On Second Thought, Maybe Wainwright Has A Point

I just went back and checked my DVR recording of the 2009 NLDS Game 2, on frame-by-frame advance. And now that I've looked at it, maybe Adam Wainwright's concern has some validity.

Aw, nuts.

OT, but I'm not sure where this goes:

As I was smoking a victory cigar in the parking lot after the game (Macanudo, for the record), waiting for traffic to (somewhat) clear out, a guy walked by me wearing a hate that said "Lasorda University." I complimented this fella on the hat, and he said, in fact, he'd lunched with Lasorda that very day. I replied "I hope you didn't have to pick up the tab!"

Dude was pretty well hammered so didn't quite pick up on my riff on Lasorda's eating habits, but I thought it was a good line. Don't know what this Lasorda University bit is, though.

Rally towels in 04, and in 06 and in 08. Funny no one complained about them then. What a lame excuse.

Just noted a Dodger Thoughts post pointing out that most people weren't even waving the damned things because spirits were mostly down given the dire situation, and the immediate perception that the ball was going to be caught. I can confirm that I wasn't waving mine, and most people around me weren't waving theirs. Specifically, I was chewing on my nails alternating with folding my hands behind my head in desperation.

Truth be told. On Loney's hit I nervously took off my hat and scratched my head right when Loney sent the ball to left field.

Because I just shaved my head, I'm pretty sure that the glare from my dome caused MH to be temporarily blinded by the light.

It had to be because he was wrapped up like a deuce right afterward.

To tie in with Delino's post.

"It goes on forever—and—oh my God—it's full of towels!"

Oh for Holliday's nuts.

Per DT:
1. Abreu going to AZ as the PTBNL.
2. O-Dog permanently benched.

Man, as I was reading, I was thinking about how I could jump in with that line, but you went ahead and finished it out yourself. Nice work!

The O-Dog benching is kinda sad, knowing what a great guy he is. I'm betting he has his "moment" at some point during the postseason.

O-benching is kinda sad, but it's also the right thing to do. And he's right there to pick up any slack when needed (hear that, Belly#2 groin?).

It's a long playoffs, and everyone usually gets their moment, whether it's 1 hit or every start. Baseball playoffs is littered with stories of the most unlikely heroes emerging to shine (see: Mark Loretta).

I back both these boys. Let's get some runs!

One thing I know is Holliday will be requesting that someone leave the Bourbon on the self.

Even Benny Ayala got a post-season hit (world series 1983, 1-for-1)

There's a video of Wainwright saying that on espn.com

It's understandable that he's mad, but he sounds like a complete D-bag
