Randy Wolf vs. Joe Blanton.
COMMENTS: See those numbers atop the post, and how some of them have a strike line through them, and some of them don't? Math geniuses might have gleaned that it marks how many wins we have to achieve this postseason to claim the ultimate title. And we've got just about the same amount of marks now as we had last year, after sweeping another NL Central team in the first round (the Cubs), only to hit a roadblock against the Phillies.
In fact, there's a lot of parallels to where we were last year at this time. Down two games to one, we were coasting along with a 5-3 lead in 2008 NLCS Game 4, having scored five runs off of the same Philly starter we'll face tonight, Joe Blanton (5 ER in 7 IP in 2008 NLCS Game 4; 12-8 with a 4.05 ERA in 2009). We then met up against Shane Victorino and Matt Stairs, both of whom hit two-run home runs in the eighth to put the Phillies ahead for good. Game 4 was the backbreaker last year, and this year's Game 4 looks to be the series fulcrum again.
This time around, however, things will be different. For one thing, we've got Randy Wolf going for us; Wolf was yanked early (after 3.2 IP, with the lead) in Game 1 of the NLDS, and hasn't pitched in 12 days. He may be rusty, but he'll be rested and ready to go deep; his 2.78 road ERA, fifth in the league, also bodes well. And even Philly fans love and respect Randy Wolf, even though he's a Dodger now.
For another thing, we've got karma on our side (not to mention Fox, who would love a Dodgers-Yankees World Series). And karma will take down reliable, trusted players just the same as anyone else in its wake. Matt Holliday? Bonk. Chase Utley? Bonk. The Phillies might have slept well last night, but the karma police will come, and that fridge-buzzing is about to become a detuned radio.
And finally, they've got Chan Ho Park on their this time around, unlike last year. That alone may be keeping our playoff odds at 33% for this series, even down 2-1 and playing the next two on the road (we were at 57% for the NLCS prior to last night's aberration).
We can strike out the "7" after tonight's game. We can bring the series back to Los Angeles. We can win this series. We can do it. I believe.
LET'S GO, DODGERS!

cmon - it's OK to take in situations like this
Awful awful swing.
I vote for sax to get a beer, but when this one's in the bag.
Raffy!
STROKED!!!
Raffy!
there we go
Matty do you have anything else to say tonight?
Don't change a thing Sax.
Furcal! A hit.
Kemp v. Lidge!
Nice shot Furcal!
Five more feet to the right and that would have been an easy double, even on Shane.
Damn I thought that ball was headed to the gap.
Oooooh brad lidge, I'm terrified.
Here comes Lidge!
Cue the Avodart commercial!
Brad Lidge is back.
Whoops, make that FloMax. Same thing.
Charlie Manuel is only 65???
Man the chargers suck this year.
In 2003, when the Red Sox had a 5-1 lead in the seventh, my grandmother called to congratulate me on the win. I freaked out and hung up on her, and sure enough, Grady left Pedro in, and the rest is history.
Tonight, my Aunt Jorgena sent me a message on Facebook one hour ago that said, "Congratulations on the win."
I nearly barfed.
But enough of that. Let's all watch Brad Lidge blow it.
Boy, all those guys seem so happy, I kinda want to take FloMax just for the heck of it.
Let's go Bison- Let's go! *clap clap*
Let's beat up on Blidge...
Time for Kemp to get Lidge to crack.
hehe nice, Saxy
Erin, I've found Aunt Jorgena on facebook and have disabled her account. Neeebs is also staking out her house right now to make sure she doesn't get back on the internet.
Erin, that's hilarious. The Curse of the Well-Meaning Aunt.
We were listening to TBS this whole time, but Vin is on now.
Thanks Nic
I left that giant comment hanging like a Lidge curve ball
ugh Erin, I would have immediately canceled my facebook account if somebody did that to me
Erin, that's SCARY. I always get really upset when people do that.
Dudes, I don't know what you all are talking about. Lidge is NAILS. He's going to shut us down. He's got st least two saves in the postseason this year already!
I feel less tense, but I need some insurance to make me feel better.
We're as good as done here. Lidge will get the two more outs. He is AUTOMATIC.
She probably just saw the score and thought it was final or something. I don't know what she was thinking.
Did everyone hear that brad lidge was back?
Aunt Request: DENIED!
We have to face Ruiz again no matter what, right?
@Erin
I listen to Vin whenever possible- even tho I have to put up with those knuckleheads in the middle of the game... >.<
Lidge is like, unbeatable!
Lidge knows he an only get one out with a pickoff, right?
I'd love to switch to Vin, but I'm afraid to change anything. Or even move.
Ball 2 to Kemp!
I listened to Vin last night, but the delay from the radio to DirecTV was making me crazy. And to switch up the mojo, I had to change things tonight. But no more. Christine wanted to put on Vin when she said to herself, "the deuces are wild" in the last inning.
2-0
Bison. Do your thang
Or take a pitch.
A Blidge Too Far
I heard lidge is unbeatable.
Stay patient, Kemp.
Stay thirsty, my friends.
If you look "unbeatable" up in the dictionary...never mind.
Blidge over the River Kwai.
Vin sounds a little sick.
Ouch.
Did Blidge get his mojo back after Fat Bastard took it after last year?
Vin said he had a cold earlier.
That's a big lead.
That was ball 3. Though who knows if Furcal would have gotten caught.
I had another heart attack when Furcal took off there.
This game is making my aura itchy.
Good eye, Matty!
MOther of god...this is just too stressful.
Bad news/good news.
Damnit Matt. Oh well, he's had better at-bats on the whole today.
yikes that was nearly a momentum-building double play
Look who's up!
I hear Ruiz does other things on his knees, too, Vin.
Christine says that saying that is not becoming of a lady, but I don't care.
double off the wall for Matty?
Matty helped Blidge there sadly
I'm on the verge of either a stroke or a heart attack.
i mean Dre
Ruiz just told Lidge. "you know your back?"
Same as a sacrifice, I guess.
Ethier...overdue. Can't type very well at this point.
At least we are giving chase a beating tonight.
All you, E
Needed to be said, Erin. I mean what you said, not Christine.
@karina save your heart attack or stroke for the bottom of the inning!
I heard Lidge is back.
@dusty baker
tell me about it. i spent the last inning under a blanket watching through a peephole.
Crazy pitch to take Andre.
Very unladylike, Erin. We approve.
WP! Furky at thirdky!
Lidge's wild pitch is BACK!
How about another one, Blidge?
Crazy umpire! Fuck you!
Wow. Really? Again?
LIDGE IS BACK!!!
Andre - I'm pissed too.
E, that may have been a little outside, but you can't watch that go by when you are playing in these big boy games.
Man we are getting zoneraped tonight.
That's a word right?
On a god damn strike three again. That's unbelievable. Torre should play this game under protest.
Stupid ump.
Can Brox get the ~z men?
Nice. Well I am not well. This is too much.
Oh, and:
HITAFS
I bet we won't get that kind
of call to end the game.
Really, DB. Like this ump is going to give us anything.
I was going to make an angry reply about Ted Barret but that was actually one of his better calls tonight.
YES I KNOW IT WAS A BALL BUT WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS IT WASN'T AS HORRIBLE AS 30 OTHER CALLS HE MADE TONIGHT
SKGLSAGAKLHGAKWLEYH0OI4KLAGLKAEGL,MASG
If I spontaneously discorporate, please alert the authorities.
JB is probably thinking back to the one he blew in philly back in may. Ruiz crushed a double off him to tie it in the ninth, but we won it in the 10th. please let this one go 1-2-3 - i dont think I could take anything more
Oh, this is so brutal.
Not an inspiring first pitch.
Oh, and Matt Stairs is on deck. Christ.
Oh sweet Jesus...STAIRS.
Guess who's on deck....
Where's Phil Jackson? He needs to talk smack about the umps.
The man of my nightmares is on deck
ONE DOWN
Just two more outs...
Matt Stairs... agh.
Stairs
(Teeth grinding)
Does Charlie Manuel use the same script? Matt Stairs??? Again?
Wow. Rematch!
Normally I'd say plunk him, just on principle, but it can't be risked now.
REDEMPTION TIME
I wouldn't have it any other way.
Broxton is pitching scared.
I think Broxton walks Stairs here.
Falling behind, yay
Come on Brox. Keep it down
I think brox is scared.
Unintentional IBB.
Walking him is so dangerous. Means the winning run comes to the plate. Ugh. So scary. How can we handle this? Why do we do this to ourselves?
Not that down. Sjdjfjdkdkdjd!
The question is, will Broxton be able to find the strike zone now?
ugh Ruiz now - i hate this
I mean, it's Ruiz, for god's sake.
I don't like this.
Now Broxton never holds people on...this is bad...
Broxton was shitting his pants just looking at Stairs.
Ugh, now it's Ruiz.
A 123 would be way to easy.
And brox doesn't get to many dp balls.
Sorry about that, had to run for a second. I see we didn't score off of Lidge.
I also see a runner on first with one away. Oh, no.
I can see a defensive indifference coming on :(
Did Vin just say "flied to rape"?
Oh god.
what the shit?
Another Broxton meltdown. Great.
Game over.
Oh crap.
HBP and i have trouble to breathe
I'll go one further, Nic. If we lose here, series over.
Dobbs DP here.
...
Oh fuck.
Why is Tracy Morgan wearing a Philly Jersey.
we arent losing this!
Where's Karina when we need her?
Eyes closed until this game is over. No more typing. For me, I mean.
strike one
Wonderful. Men on first and second.
i just get home from work and this is my welcome?
We've got to earn this win.
Faith people, faith in the Ox
TWO OUT
Nice! One more.
Whew, for out #2
Nicely done, Beard.
Just one more.
J-Roll is up.
Still, a basehit ties this game
*gack*
One more boys and girls.
Just one more
that looked dangerous for a sec. then it didnt
Noice! uno mas! mo hitotsu! one more, baby!
I FUCKING HATE BROXTON...I have NEVER trusted him...
Come on Broxton!!!
Thanks Karina, we needed that.
BRING IT!
nice swing at poop
IRON MAN!
I am a wee bit tense.
I can't hear. My chest hurts. Come on make it 1-2
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK
FUCK
FUUUUUCCCCKKKK
So, series over.
...
I have no words for that.
that went poorly
Over and out.
Can't say that was unexpected.
FUCK!
Just want to add the war is not lost.Remember the Red Sox
I'm going to go cry now...
If you really want to define momentum now, just look at the Phillies.
I guess we'll get 'em next year.
And karina is right. It's not over.
I really, really can't believe that just happened, even if I didn't have that much faith in Broxton.
Awful.
We had so much hate for everybody else, we forgot to save some for Jimmy Rollins.
Oh, and...FUCK!!!!!
Nights peeps...I am highly disgusted...we had this game won and GAVE the fucker away...
Believe! it ain't over 'till it's over.
I thought i'd never say this but i do hate Jimmy Rollins and i don't care he was the MVP of the last Aguilas championship title.
It IS over. We ain't coming back. We aren't the Red Sox. Not gonna happen.
Dammit. I need that beer.
There's no way I'm going to be able to stomach the WS.
Season is over. You don't come back from that.
dont even bother coming back to LA. Let the Phils celebrate on their own field for once.
That was a backbreaker.
What do we do with Broxton? For two years in a row, he's shown he can't hold/save the big games. This is the big stage, and he's one big fat fail. No cake for him tonight.
I just can't believe it happened.
When's Game 5?
Tonight, playing the role of Brad Lidge is...
haha, the dodgers have a day off to relish in the victory....
wait...
