Hiroki Kuroda (0-0, -.--) vs. Clifton Phifer Lee (0-0, -.--).
The Dodgers and 'Steaks take their competition for the ultimate prize to the cold, wet confines of Citizens Bank Park (while that other L.A. team is gladly trading freezing rain for sunshine after going down 2-0 to the Yankees).
Plan A for the Dodgers: Beat Cliff Lee, who was 14-13 with a 3.22 ERA during the regular season. Hmmm, Plan A might not be so easy. Plan B: Get into Philly's bullpen. After all, it worked in Game 2 (and almost in Game 1). But how many pitches will it take to knock out Lee?
Quite a few, as it turns out. In 24 of Lee's 34 starts this season, he threw over 100 pitches. Three times he threw 122 pitches, and once he threw 124. So will the Dodgers swing early or try to go deep into counts? Will they have a Plan C?
Kuroda hasn't pitched in a real game in nearly three weeks, but Joe Torre made a wise choice for the Dodgers' toughest start of the season. Kuroda combines the experience of a veteran with the toughness of, well, someone who took a nasty line drive to the head and came back stronger than before. It doesn't hurt that Kuroda was actually more effective on the road this season, going 6-3 in away games and 2-4 at Dodger Stadium.
So grab that poncho and melt that Cheez Whiz — we're going to be in Philadelphia for a few days.
GO DODGERS!

«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 435 of 435Okay, so it will have to be a 12-run comeback then. No biggie.
Victorino. Why did it have to be Victorino?
Goodbye season.
hmmmm. 9 isn't going to be enough.
Now with 100% more suck!
Now we'll score 10 in the ninth.
That's it. Just get all the runs out today.
Karina, this season is slowly slipping away. You might be able to get away with shaving your playoff beard at this point.

just setting it up!
We need Chan Ho and a double slam right now, at least we'd be within 3...
Great. Insult to injury is seeing Victorino in the dugout sharing a pumpkin spice latte and discussing Miro with his teammates.
Werth hasn't homered since the first inning....He's due.
another 2-out run? you can do it, Phillies!
We've got 'em right where we want 'em!
@Fred's Brim
i'm quiet and depressed watching the game.
I think Karina's broken.
you disappoint me, Phillies, you really do
win tomorrow, and this game is erased
Not even Mark Loretta can save us now.
If they lose tomorrow I'd rather them not come back. Just let the phillies celebrate on their own field for a change.
i agree nic
Boys, I want you all to go back to your hotel rooms tonight and think about what you've done.
At least we've gotten into their pen.
agreed JL - we can definitely do it too
Don't worry. 11-0 is the same as 1-0, or 11-10. We got owned, but it still counts as just 1 game.
At least Belly 2.0 doesn't quit.
that was fun, let's never speak of this again
LCS are funny things boys and girls. We are in the exact same spot as in 1988 so far.
what the fuck is up with their victory song?
/bitter
Can two dudes dressed in black suits come over and flash little light pens at me so I won't remember any of this?
Fanerman-
Agree re diff in score, but I'm worried about this crushing defeat on our young guys. 1-0 is same thing as 11-0 on the series count, but what about our fragile psyche?
Or my fragile psyche?
Who knows. But this may also be an easier game to forget than losing 1-0 on a walk-off in the bottom of the 9th.
MFGDSOBGTUP
gnite all
get some sleep, have a good Monday and lets turn this right back on them. We have bounced back before and we can do it again
What is Kevin Kennedy doing back?
