It does. That happened to me. The gate didn't break, though. It just bounced back up.
It was one of those ones wit padding on the bottom, so no serious head trauma or anything. I just wasn't paying attention to where I was in relation to the gate.

That happened to my cousin at Knott's Berry Farm when we were kids. She spun around like a cartoon character ... you could practically see the circle of birds dancing around her head.
