Post-Game 140 Thread: Screwing The Giants

PADRES 4, DODGERS 0

Only the Dodgers could make a series sweep by a team who had lost 10 straight seem almost...believable! And instead of the two runs they scored Monday or the one run they scored yesterday, the Dodgers were completely shutout tonight (which means tomorrow, they'll score (-1) runs). Leading the way were 0-fers from Scott Podsednik (+ 2Ks), Ryan Theriot, Casey Blake, Rod Barajas, Reed Johnson, and new Dodger Russ Mitchell who went 0-for-2 with a K and an error. Chad Billingsley couldn't make it out of the sixth inning (4 ER in 5.1 IP, 5 BB, 6 Ks) and took the loss.

More importantly, the Dodgers' loss coupled with the Giants' loss means the Padres have a two-game lead on the second-place Giants, heading into a four-game weekend series between those two teams. SF is also two back of Atlanta in the Wild Card. And I hope you Giants-screwers are now practiced in the art of rooting for the Padres, because we'll have to do so all weekend long.

It is after midnight here. I'm surly and I will not be able to sleep. It feels so strange to lose for the sake of taking one for the team. Adding to the aggravartion is pulling for teams that you normally wouldn't. There is something so very wrong with this picture.

Mr. LASF - to say you are primed for football would be an understatement. That's not exactly how I envision going to sleep.

Then I guess I'm just a different person.

Do they have designated riot hours?

Josh S. said...

Apparently. Nothing goes on during the day, and then after dark people start going at it. These people are either brave or reeeaaally stupid to keep getting in the faces of the freaking RAMPART DIVISION.

I said it earlier but I will say it again.

"Hey, you know what would be a good idea? I'mma taunt the guy with the riot gear! Absolutely no repercussions there!"

John Lindsey is scheduled to start Saturday, according to Dylan Hernandez and others.

@Josh S 10:38p: I don't think the Dodgers could even get third place in the Rampart Division.

Josh S. said...

I'm pretty sure the ability to hit is a requirement to play in the Rampart Division, Sax.

Personally a Mattress fire bomb attack on Petco Saturday would suffice.

@ MB

I can sing a lullaby for you. Your choice of any song by Slayer.

LOL at the local news calling the thugs and punks in Westlake, "protesters." More like "rank-amateur testers."

They also had the bubble-headed bleach blonde who came on at five and told me about a plane crash where no one survived.

MB,
See my last comment in the GT. Tell the kids at Double Dave's on Blanco that I sent you.
Don't tell them I stole a glass last time I was there.

In the words of V. Scully, "G'nite everybody."

The Dodgers. Kick 'em when they're down.

@RB
Thanks for the suggestion. I think Double Dave's has been closed for quite a few hours. I can't say that I have ever frequented it. For pizza this girl likes Il Sognio or Dough. A little pricey but must tries the next time you are in the city. Hey, I never claimed to be a cheap date : )

RB, you thief. Not to worry. Your secret is safe with me.

Re: My glass theft.

Double Dave's is an AYCE pizza place in the greater San Antonio area. Food is not great, but the kids love it, and it's cheap. Beer selection is outstanding, especially when compared to like businesses in So Cal.

Their pint glasses carry advertisements for local services, most notably, DUI attorneys. The irony of the glass was too sweet to just forget, so I took one as a memento of my visit.
