Jamie Speaks

From a Dodgers press release:

Los Angeles Dodgers CEO Jamie McCourt issued the following statement in reaction to today's statements from Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association, and Manny Ramirez.

"We share the disappointment felt by our fans, our players, and every member of our organization. We support the policies of Major League Baseball, and we will welcome Manny back upon his return."

The McCourts don't deserve this. They are truly dedicated to preserving the legacy of Dodger baseball and it's sad that this blight has to be a part of their time in ownership record.

The McCourts are savvy people. I'm sure they will find a way to spin this into some positive press in the future. But you're right Chappy, nobody really deserves this.

A tough break indeed. Look how many of us were clamoring for them to re-sign Manny during the off-season. This is part of that price.

Well said, Chappy. Jamie should have said, "We have $22 million reasons to welcome Manny back in July."

Start lining up the ducks and make a run at Matt Holliday for next season. . .maybe sooner.

McCourt is jerking off because he gets to save 8 million.

Rbnlaw- I don't think we will be seeing any free agents after this event.

Ps. Manny still hasn't technically tested positive for hgh or steroids.

Classic damage control by Jamie McCourt. Let's hope Manny comes back motivated in 2 months. We could have similar momentum to when Furcal came back last year after 4 months of injury...

Good point Nic, but Holliday is younger and (hopefully comes with more upside).
Downside: Can't hit outside of Coors Field.

WHAT THE HELL??? I GO OUT OF TOWN FOR A FEW DAYS AND THIS HAPPENS???

Right at the pinnacle of their game something like this happens.

Hopefully their leaders, namely Martin and Hudson, step up and take charge through this.

We need to circle the Wagons boys!

Yeah, Martin, Furcal, and Loney need to get it together. We're a good team without Manny. We are a juggernaut with Manny. Maybe he can be a good cheerleader till July.

Let's play ball, boys.

We got a game tonight.

I think that we'll be able to handle this.

Exactly Neeebs, that's the slap in the face I needed.

I'm done cryin' in my beer (but I'm not done with my beer by any means).

This is still a damn fine Dodgers squad and they can & will respond to the adversity. Torre may be able to use this as motivation to get a few guys to play up to their full potential.

I don't think any amount of "damage control" will make this story go away or spin it or whatever. The things that I'm most upset about isn't that Manny juices, but that I have tickets to see all 3 games of the Giants series this weekend and I have to watch Juan for Four the whole friggin' time! Why couldn't stupid Bud Selig announce this on Monday, after I went to the games? Doesn't he read my diary?
