SI.com Nugget More "Truth" Than "Rumor"

Wow, what a f'ing revelation from SI.com yesterday:

While the designation may have been earned, it may also have meant something more. There seemed something almost symbolic about the Dodgers designating Ronnie Belliard for assignment Tuesday. That cleared a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Trent Oeltjen, called up from Triple A Albuquerque. The Belliard move could be viewed simply as recognition of his failure this year (.216 batting average, .327 slugging percentage in 162 at-bats) ... or that the Dodgers' season is effectively over and it's time to start looking toward next year.

No shit! On that note, let's cut to some other breaking news stories (courtesy of the the HuffPo):

In another news, there's a rivalry between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

Just in case you haven't heard a thing or two about this.

Thanks Karina! I didn't even know that Boston had a major league baseball team.

@Sax: This is more than two years overdue, but I want to give you the biggest nerd high-five for this comment that went criminally unnoticed:

"Steve Sax said...

Kent is 3-for-4 and RAISES his average to .252.

252? Maybe Kent should wear his black costume.

Bravo, sir. Bravo.

.252?

I needed protection in the lineup instead I had kids who listen to their damn loud rap music.

@Josh S: thanks for the spidey-shoutout. Even two years later, I'll take it!

I trust you also read the article re: vermin in Anaheim stadium?
