DODGERS' RECORD WITHOUT MANNY: 19-12
Clayton Kershaw (3-4, 4.26) vs. Kevin Correia (2-4, 5.13).
COMMENTS: CK vs. KC. The Dodgers aim for a season-high 21 games over .500 tonight after last night's pleasantly refreshing display of power. For the Pads, the 28-year-old Correia continues to be statistically pretty much the same slightly below-average pitcher he was with the Giants. Meanwhile, the Dodgers' 21-year-old Kershaw looks to develop his ability to pitch deeper into games. He's 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA lifetime against San Diego.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 344 of 344we got the wave and a beachball in one shot there.
The ump's selective eyesight has returned.
I miss those days when Mike Brito used to sit behind the plate with the radar and send hand signals up to the announcers telling them the speed.
Now we have the farking wave.
got him! nice throw by russ
and he did it over adrian.
NAILED!
Nic,
You mean Edgar.
and gonzo goes down swinging at junk,
now lets get some runs!
haha, i should have know by the right handed batter.
i just thought adrian lost a lot of weight in between innings.
Weaver's made one mistake. Hopefully he can go to the 7th and hand it off. He's really earned his keep in a couple of tough long relief situations.
Ah, good. Second page. Should be easier to follow the thread on my iPod now.
kemp pops weaver out of the game.
the hoff's up.
Of course, Torre calls him back. Well, Wade has looked better.
I still can't believe Hoffmann come up to Ghost Riders in the Sky.
Doesn't exactly "scream pump me up!"
11 down in a row, it seems like alot of pitchers are getting gem performances off of us.
C'mon, 2 out nightmare.
I don't know... Well I'm sure many of you will disagree with me but I didn't like it when Torre removed Kershaw out of the game with a 2-0 count.... Yes I understand that Kershaw sucked today. He was terrible! I know. But...why not let him get out of that jam? And if you were going to remove him, why didn't you do it before he tossed those two balls?
Just my opinion...
damn, 12 in a row.
"I still can't believe Hoffmann come up to Ghost Riders in the Sky."
If he came out to the old Country Bear Jamboree version, that would be awesome.
This is how you work a count
BEAST MODE DEACTIVATED
Josh S,
So true.
Hoff sort of looks like the big bear who sang the "puddles of blood" song.
I like bringing Wade back slowly as a middle inning trouble shooter.
I'm getting tired of holding my breath when Furcal fields a ball.
Wade is getting his nasty back. I like it.
I hear you, Roberto, but Kershaw had every chance to get himself out of those jams. He didn't even come close.
Weak grounders from the Padres. This is more like it.
wade looked good.
Orel - Kershaw really had little control over those jams. The ump wouldn't call anything less than a heater down the pipe a strike.
Another Kershaw ball. Is David Stern running MLB now?
The strike zone was a big factor. But a pitcher has to learn to adjust.
Orel - It is hard to adjust to that zone and not get hammered something awful.
Cory Wade...Cory Wade...Cory Wade
True, very true.
finally the SD pen is warming up. were getting nowhere with Correia
nice outing by wade
For the record, I do not like the the mini buffalo ranch chicken sandwich commercial.
Of course, there's no where to go but down from the MSB heights.
just couldn't quite reach all those notes. Nice attempt though
Okay. I'm back. Same score from when I left.
One of the better GBAs I've heard sung. 8 of 10, imho.
yes!! bullpen time.
DVR finally caught up. Took a while to get the kids to bed and lunches made.
RBN: For the record, mini neeebs has been singing the Mini Sirloin Chix burger song all nite.
Also, I'm informed that Chile just qualified for the World Cup with a win over Bolivia today.
Now let's get some runs.
"just couldn't quite reach all those notes. Nice attempt though"
Very charitable of you.
Time for Beard Power
YES!! the work on the pen already starts.
Now that's a good start.
BEARD MODE
Beardly!
haha, orel. Thumbs down for you?
HIRSUTE MODE
That's Jasper Beardly to you.
That's a paddlin'
Nice work, Chile.
I love this Burke character.
Bring him home, Russ
walk our worries away.
Tying run aboard. Forkal to bunt?
So I've been told, Chile has a great coach. What the hell does a coach do in soccer?
As long as it's not an out.
The Curse of Correia is being lifted! Two on, no out!
"haha, orel. Thumbs down for you?"
Didn't hear much. Didn't like what I heard.
Neebs,
He fills out the line up card and looks very concerned during the match
are you kidding me?!
knock one out Mattie.
Time for Kemp to shine.
Crappy ump.
Rbn: That's what I thought.
Patience young Bison, patience.
What did I say? This guy's all over the zone.
gotta get the runners in kemp, i have lost faith in loretta.
Lay off the slider, Matty!
Big pitch coming.
Important pitch here.
what a way to ruin an inning.
Nice hit and run.
oof
Dammit.
Um...that's the opposite of what I wanted.
That was our opportunity.
Bearded leadoff 2b!
55 follows with a walk!
And we waste it all!
well, one more inning before we get to see heath bell and his odd mechanics.
Not a good idea Joe!!
Are there Padre blogs that follow the games? Just wondering.
Wrong Gonzalez to throw at.
do the padres have any fans left?
nice, DP.
Some runs would be nice now.
GIDP!
Orel, you're the numbers guy. How would we be on this homestand depending on our outcome tonight?
Nice DP raffy.
dont stop believing!
do it Dewitt!
alright lead off walk, lets get it going.
BDW with the walk. Time for Beast Mode!
"Orel, you're the numbers guy. How would we be on this homestand depending on our outcome tonight?"
6-3 with a win, 5-4 with a loss.
Go with the pitch, Slappy.
Stayin' Alive
Shin music!
pierre should of hung in there, that was a free base
300
299
fights off all those pitches for a soft fly to left.
Crap. Nice pull MLASF.
298?
damn, maybe he can get a HR with someone on.
Juan Pierre is a waste!!!
Anemic.
Time to unleash the O-Dog.
Come on, Dre!
I'm Ron Burgundy?
I love scotch, scotchy scotch scotch.
wow, that hurt.
Now would be a nice time for another Ethier HR. Pretend it's the ninth, andre!
at least its one game closer to manny.
Well that was a total loss.
Padres' staff: Unhittable?
man on second and no outs and we cant get the run in!
ridiculous.
Ugh. Hopefully we can rough up Heath Bell. We owe him one (and haven't seen him since opening week, right?).
"And they called it Sant Iago, which in German means whale's vagina."
Time for ice cream.
taco's warming up in the padres pen
I like him where he is, but lately I've been wishing Tron could be a starter.
Tron is this year's Joe Beimal.
I say that because he hasn't given up a homer all season.
And I say that because the inning is over and any ironic turn of events is now impossible.
I just wonder if there's something wrong with Kershaw. I mean besides the obvious.
C'mon Dodgers, mess up my Post-Game Thread!
its been a rough June for most of the club
Pierre - 263 (coming back)
Hudson - 138
Loney - 250
Blake - 240
Martin - 130
Furcal - 250
andre and Kemp are the only dudes doing anything worth a hoot. Kemp is the only guy that hasn't had a bad week yet.
Bell given up two runs in an inning only once this season, May 30th against the Rockies.
kershaw's only 21, i think alot of people see his potential and want him to be at his Max. He will come around.
Ring the Bell.
What's with that little "me me me" finger dance Bell does?
"And I say that because the inning is over and any ironic turn of events is now impossible."
Tron's arm just fell off!
That's not ironic.
there you go dear.
Loney keeps hope alive!
Nic,
Agree. Didn't see his mechanics tonight, so I'm not sure why he was so wild. Hopefully no injury.
"That's not ironic."
Darn you and your literary precision.
what if tron would have hurt his arm slipping on joe beimels old robe. that would be kind of ironic.
Bell does that same "lean in and let the arm hang" thing Brox does.
Well that killed it. I'm calling it.
That was expected.
GIDP? ugh
Thats the game.
That's the ballgame.
russ caps off a worthless night.
SF won tonight also.
I believe Bell leads the league, if not the majors, with his 18 saves.
Post-Game Thread up.
