Like Clockwork, Kuo to DL

From "Dodgers to lose reliever Kuo to DL" by Ken Gurnick at Dodgers.com:

The star-crossed left-hander has another injury to that left elbow that has already undergone four operations, including two Tommy John ligament reconstructions. He tried to warm up to go into Friday night's game for the eighth inning, and it was painful to watch.

Kuo made 15 throws in the bullpen, only four of them catchable by the bullpen catcher. Most bounced out of reach, while two sailed over the bullpen gate and rolled into the infield.

"It's his elbow, and he finally admitted it," manager Joe Torre said after Friday night's 1-0 victory over the Padres. "We talked to him and we're going to put him on the DL and get this thing right."

Let's hope Kuo doesn't meet a Brazoban-esque fate, but this has bad situation written all over it. Don't expect him back anytime soon.

UPDATE:

Dodgers promote Brent Leach to replace Kuo (Dodger Thoughts)

Really unfourtunate. Bullpen just keeps getting thinner. I'm guessing they send mac to the pen and call up eric milton :(

Man, do you sleep Orel?

Eric Milton for sure (sigh) and seeing guys like him and Weaver on the hill is not what anyone had in mind.

As long as it's not Elbert with the callup. If it is Milton, I'm curious as to how they will make room on the 40-man.

Send stults back down to the minors I'm guessing.

The story of the season all year will be THE BULLPEN and the Dodger's ability/inability to deal with its weak link.

On a lighter note, Chappy you should know that "Orel" is not a real person, but an android. Hence, he doesn't need to sleep.

News Flash: According to Jon Weisman's Dodger Thoughts, the Dodgers have recalled AA Brent Leach (a lefty) to take Kuo's spot.

Is Leach on the 40-man?

When Vin told us Kuo's warmup pitches were sailing all over the place I had a bad feeling. I've always felt that the Dodgers could build a bullpen from within, and not have to worry about signing free agents. Maybe they should have re-signed Beimel and spent their money on someone better than Mota. Maybe it's time for Ned to start thinking about a trade.

Beimel's on the DL.

Beimel got hurt in a game as a National. Plus Joe Torre didn't like using him for some reason. Ned should have brought him back anyways. The National stink, so they could trade Beimel.

Too bad Leach's wife is a right wing wacko.
