad indeed gives up the lead. 2-1 Padres. We suck.
Sax the human straw man?
Nobody even liked my shakespearean reference, early on.
Glenn Hoffman, still a Dodger.
Greg Lukerson in for the Padres.
Chad can still get a win.
Home Lo
Well we have to actually score though.
This is truly awful.
Did Petco put a giant magnet under the infield and a magnet in the balls so all our "hits" go to ground?
I hate to think that's as close as we'll get to a big hit for the rest of the game.
Giambi just popped out, so at least he can't make something happen. Speaking of, Thome coming up.
Thome's magic moment?
DeWitt will start the reaction. It ain't over 'till it's over
Thome will save us all
@sax
"Nobody even liked my shakespearean refernce..."
That was the unkindest cut of all.
Orel, I would have bet on the Dodgers, but it seems that everything is closed in Primm except for the weekends when everyone is driving home! Whiskey Pete, you disappoint me...
Rox win
Rox win!
Frackin' Ianetta. It's all up to us.
Looks like we gotta win it ourselves.
Now we get the satisfaction of earning the clinch.
Thanks for nothing Colorado!
They are really using that big curve against Thome.
SCORE SOME FUCKING RUNS
This is getting brutal
I can't tell if this team has forgotten or remembered that they're the Dodgers.
Sax
what did you say?
All the world is a stage
and all men and women merley players
they have their exits and entrances
and one man his time plays many parts
His acts being blow it in th 6th and holy shit can we do anything right???
I'm starting to question whether Sax and I should really be expressing so much optimism.
I think kuos arm is crapping out again
That's it, Kuo. Walk the catcher who's batting .238 to start the inning.
Well, there's that.
Well, that's game. Another loss.
Kuo no.
There once was a team from L.A.,
Who into October will play;
But Bills needs a fix,
To get past the 6th,
What an embarrassing display.
Just an effort in futility now.
Did he morph into his father? just in time to play the Dodgers?
Reading through the comments, I vote we go back to the Charley Steiner jinx schtick.
It's like watching a game with Eyeore.
There once was a team from L.A.,
Who into October will play;
But can we count on Kuo?
Most might say no,
As we watch him throw this away.
Dodgers just setting up the big come-from-behind victory. Just you wait.
.82 era in 33 innings? Great.
Five outs left
I'm no pro baseball player, but don't batters usually keep an eye out for meatballs down the middle? Especially with a full count?
Now four, plus a strike.
Ethier has been sucking hind teat lately, continuing through that last shit-ass at bat.
Three outs. Let's just hand them the game so we don't have to burn another arm from the 'pen.
I think there is going to be alot of upset LA sports reporters driving back up to LA after the game.
Anyone know our record when Casey Blake is NOT in the lineup. I'm beginning to think he is MVP.
Don't forget, we are still going to the playoffs.
Vin knows the Yiddish vernacular well.
Wow, I'm even annoying me.
Vin always knows how to kick a fan when they are down.
Beto Duran Tweet:
"Reliever Scott Elbert bounced a pitch off the catcher into RF. He'll be in in the 8th"
L*BERT
"We have five more games man" Matt Kemp
Make it four Matt.
I think the whole "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" argument has gone down the drain with this game. There is a recurring trend happening that is freaking me out.
Yeah, it's definitely a trend not an anomaly at this point.
Is there such a thing as choking with a playoff spot already clinched?
Okay, just plugging back in.
Of course Colorado won.
Of course we are about to lose our third straight and fourth of five.
I'm with Sax now. I give up on this game. Bring on whoever pitches tomorrow.
2+1 right here, baby.
Now Bell comes in, that big fat taco loving jerk. I guess we don't have to worry about whether or not KCAL would show the champagne baths.
When I need Bell to save a game he blows it. When I need him to blow it, he looked like Mariano. (just fatter)
How many attempts do you get at clinching a division before you celebratory rights are revoked?
I am done with Manny. DONE.
Two outs left. It would be much more tolerable without the damn caught-looking strikeouts.
I kinda don't know what to say, at this point.
Manny is old, slow and unmedicated.
One out left. Even the regular K's are brutal.
Hurry, put the bubbly away!!
Get your L.A. Wild Card hoodies now!
Manny doesn't even look like he cares one way or another at this point. Lil bitch.
Alot of manny bashing tonight. I guess it somewhat deserved.
Finishing the Job: It has something that has escaped us the last half of the season for the most part. Failing to get guys home from third with less than two outs, letting hitters get away with two strikes, allowing two-out runs to come home after getting a tough second out (many of those with the batter having two strikes), or like tonight, via the two-out wild pitch. When we play like this, we lose. And now, as a team, the poor play during the recent road trip, the last 3 games especially, when accomplishing a goal is right in front of them. I don't mind losing, but I hate it when it's because of poor play. It's all so infuriating to me and I wish they would turn it around.
I couldn't care less about Manny. The entire team is stinking it up.
Fucking fuck and fuckity fuck this is brutal.
When did we turn into the mets?
We'll get 'em tomorrow! Or the next day! Or the next! Maybe! PGTUP
Wow, all K's. We are in a serious funk. Well, I have tixs for Sat, maybe they will clinch then...
i say no bubbly, even when we do clinch
Well put, FB.
FB- No bubbly for us, or them?
Sigh.
