Clayton Kershaw (12-10, 2.85) vs. Jason Hammel (10-8, 4.45 ERA).

COMMENTS: Bit of a paradox today: Expectations couldn't be lower for the Dodgers, yet hopes couldn't be higher for Kershaw — especially after his last start, a CG shutout of the Giants. Tell you what, Clayton: Toss a perfect game today and we'll forgive the rest of the Dodgers' season. Deal?
Sax here. As a glutton for punishment, I'm heading back to the Stadium again today.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 250 of 250What's happened to the Giants. Not impressive
3 players have netted me exactly zero points in the first half.
@Dusty
had any goof vino lately?
Harvest finally arrived for some
of the Syrah on the central coast. The Northerners still wait.
Lol I meant good.
Just hanging with my friend Mr. Pinot in the Noir.
All is well.
Eli Manning is bad at football.
the classic laker game on FSW is a good one.
2000 WCF game 7.
@Rbn
can't wait for Oct/Nov. Optimal Pinot Noir time.
No way, I get the win in garbage time.
MR C WINS ON A GARBAGE TIME TD!!!!!
congrats Mr. C
Sorry, jason.
I was already chalking up 0-2.
what an exciting finish
If Pierre Thomas gets 8 points I'm screwed.
he will get 6
my only hope is if he gets a receiving TD.
They could be at the goal line and brees would still go for the pass.
Brees better be on his game tomorrow. And the 9ers better have an airtight rush defense.
One final score, though the others are pretty much decided. Our's is the only tossup, Nic.
the 49ers only gave up 8 rushing points total last week.
Still, compared to where i was i like my chances.
But that was against Seattle.
I like Thomas, but I hope he gets a very mild concussion that keeps him out for the game.

If I lose, I at least won't be the only one without a win through the first two weeks.
If I win, well, then it sucks to be Jason.
Hey, what about that extra-inning Dodgers victory?!?!
@Paul
I had some solid wine in FL but nothing much to write home about locally lately. Cakebread sauv blanc kicked ass. Looking for a really good midweek red for this week; something I can snag from next to top shelf at local Von's.
@Dusty: Cakebread is one of my favorite white wines...
I've already penciled Nic in for the victory in my weekly wrap-up. Either I will be prophetic or I will dance in the streets naked.
@Sax
Cakebread is the shit. Although I dig their reds most of all. Went there on my honeymoon 12 yrs ago for the first time, and have gone back to do some tastings a couple of others times since then. They have grown a lot but still give one of the most generous testings around.
manny up at the plate for the white sox with a chance to win the game
and he k's to end the game.
poor manny.
im the only hope to get us over the 100 point mark.
Our match was like watching a dodgers intrasquad scrimmage.
Losing Ryan Grant is really going to screw me over.
Purple Row has it's own Karina. Here name is prettyinpurple and she possesses unbridled optimism.
@Sax ,Dusty
we have some cakebread verticals of their Chardonnay from 2003. The last 03 might be past it time but I had to hold one.
I use to love their Cab and Rubiyat but it has seem a bit thin for the price point.
@Paul
Yeah my asessment wasn't price point based....just taste-wise.
@Dusty
As far as the tasting experience at cakebread I love it there. I need to go back soon.
I always send people that way because they don't make a bad variety in my goober opinion.
I think they just had keep up with everyone in Napa on the prices. I get that Rubiayt red blend every year. The last two haven't been as good but the expectations from me were high.
I think Gibby needs glasses. Ive seen better reads off the bat in softball games.
Klinker brick Zin from Lodi is around a lot of markets and is at 16 bucks a bottle. If you like those coffee strong valley zins like I do.
@Paul
Yeah great tasting experience there. On our honeymoon we went there and it was a quaint walkin kind of thing. Loved it. Bought the wine and the t-shirts. Stored a few jugs of cabernet back for many years.
So when we went to Napa last (a few years ago, with fam), I recommended we got back. Drove up and saw huge tour buses, long line, etc. Was confused. Walked in and they asked when my appointment was. I kinda laughed...I got it. But I was nice and said gosh how things had changed since we honeymooned there a decade ago, glad to see they were doing well, etc. in a respectful way. They went out of their way to squeeze all of us into a tasting and were really cool about it all. had an excellent tasting right there amongst the casks. And I mean they laid de shit out. We tasted every damn thing they offer, incl top shelf Benchland Select. Just kicked ass.
Anyway, I always steer people there because of the quality of their wine and the fact that they went out of their way to accommodate us...feel like I owe them a thank you.
Oh, I do Paul. I do.
So, like, all we need is for the Rockies, Padres, and Giants to lose all their games and for us to win all ours, right?
THEN, WE WILL SHOCK THE WORLD.
(That was for Karina. Peace out, homegirl.)
We will rally around Mr. C and we will play good baseball.
Your trust is (probably) unfounded.
Mr. C rumor has it you are a prodigy. A fantasy fooball Bobby Fischer if you will.
So, when can I expect to go crazy and move to Iceland?
I have Dec. 4th in the "when Mr. C goes crazy" pool.
Love this place late at night.
Hate that I'm disqualified from the pool.
Late Night at the SOSG bar:
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
@Dusty,
Next month begins a succession of milestone birthdays for some of MB's friends. Each of us has a big shindig planned in different locales.
MB's is planned for of all places Napa. She and 5 of her Texas gal pals will be descending on the valley. We plan on renting a limo to hit the wineries. Cakebread, and Duckhorn are definitely on the list. One of my friend's loves Opus but do you have to go to Mondavi for that one? Mondavi is not real high on my list and I've been there before. Do you have suggestions on others?
@Sax, how thrilling that you were at a game we actually won. Did you stick for the whole game? Hopefully it gave our boys a much needed shot in the arm. I would like to see them wreak havoc with the remaining games that are left.
