100SS: Day 9 Results

The penultimate game of 100SS brought a new leader at the top of the standings, thanks to a precision performance from Mr LA Sports Fan! For those scoring at home:

100: Mr LA SF grabs +100; karina -10, rbnlaw -20, Gagne's Lucky Glasses -30

200: Mr. LA Sports Fan also grabs +200; Neeebs -20

Mr LA Sports Fan has the lead with 1860, taking advantage of Orel (who was working last night's game from the press box). Sidebar updated!

FINAL GAME TONIGHT! And I can tell you, since post-game scoring is such a pain, this game might not come around for a while. Good luck to everyone this evening!

I won't have access to a computer until 9, so Orel will probably get the 100. My goal is to snag the 200 and pad my lead.

My goal is to not let that happen.

Oooh! Trash talk!

It is you who is the punk.

Everybody else's goal should be to stop youse twos.

If this were Final Jeopardy where you must choose the amount you win or lose based on what will best cover your opponents' possible outcomes, I would have a chance.

Alas, I see no sign of Alex Trebek. I think I am locked into the bronze.

Don't make me remove my glove.

EK has a good point. What if we could wager points based on winning claims?

Orel said...

Because Sax doesn't have enough to do already.

Looks like, barring a late charge from J. Steve, I will have to settle for my 4th place standing. Off the podium, but I get the berth in the Champions League this year.

Hey Sax, here are a few minor tweaks to the scoring system I'd like to see implemented:

1) Instead of multiples of 100, let's make it multiples of 13. More opportunities to score = more fun!

2) Along that same principle, why are we counting only 'claiming' comments? We should count all comments.

3) Howzabout we add a rolling 10- or 15-thread succubus mistress to the scoring to prevent leaders from resting on their laurels (and give newbies a chance to catch up). Great idea, no?

4) Why do this with just game threads? Let's tally 'em up for the comment threads of ALL SoSG posts. And this shouldn't be any extra work because we make non-GT posts all the time anyways. Funny how the best ideas are sometimes the simplest!

Hope these 4 little requests aren't too much trouble. Thanks Sax!

EK just wants to saddle Sax with more work.

I'd take bets that MLASF is using the two computer technique.

@EK, I like idea #3 with the succubus. Reminds me of the Whammy.

@EK: no worries, it's no trouble at all! I'll start from October 2006 and work forward from there. In fact, I'll keep a cumulative total as well and award separate prizes for that game.

Eric Karros said...

Thanks Sax, you're the best! I'd help you retroactively tabulate back to Oct '06, but you're so good at it I'm sure you're already done. I mean it's been over an hour (lol)! So what are the all-time standings? Don't keep us in suspense!

...and with that I conclude my unsolicited impression of a maddeningly patronizing, over-demanding, and totally clueless co-worker.

Office Space!

Steve Sax said...

@EK: Yeah, I'll get right on that.

Right after I fill out my TPS report.
