The Minotaur Has Landed; Games 2-4 Starters Also Named

Clayton Kershaw gets the nod to start Game 1 (from Jon Weisman at Dodger Thoughts).

Minotaur vs. Hamels it is!

UPDATE AND BUMP (6:48p): Vicente Padilla slated to start Game 2; Hiroki Kuroda for Game 3; Randy Wolf for Game 4 as per espn radio. News is confirmed on Dodgers.com, with the additional news that Jon Garland has been left off the NLCS roster altogether, and Jeff Weaver and Russell Martin have been sent home with the flu. Wonderful.

DodgertownUSA (Dodgers' Tweet feed) reporting:

"Kershaw, Padilla, Kuroda and Wolf"

Don't know if it means that's the order or just who will be in the rotation. So we at least can glean that Hiro is on like fuckin Donkey Kong, presumably to throw at Victorino's head.

Game One lineup:

Furcal SS
Ethier RF
Ramirez LF
Kemp CF
Blake 3B
Loney 1B
Belliard 2B
Martin C
Kershaw P

Just getting in my practice...

I can now report that I believe that to indeed be the rotation order.

Wolf pitched his way to the back of the rotation, while Billingsley non-pitched his way out of the rotation. Intriguing.

^Sorry for the split infinitive above.

Wolf #4 is curious. Why not throw lefty after lefty, and watch Howard twist the night away?

I do like The Bison in clean-up rather than the 2 hole.

Interesting...very interesting.

Looks like Garland will get the short straw on this one.

Andre hitting 2nd against a lefty? Hmmmm....

When do you think I should show up Friday for game 2? I'm thinking early (like 9:30 am) to chug beers and grill in Elyisan Park. Anyone else going?

rbnlaw said...

Devil (HLACK) tempt me not.

That time sounds about right. For 12:30 kick-off at UCLA games, our time of arrival is around 9:30. First beer at 9:31.

We have to unpack the cooler first. It's the only way I can explain the delay.

Garland has a decent ERA in post season, but posted those numbers in 2005. Bills was strong last year and will likely see action in a long relief role if Kershaw falters.

In other words, not bloody likely.

Captain Obvious, out.

Man, HLACK, you make me want to forget what I done learned about being a responsible, professional career man and instead throw it all away for one morning of beer chugging, grilling, then some Dodgers watching.

Must...not...browse to...Stub Hub.

hmmm Wolf back to fourth. He pitched well in Philly back in May, and maybe Joe thinks Padilla's best shot is at home in 2 and maybe 6, then Hiro in a possible game 7

In other news; What the hell is up with Argentina? Maradona has done a fine job with that side.
Sheesh.

Engerland looked fine today. But what is up with all the "Coles" they have?

Kyle Baker said...

Ashley and Joe Cole are alright, but watch out for that Carlton guy.

re: Maradona

Couldn't happen to a better guy! That cheatin' git!

Argentina sneaks in under the wire.

rbnlaw said...

As the BBC said, did you really want to see Uruguay in the WC?

Argentina it is.

The MLS All-Stars are losing to Costa Rica 2-0. Sloppy, uninspired play from the Yanks. Jozy Altidore showed up. Donovan waking up.

@rbn

Uruguay may yet have their chance v Honduras on the play-in. Ecuador is hosed, though.

rbnlaw said...

Carlton Cole gives England something to think about as does Gareth Barry. US still dismal at the half.

Also,

7 Draws Brazil? Really? Somebody has been goldbricking in the qualifiers.

rbnlaw said...

Mr C.
I read about the play-off system being used this year. The writers seemed as confused as I was. The bottom line of the article was, "Wait until everyone has played, then watch the play-offs."
Qualifying out of Europe seemed harder this year as well. Poor Ireland came so close.

rbnlaw said...

Commentators are saying watch out for Chile in South Africa. Brazil may not be the best team from America Sur.

Neeebs (The Original) said...

Viva Chile Mierda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nostradamus said...

@rbn

Dude, Rep. of Ireland definitely in the running for the remaining 4 European slots, so hope remains (I guess they would draw Russia, but who the hell really knows).

I'm all for having some competition for the Brazilians. They're amazing to watch, but I get really tired of them beating everyone else into submission.

The guy I work with is from Ireland and is a typical Irish supporter. All he could talk about was letting Italy get away with that last gasp goal. He really feels Ireland's got no chance. I'd just like to see a different Euro team get in. well, I guess I got that with Serbia.

DB,
The BBC was pimpin' ol' Carlton. England has so much talent. Too bad it can't all show up to the same game.

As for the Americans; great finish against a scrappy Costa Rican side. Great ending to the match.

Now we should be careful; MLASF is foaming at the mouth.

What is this, Sons of Pelé now?

Kyle Baker said...

Sorry, Josh S.

"No baseball or PCS make Mr. C..."

"...Go crazy?"

"Don't mind if I do!"

Kyle Baker said...

Now look what you've done to Mr. C. We really should have planned for this.

I feel like we're all stuck in a remote, snowed-in off-season hotel with nothing to do. I'll just ride a little tricycle around and around and around the place for awhile...

If Weaver and Martin have swine flu, they should be thankful. It did wonders for Padilla!
