Post-Game 144 Thread: Congratulations, John Lindsey

ASTROS 7, DODGERS 4

The Dodgers stormed back from an early 4-0 deficit (Carlos Monasterios, 1.1 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 Ks) in the fourth inning with four runs of our own, led by a three-run Jay Gibbons shot as well as a James Loney triple followed by a Russ Mitchell sac fly. But Ramon Troncoso allowed two runs in the fifth to put the game back out of reach.

The feel-good part of the afternoon/morning game (depending on your time zone) was long-time minor leaguer John Lindsey getting his first major league hit:

John Lindsey, who spent 16 years in the Minors before playing in his first Major League game last week, had a fifth-inning pinch-hit single for his first big league hit.

"It was awesome," said Lindsey. "It was a breaking ball, and I saw it. I wanted to be ready when I got something to hit, and it was there and I put a good swing on it. It fell in for me."

Sorry the Dodgers couldn't bring you a win in this game, John, but congratulations. Glad your perseverance paid off!

I just heard on KTLA that the man who was killed by police in Westlake (triggering the violent protests) went by many names.

One of them?

Manuel Ramirez.

The circle is complete.

(Oh yeah, John Lindsey. That's nice too.)

MR F, what do you do?

MR.F said...

Ostensibly, I consult. I should double check to make sure I'm not in the S&M industry.

ahh I switched back to Fred - that feels better

I think you need an assistant

IT consulting? something worse?

MR.F said...

It's an engineering consulting thing. Our deadlines moved on us.

What type of consulting project would merit and all-nighter? Describe the client, please!

MR.F said...

The state of CA? Something like that? Yeah I dunno...

Fred's Brim said...

All-nighters are why go out of the consulting racket. My thoughts are with you in these trying times.

Thanks FB. I've at least reached a state of numbness right now.

How do you keep going? Mountain Dew? 5 Hour Energy?

MR.F said...

I had espresso for awhile. Then some tea. Now I'm just up from daylight and tea. I don't think I need to be here for too much longer.

are you working on something specific or waiting on something? I used to have to wait while other people finished what they were doing. There was nothing for me to do but I couldn't leave, either. It would be the wee hours before I could validate my work when they were done. Murderous rage in me was at an all-time high back then

MR.F said...

I'm working. I don't think we do that waiting thing here. Otherwise maybe I wouldn't be alone in the office (not that I mind that).

Awwww, Mr F. I hope you finish that work soon and get proper rest.

Do you know what works for me? sugar free dark chocolate

Thanks Karina.

Mr F, you can go home now. You have my permission
