HIROKIWATCH: 1 DAY
Eric Milton (1-0, 3.00) vs. Sean Marshall (3-3, 3.70).
COMMENTS: Forget yesterday's loss. Forget Friday's loss. And forget Sean Marshall. Remember 17 games over .500. Remember the Giants losing yesterday and Jim Tracy's gift to the Dodgers: two consecutive wins over the Padres. And remember Eric Milton's first win.
Sure, the Dodgers are a little beat up right now. Eric Stults is pitching with a sore thumb. Casey Blake is nursing another strained hammy. Rafael Furcal is being handled with kid gloves. But a win today would give the team some momentum when they return home and welcome back Hiroki Kuroda against the Diamondbacks.
So remember to forget and don't forget to remember. Go (Dodger) Blue!

bison with the rip
Ok, let's see if it is clutch time for Loretta.
Loretta looked like he was done on that last swing.
"If we had Sunday Night Baseball back in the 80's, we couldn't have been at Wrigley."
Oh, if only. I liked Wrigley without lights.
"A bloop and a blast and the cubs are right back in it." Can someone tell Joe Morgan that hits are not worth 3 and HR are not worth 7?
Was that a beer cup in front of Morgan?
haha, kemp with the block.
BOOOO!!!! Loretta got robbed.
kemp should an rbi on that.
Loretta with the K, sadly no RBI.
8-0 Dodgers! Loving it!
Any reason Gameday sucks so badly after so many years?
"Any reason Gameday sucks so badly after so many years?"
PREMIUM
8-0 after 4.5. Looks good.
Gameday looks like it is ready to blow up after dealing with that last play.
I was going to ask if anyone gets premium Gameday.
Is it worth the money. ($20, right?)
Eric has about 24 more pitches in him, so I hope he makes 'em count.
rbnlaw - I refuse to pay for it, especially considering that they took away the in game video from free Gameday. The only thing I can see being sort of worth it is being able to listen to the games when you are in the office.
thanks espn for showing me how good milton USED to be.
Rbnlaw, rossonero stripes on a soccer uniform is one of the outfits i love the most!
Seriously, Ancelotti had a great run with the team, plenty of success not only in the italian league, but in the international stage. However, putting with the arch-rival Inter winning Scudetto after Scudetto over us and this year mild participation on the Champions League, made a lot of people to think about his dismissal. About the Beckman soap opera, obviously he wanted to return to the european stage and he did, with one of the greatest and richest teams in the world , where he could be admired for his skills and not for his physique and that stylish wife of his.He also wanted to return to the English national soccer team. Let's see how he does with the Galaxy upon his return.
Enough of soccer because they're going to kick us out off this thread.
the fox and the mound part duex.
agreed.
Milton has been so much better than i expected. Congrats!
Milton just had his way with the over exuberant kid.
Nic - Funny thing is, Milton was never all that good. He was a good 4th starter.
rather have a good 4th than an average 5th
Wow. 2 Ks for Pierre
Waddell- so obscure, not in Baseball Prospectus.
nice hit by raf
Nic - Milton was a good 4th 7 years ago, arguably. His problem has always been the massive number of homers he gives up.
Weird, one of his advantages as a hitter is he doesn't strike out much, specially considering he hasn't faced tough pitchers tonight.
O-Dog is due for a HR.
yeah, they just spent about 15 minutes talking about that.
Karina - The guys he faced have been soft-tossing control guys. The problem is that Pierre hasn't taken his bat off his shoulder enough against them.
Once again, I must ask...do that many men really have erectile disfunction? How come I have never met one?
Nic - That Milton gives up a ton of gopher balls?
Ali - yup
Julie - maybe all the commercials are working.
man, miton just made fonzie look foolish.
uh oh.
Espn en Espanol announcer: great defensive play by Juan Pierre, what a throw!. Words i never thought i could hear.
and look who's up.
what a mofo.
next time he's up just plunk him.
People who should be tagged on their next visit to Dodger Stadium:
1. Cody Ross
2. Reed Johnson
5 1/3 is all miltons got tonight.
hopefully hiroki is pitching one of those games.
can the bulpen hold a 6 run lead.
Belly thinks they can.
I really think Milton could have gotten out of that. He got unlucky with the Raffy bobble and the phantom HBP. But Joe loves him some Belly.
phew.
whats up with ESPN and greenday, they play there music all the time now.
Man, fans at Wrigley get fooled by fly balls more than fans at the Ravine, and that's saying something.
Belly gets out of the jam.
OK, I gotta go to a b-day party. Hold on, Blue!
man, hating on the lakers already.
man, what happened to Soto.
kemp, come on dude.
I am glad to see Russell running more. The more he runs, the more power he seems to hit with concurrently.
They need to put out another Votez pour Russell campaign
"Once again, I must ask...do that many men really have erectile disfunction? How come I have never met one?"
Because you only date Dodger fans OH YEAH
the cubs ball boys have to wear khakis?
Again I miss 227! And the swinging singles party from the first inning.
Luckily, if the Dodgers pulverize the Cubs and Delino is not there to witness it, it's still a W.
Go Trolley Dodgers.
Joe Morgan can't quite hide his biases.
nice outing by belly tonight.
Why Ausmus? Shouldn't Ellis, a better hitter and not as good a defender, be doing the PH?
throwing dirty
man, i bet ausmus was wishing ellis was up after that one.
"nice outing by belly tonight."
"Why Ausmus? Shouldn't Ellis, a better hitter and not as good a defender, be doing the PH?"
Can't argue with either of you.
Trouble brewing?
wow, 3 k's for JP
Marmol-aided us with that one.
Hey, I love the scrappy OBs the Dodgers are getting.
Nice hustle in a blow out.
Ok Quebec Mode. Go Earl Weaver on Marmol and break off the doughnut.
2-3 with 2 walks from Martin. He is quietly rebounding.
pinella looks sleepy
Damn. That could have been fun.
TRON!!
Dodgers: 20.4% of runs via HR (lowest in majors)
Loney makes a nice snag.
suck it reed johnson.
loney with the future gold glove.
"Marmol-aided us with that one."
Sweet one!
thanks, orel.
Every time Tronosco plays, I have the theme from the Tron arcade game in my head. (Sax - you know what I'm saying!)
Some pitches even Russ can't block
Hey, Brox is on the team still? i havent seen him in years.
Orel - That shows just how good they are and how much the team OBP has improved.
"I still think the Dodgers are the class of the National League West."
Way to go out on a limb there, Joe.
Joe Morgan - You were one of the best all-around players in the history of baseball. Why are you such a terrible announcer?
sounds like he was writing something down
Sweet Lou seems to think his team is in the lead, with the Marmol-Gregg tandem.
rule one in any form of broadcast media, dont write with a sharpie.
I would love to see Loretta go deep to just rub salt in this.
hey, just showing up for reals now. Great to see that the Dodgers scored both early and often...and on national television, to boot!
"Sweet Lou seems to think his team is in the lead, with the Marmol-Gregg tandem."
Like when Torre used Broxton in Colorado.
Delino, yes I do recall the Tron video game music. thanks for getting that stuck in my head this evening...
dee da dee deee
dee da dee dee da dee dee da dee dee
broxtons warming up right now.
300
Phillips just explained why, Joe.
Sorry, Sax!
Jon Miller SHUT THE F' UP
You are so jealous about the Dodgers' success, you have to spend an entire inning bashing Manny
dre with the PH
Joe, Little League Baseball is "organized baseball", shut your trap already.
Andre sighting!
Joe Morgan, you don't understand how Ramirez can play 10 days in the minr leagues during his suspension? Because, to your logic, minor league baseball is part of baseball?
Well then how come minor league baseball drug use rules are not consistent with major league baseball rules?
Idiot.
i dont remember them saying anything about A-ROD on the yankees game.
We are all dumber for listening to this conversation.
Can we please suspend Joe Morgan 50 games for being a blathering idiot broadcaster
(I'm fine if he goes and calls minor league games during his suspension.)
that was almost a DP,
andre can fall out of bed and fall into a DP
Joe, should Manny be eligible for beer-league softball during his suspension?
What about air hockey?
How about beer pong?
Sudoku?
Thank you Juan! You keep coming through...now you shut these goons the hell up.
Orel, I doubt you are transcribing this convo a la Vinny style to showcase literary magic, are you?
Funny, I don't recall Jon Miller ever discussing Barry Bonds' cloud of improprieties.
Morgan doesnt think manny should be able to play MLB the show while on suspension
I like that Lite beer commercial. OH!
alright brox, make us look good to the national audience.
"Orel, I doubt you are transcribing this convo a la Vinny style to showcase literary magic, are you?"
Great idea!
See ya', Jake Fox.
brox just went fox hunting.
Brox > Fox
didnt brox strike out fonzie to win the NLDS last year?
Let's just get alfonso out and be done with it
Okay, there it is.
DODGERS WIN
No three-game losing streak tonight, my friends.
Ned Colletti>Steve Phillips?
On to sportscenter. Good night, everybody!
Anyone > Steve Phillips
