Scoreboard Watching: NL West Race Games (Sept 30, Part 1)

While the Dodgers are idle like Billy, NL West games of interest continue! San Francisco hosts the Diamondbacks this afternoon, with Madison Bumgarner (6-6, 3.06) dueling against Barry Enright (6-6, 3.73). I'd like to pick which one of these pitchers I'd prefer to prevail and improve his record, but it's six of one and a half-dozen of the other. Literally.

But I do hate the Giants. So there's that.

First pitch, 12:45p PT.

I get back from Tampa (Tropicana Field sucks, as expected), the Dodgers are off and I have no puzzle to occupy my working hours. I'm so confused it may drive me to drink!

@Jason: we only ran the PCS on Monday off-days this season. sorry!

And sorry you had to visit the Trop. I've been there too. Yucch.

A+ for this post, Sax!

Tears of joy!

@Sax - I blame Mr. C and his VORP season. Also, a lack of desire to do any work at the office. I guess it's midday drinking for me.

Also, I still rate the Trop above Shea, Veterans and Three Rivers. Though, to be fair, they did rightly demolish those atrocities to baseball.

Eyes Without A Face is still my favorite Billy Idol song. The 808 handclaps are the key. For some reason it's on a lot of a bar jukeboxes and I play it whenever I can

@Mr F: awesome, thanks for grading on a curve

@Jason: three rivers and veterans (and riverfront for that matter) were all pits (no pun intended). But Trop is in a bottom tier with Oakland-alameda and whatever-the-marlins-are-calling-it-today. The Trop is like Candlestick-bad.

@FB: a Roland player yourself, I presume?

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell
That one brings back memories.

@FB: I knew someone who thought that song was called "How's About a Face."

Why is Mark Reynolds bunting?

Dammit, I turn on Gameday and KFP hits a solo shot. 1-0 SF.

'Zona has two on with two out in the top if the third but I'm sure will choke it.

I'm glad I decided to leave today off the VORP calendar. My brain's pretty melted.

Called strike three, thanks a lot Chris Young

1-1 on a Enright sac fly. Two out and meant the corners for AZ in the top of the fourth.

Auto-correct strikes again!

Stephen drew grounds out.

OYSTER PUBES!

Josh @ 1:11: "Why is Mark Reynolds bunting?"

Trying to get his average above his strikeout number is my guess.

This is a lot like watching the scoreboard for Europa League action.
Not very interesting when you don't have a dog in the fight (no Michael Vick reference intended).

Andres Torres homerses.

@Sax I would love to get my hands on a real 808 and see what it can do.

Josh S. said...

Oh sure, anyone can win a game if you keep hitting home runs. Where are the gritty infield singles?

Steve Sax said...

4-1 Giants and the Snakes have only three more outs.

Giants win again. Shit.
