Game 2 for your afternoon viewing pleasure is Cubs @ Padres, with San Diego throwing Jon Garland (14-12, 3.58) vs. Tom Gorzelanny (7-9, 4.28). The Padres' 5-5 record in their last 10 (relative to the Giants' 7-3 record, excluding today's game) gives them a 17.3% chance of making the postseason. On the flipside, the Giants and Padres swapped first and second place seven times between Sept 15 and 26--the most since 1901 in that span (according to WSJ/Stats Inc.). Can the Padres stop their freefall now that they've hit terminal velocity on their fall from grace?
First pitch, 3.30p PT.

Scooby-Doo'd.
That avatar is killing me Josh.
It's a Scooby-Doo day here at SoSG! (But don't start this GT in earnest until the Padres game starts...)
...or in Josh's case, in Ernie
My absence has exacerbated the Scooby-Doo factor, since I feel like my frivolous opinion is required in each and every one of them.
Delayed?
Ha! It's raining.
This game is pretty much meaningless now. Giants need only one win to clinch, regardless of this result. The only thing this game has any effect on is the previously mentioned tiebreaker scenario.
Blake deWitt and his .261 average are batting leadoff for the cubbies
Fucking Giants, how I loathe them.
Wooooo! Pitcher's duel!
*dies of boredom*
On the one hand, Padre fans' tears taste like candied bacon.
On the other hand FUCK THE GIANTS!
I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation. I need a vacation.
San Diego is effing terrible.
I will die of laughter if they sweep the Giants.
It's all just a set-up to completely fuck over the Giants and their fans.
At least that's what I keep telling myself.
If SD sweeps, and ATL wins 1 out of three from PHI, both the West and WC will be tied. I assume Giants and Padres would play for the West, and then the loser plays the Braves for the WC?
It's in the hands of the Fryers now to cook the Jints.
@Josh S.: If last season was any indication, they coin-flipped like mad to resolve this possibility should it occur.
Like it's going to happen. Ha.
No baseball night reminds me that the off-season is coming.
Do. Not. Want.
Heath Bell took the loss. That makes me feel better.
@Josh S: I know this was the Mystery Machine over here today, but I wanted to make sure you saw the Contador picture caption.
