Ted Lilly (5-3, 4.12) vs. Tim Stoover Stauffer (4-4, 1.99).

COMMENTS: While my colleague Sax is rooting against the Giants (reluctantly) at the expense of the Dodgers, I say let the cards (not the Cards) fall where they may. I mean, if you're up 6.5 games in late August and fritter it away, maybe you don't deserve to make the post-season.
That doesn't mean we have to watch the Giants make it, though. Remember that the Jim Tracy-led Rockies are in prime position to get hot and blow past the Pads and Gints. It might happen! Just trust me. My name is Stoover.
P.S.: Sphincter*.

NOW they'll win 11 straight.
By the way, ten dollars will not get you a Sphincter Trifecta.
I still dislike Jim Tracy's ridiculous face, but I'd take the Rox over the Hated Ones

Unlike Furcal, I am infamously slow at everything.
The defensive stylings of Mr. C in CF?
Should be entertaining.
I'm in the two-hole, eh? I guess that means I'm free to keep making sphincter jokes.
@Josh:
If you are in the two-hole, how do you account for MB bringing up the rear?
First base for me tonight?
Well i have little power but i promise it will come eventually. I do have a good glove though so that is something.
Right?
@Neeebs: I thought Spanky's the one who always brings up rears.
MB can be a little wild. I will have to be on my toes.
I say first pitch fastball to Gonzo right in the back. That will teach Miss Piggy not to crowd the plate so much.
That's what management likes about me: I can lead off, or clean up; effective either way.
Actually, with 4 kids, clean-up is my natural position in the batting order.
"Bee eye pee tickess. . ."
@NicJ that sounds promising to me!
I guess I deserve to ride the pine tonight. May I pinch hittin, maybe?
Not unlike KKemp, I also tend to strikeout plenty but in another way.
@ Josh S.
OOOOOOOOOOOOH!
I agree with Jon Weisman; if you resign Lilly, bargain with him.
1, maybe 2 years and at a discount.
definitely resign Barajas unless you think AJ Ellis can stay hot for another year.
My warm up song. Fist full of steel - RATM
"Silence...something about silence makes me sick..."
Random fantasy question:
Should I drop Donald Brown (5th string RB) for any of the following:
Ladainian Tomlinson
C.J. Spiller
Tim Hightower
Heath Miller (no back-up TE right now)
Reggie Bush
Justin Forsett
"...unless you think AJ Ellis can stay hot for another year"
I would not have thought this to be a non-ironic statement (it still might be) at the beginning of the season.
well, Bush is hurt and will be so for a while.
depends on your RB depth.
My RB's are: Michael Turner, LeSean McCoy, Jonathon Stewart, Marion Barber, Donald Brown.
My fantasy strategy: see if anyone on my team has a lower "percent owned" than any available free agents. Such is the case with Donald Brown.
well, i have LT on my roster as a backup.
Im reluctant to drop him just because the guy in front of him sucks* and LT looks like he has a little in the tank left.
*sorry spanky.
i guess if you are looking for a bench player/guy to use on a bye week you could go for it.
Kings down 1-0 after the first period.
@ nicJ
I can't argue ,he does. You have to keep an eye on L.T. though cause he is injury prone. Oh wait, that's only in the playoffs.
Greetings All!!
I tune in tonite out of morbid curiosity, like slowing down to look at a train wreck.
Also, I hate the Pods almost as much as I hate the jints
Greetings, Karen.
Epale Y'all
I'm the only woman in the lineup tonight and I LIKE IT!
Paul, not to worry. I promise to be on my best behavior unless sufficiently provoked.
Epale MB!
Do the ladies proud tonite!
@Mr. F
I have Tim Hightower and he has done well for me. I put Reggie Bush on waivers this morning. I didn't think I would ever see that day.
@Karen
I will try but I have my work cut out. Unfortunately I've been placed in the position of bringing up the rear.
Masochists we are.
Don't even talk about He Who Must Not Be Named, MB. I have no compassion for him whatsoever.
We are not losing yet!
And the Giants are down 2-0 to the Cubs in the bottom of the eighth (SF has three more outs with which to play)...J Sanchez watertortured to death (5.2 IP, 2R, 1ER).
Trying to grow a beard since I'm on the hot corner. But thinking of pasting some samples from the neighbors dog on my face cause it ain't comin' out.
Thanks Sax for providing that glimmer of hope.
I'm a Saints fan, but also a USC fan. I cannot support him after what he did.
Unfortunately USC will be paying the price for some time to come.
I still love Eric Dickerson and he destroyed SMU
Not that i care for them
Epale MB! I'll check out Tim Hightower as well, thanks.
Oh Spank, you touch my heart. I was thinking about the SMU scandal when I was addressing LASF. I lived in Dallas at the time and remember what a travesty it was. Several months ago I drove by the campus and it was so cool to see the football team practicing again.
SMU still to this day is the only collegiate football team to get the death penalty.
Giants lost to the Cubs...
Come on, bring Kempy home!
Runner on 3rd. And it's Kemp. WOW
Yeah ED said when the Rams signed him he had to take a paycut!
So is life in "College" Football.
We score!! Puts more pressure on the Pods... I love it!!
We score, we make party!
Craig James took a paycut too.
Damn MB, It has come to party for runs.
Craig lives by Troy Aikman. Despite the cut, he's not doing too badly.
We lower our standards, if only for our sanity.
I am new to college football. What scandal hit SMU?
Go Cubs Go!! Hey hey whaddya say the Cubs are gonna win today! (pukes a little)
goddam fucking Yankees (and especially ESPN). Why didn't they build a roof for that basketball arena of a baseball stadium? And they don't have any hits yet. I know they will tempt me with a no-no and then spoil it in the 8th. Probably Swisher. And after the game is over, they will cut to Broxton blowing an 8th inning lead
Where is the Old Style so I can toast the Cubs and then dump the beer in the dirt.
I'm in one of those moods that I'm ready to party for any reason.
@Karen
This was back in the 80's which are now a very fond haze. If I remember correctly the alumni were pumping money to players and families. SMU was given the kiss of death and had to suspend their football program for many years.
Noooooo Dodgers!!
@ Karen
SMU were paying their athletes for years and they got caught. Destroyed their athletic department for years.
haha, we suck
Geez I type slow.
STOOPID LILLY
Oh this is bad! A homer and Saxy's favorite MSB scores.
I blame that error on NicJ's 5:00pm post.
If Lilly can't keep the ball inside Dodger stadium, I don't want him next year
I'm ready to shave off my fake beard
Why was I held out of the lineup tonight? Was I traded to the Rockies for a player to be named later?
@ FB
You know the ball carries during the day games.
Well, if my glove goes you better get rid of me because im sure not hitting.
That's what I am counting on when I am playing for Colorado
@FB
Rumor has it you were traded to the Mexican League.
You were waived Fred B. So be ready to pitch the 7th.
Epale everyone!
Eickstein is not only a Sax' favorite, he's a Vin's favorite as well.
haha just don't let me face any righties
howdy, karina!
When did Berkman go to the Yanks? And were the hell was I when this happened?
So anyone going to really beat the Phillies anyways?
I feel like I can't complain because I'm fortunate enough to listen to Vin tonight.
at the second trade deadline i believe.
you probably didnt notice because we were too busy basking in the glow of all the deadline acquisitions we got.
Berkman went at the first deadline. I remember because I kept getting tweets from Old Hoss Radborn about how the pressure of playing in New York was slowly driving him insane.
Think we can get Manny back for the last 10?
O.K. MB, I want 3 straight beanballs right out of the gate.
KILL KILL KILL THE PADRES
I will literally give it my best shot!
Just aim at the temples and throw your hardest
Ok, I'm caving in and watching the game. I'm not readily to give up baseball quite yet.
Why isn't Willie Mitchell playing? I really wanted to see how he looked.
@DB and P Ditty, if either of you are around tonight
Do the Hogs have a shot against 'Bama this weekend?
*checks score*
Go Teddy! Screw the Jints!
"Readily"?
I'm not even drunk!
At least Lilly is driving his price down.
We have quite the crowd tonight but Dusty is missing. It's always a bit quieter without his snark. I'm hoping for a party but at least there will be company to drown the sorrow's and share the misery if it should turn to that.
*quickly downs a shot of Karina's optimism
@Mr C I am not ready to be done with baseball yet either, and it makes me sad that it's been over for so long. It feels like such a waste.
RANCHO GRANDSLAMIENDO
and Colorado's season ended when they lost to us the other night
Kershaw now has a slightly better ERA than Ubaldo. It will probably change by the end of the night. Still cool though.
Thank God for Rancho Implodiendo.
nevermind, Ubaldo was just pulled.
I dropped my inept RB and his equally inept teammate is the top rated RB on the free agent list. Classic failure
Shave that smelly thing Blake
haha, MCC threads are complaining that the dodgers are losing on purpose.
Ken Levine is still making jokes about The Decision. Give up, man.
ahh there's the game
I'm watching Hell's Kitchen.
is it me, or does ted lilly's gameday photo make him look a bit like a young bill murray?
this low angle on espn is very strange. The perspective is off - Ludwick looks bigger than Lilly even though he's further away
I'm so glad that MCC thinks that the Dodgers are losing on purpose. It does my heart good to think that we're screwing with their feeble minds somehow
You mean we aren't tanking so we get the most ping pong balls at the draft lottery? The Nets will still manage to stay out of the top 3 so I think we have a shot
i hope we are losing on purpose.
What. A. Bunch. Of. Clowns.
Mr.C is 37 points away from making the espn leaderboard.
Finally on the sofa, Vinny!
BEAN THIS BASTARD!!!!
Hey, I heard that MB! ;-)
Welcome DB, your snark has been missed.
Marcedes Lewis is the third best TE in FF?
I lucked out, i just picked him up because his name reminded me of Al Bundy.
What is this, Kmart blue light specials? These ESPN yahoo's are discussing "value players". I guess it is too much for them to discuss the game at hand.
I just picked up Marcedes because Owen Daniels is hurt and not very good
Don't get your panties in a twist MB. Dodgers aren't going anywhere.
Good quote from Boone about the pitchers in Padres bullpen:
"There are so many of 'em down there capable of being dynamic in the back end."
hehe
kemp angry?
Kemp'd
KKEMP doing what he does best.
Bison throwing a little fit
Changes for the Better for 2011: Matty and RiRi go their separate ways
@FB
I have Owen Daniels and he's sucking hind teat.
So with Manny hitting .255 I guess the story will be he was trying for the Dodgers but now has quit on the Whitesox.
Lilly's not doing that bad. Just that one inning.
@DB indeed
hehe hind teat
we have 3 hits
They are playing our song
aint over till the fat lady sings.
oops.
Manny even quit on his high school team after four years. Jerk.
All I can see of this game is some redhead covered with tattoos uttering semi-coherent sentences about how hectic her life is while running a parlor full of half-wits.
I'm not sure if it's LA Ink or the game.
MB, from the FF thread: "Fantasy Football is sort of like The Assassin's Circle. Once you get a taste it fuels the desire to KILL, KILL, KILL."
So, so true. Well said.
Tony Gwynn sounds like Orel with a really bad cold.
DAMMIT!
I want to care about this time right now; I just can't muster it.
Or mustard it. I had tacos for dinner.
The only thing Manny quit on was being young.
Oh yeah, and he quit on being good at hiding his PEDs too, but that's another matter.
Rick Sutcliffe absolutely gushing about some guy named Jeter, saying he is the face of baseball. He must be good and probably never hits into lots of double plays or has mediocre range
@DB, MB
No one overly competitive in our league. Not a one.
He also quit on his barber.
@Paul
I absolutely do not think I know what I'm doing. I don't know 3/4 of the player names since I don't follow NFL as much as I once did.
Nonetheless, I'm 2-0. Dare I say "I'll take it!"?
I like watching KJ
@Paul
Too true.
Wait that isn't Tony is that Aaron Fucking Boone??
I am changing it.
I definitely don't know what I'm doing. My prayer is that I'm not at the bottom of the board when all is said and done. So far it's been great fun and definitely a learning experience.
just once i'd like the giants and padres to suck this badly when we're going for the division crown.
It's about time, MB! Next time get more of him!
Mr. C
You can say that as you are the one running away with the points :D
How does the guy who knows what he's doing end up with the least amount of points? Damn you, karma!
@el montanero: agreed, even Arizona has been putting up a fight. They never go down as easy as we've been going down.
*stays away from obvious joke about that high school girl we all knew*
Thanks FB. It's taken some time to get in the groove of tonights game. I'm now ready to KILL, KILL, KILL. Hopefully it's not too little too late.
I <3 KJ74.
@MB you've got a couple more chances I think. You can nail the first batter and then the second, but they'll toss you after that one
FB, it's worth the risk.
I have a cousin named Mike Adams
My cousin could strike out Ryan Theriot too
go for it, MB. we got your back
as long as the batter doesn't charge the mound with his bat. Then you'll see me hightailing it outta there
@ fred's: i think that girl from high school could strike out theriot, as well.
I want to see Ackbar hit a homerun
hehe you know it!
I would like Ranch Ardiendo with a grand slam!
We have to cash in all our wishes for that one
Make it a 'Dre Day,'Dre
So much for that
and with that, I am gonna hit the hay
gnite yall
gnite Fred.
Suddenly it got quiet
DIE DIE DIE
Hey Hey a runner thrown out trying to steal. We make party
We really have lowered our standards.
Taiwan will touch your heart!
@MLASF:
The Kings took a split squad to Col, b/c they play two games tomorrow against Phoenix. One at Staples and one in Phoenix.
To drive home my excitement for hockey season, I'll be at Staples, center ice, for the first home preseason hockey game.
We will have no standards by the end of the season. Not that some of us have any now.
@Neeebs - Lucky bastard. Season tickets, right?
I'm throwing my laptop through the motherfucking wall the piece of shit.
I think my use of the word "shit" angered Jorge Arangure.
I'm glad they kept Doughty and Mitchell together. I really want to see how they interact on the blue line, especially with primary guys like Kopitar and Brown.
@MLASF:
Partial season. If you want to meet for a game, let me know. Usually something opens around the holidays.
My quota is usually a game a season. Between food, tickets and transportation, that's about all I can muster.
KKEMP walked. We make party.
@MB
I may lead in points, but Dusty still beat my ass up and down the street in week 1, and it took a last second miracle to pull out a win in week 2.
I'm sure I'm due ti come back to the 60-80 range soon.
For the record, I wasn't excluding myself from the group of the overly competitive. I've caused tears to be shed on more than one occasion.
@MLASF:
Iix on me. You'll have to fend for parking and food.
Mr. C - exactly my point. You were not excluded. Do me a favor, when we go up against each other please don't make me cry :)
If Beard hits a homer I'll paste that dog beard back on
And that's game.
Another Dodger loss:
Garth Brooks - Low Places
@MB
I've mellowed (somewhat)
Another game, another loss.
Belle & Sebastian - The Blues Are Still Blue
Sphincter!
Oh, and PGT up.
Travis Tritt:
T-R-O-U-B-L-E
@Neeebs - I usually just save up for good seats for a premier matchup. Last year I saw the Kings beat the Caps. This year I'm hoping to get tickets for when the Blackhawks come to town.
@MLASF:
I got the best seats in the house.
Suit yourself.
Yes-Close to the Edge
PGT up, homiez.
200
@Spanky:
"Close to the Edge."
Arguably my favorite Yes song.
