It sure does, my similarly-named brotha.

DB's toothpick has snapped.

I picked an awful time to stop believin'.

It sucks but it ain't over.

Also, i think we could listen to "Everybody Hurts"

You know what is weird is this is the exact type of game we were all refering to when we were thinking about the positives of being blown out in game 3.

We are broke with no job and everyone hates us but at least we have our health. Oh we have two weeks to live now.

I won't stop believing and i'd absolutely love to tell you "i told you so"

Those walks always come back to bite you in the ass. Why was Broxton pitching around Matt Stairs? So Stairs took him deep last year. This was Broxton's turn to put on the hurt.

And why was Wolf challenging Howard with a 3-1 count in the first inning?

I don't get it

@karina

There's nothing else I'd rather hear, to be sure.

A day will come when some sober perspective on this will be appropriate.

Today is not that day.

G'nite all.

I want to go to sleep, but I'm afraid I'll be seeing that line drive in my nightmares.

We can win Wednesday. With Padilla against Hamels, we sure as hell can win Wednesday. Friday? Well, maybe. With Pedro and Kershaw, the two of them are wild cards. Nothing's out of the question there. But Saturday? No chance in hell, not with Lee going. If we can send this thing back to LA, then it will be a small moral victory. But moral victories don't mean jack shit in the bigs.

personally i would not like to see the phils celebrate on our field again, but whatever ive lost the will to care about baseball for a while.

Paul said...

I don't know how we score runs to take this back to LA. Unless padilla can do exactly what he did in game 2 and that is tough to do against that lineup.

Mr. Customer said...

Briefly back to say there's not a finer group of people to be face-down-in-the-gutter absolutely fucking miserable with than y'all.

That is all.

Paul said...

Cheers Mr. C

i can only dream that we can all share in the most improbable 3 game winning streak by our team.

Still it has been a lot of fun.

Nick said...

God why am I so emotionally tied to the Dodgers? I can't see myself going about my daily activities tomorrow. I hate the Phillies.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

I'm shutting myself off from baseball until pitchers and catchers report, or at least they make a big splash in the off-season. Until then, go Lakers!

Ubragg said...

It hurts, boy does it hurt, but we win tomorrow, and we are still back on serve with the home field. Just need one road win and two home wins to make it to the promised land. We did just that about a week ago and had to beat two Lee-caliber pitchers to do so. It ain't over. Just get the win on Wednesday.

I wonder what it feels like to live with complete optimism.

Anyone check out the strike zone map yet?

For comparison, here's the one for the Yanks/Angels game

I wish the league had given us a real goddamn umpire.

that's amazing, chexxum

After a night of reflection, I have decided that Broxton being afraid of Matt Stairs was way more disappointing than the walkoff hit.

Paul said...

I hate waking up with an emotional hangover.

This will be a long day. I wish I had taken my day off today to just rot at home. But no I have Friday off just in case there is a game 6. I am making alternate plans to cope with this dodger depression.

Dusty Baker said...

I am still sad this morning.

rbnlaw said...

What's the Frequency karina?

Fred's Brim said...

me too DB - it took me a long time to fall asleep last night and I was up way to early early

and Josh, you are absolutely right RE Stairs

cigarcow said...

Another great season for Sons of Steve Garvey! Thanks, guys. I'll be spending the rest of the post season over at Sons of Doug DeCinces.

rbnlaw said...

@ Josh,
Right and it needs to be said. A guy who isn't afraid to challenge Albert PooHoles with 98mph heat up in the zone, throws four wide ones to a guy who went 0 for 31 at one point this season.

No rhyme; no reason.

Dr. Geek said...

Where the hell is Bull Pullman to give this Dodger team a speech that will rouse it from its slumber?

Josh S. said...

And even if Stairs homers, it's only tied!

(He wouldn't have homered.)

Josh S. said...

Most embarrassing headline EVER.

mpearse89 said...

^Broxton did admit that he was pitching around Stairs, so that title is justified.

I still can't get over that our All Star closer was afraid of someone. Most closers would relish the opportunity to get even with someone.

Paul said...

I have had to work with a court examiner with the last name of Stairs all morning. I hate this.

Mike Sharperson Lives! said...

@ chexxum
Just gives me nightmare flashbacks of that Wolf curve that broke right over the center of the plate, belt high. For a ball.

Still, Broxton's pitches were 4 wide, 1 HBP, and one dead center-in. Theres enough blame to go around for everybody.

fanerman said...

I don't remember reading that Berenstain Bears book as a kid...

Hong Like a Chih Kuo said...

This game was conspired against the Dodgers from the first inning. The umpire was squeezing Randy Wolf so bad (2 called balls that were CLEARLY over the plate) and then not returning the favor when Martin struck out looking (same pitch location as the pitches to Howard).

I'm over it. I'm not watching game 5, a possible game 6, or the possible game 7. There's no way in hell they win game 5 though, this balloon is DEFLATED.

Shaqfor3 said...

damn this sucks ass
im still in shock
this game was ours
and i was surprised too that brox was afraid to pitch to stairs
and what are the godamn chances jimmy rollins smashes a 98 mph fastball???
honestly i doubt they can recover from this
i know if they can get game 5 and bring the series back home theres still a chance, but having to face lee again basically shoots down what ever confidence i have left...if the phillies get to the world series i hope they get swept by the yankees or angels....
