DODGERS' RECORD WITHOUT MANNY: 27-19
Hiroki Kuroda (2-3, 3.44) vs. Garrett Olson (2-2, 4.95).
COMMENTS: Dodgers' record in interleague play: 9-8
date | opponent | series record |
5/22-24 | Angels | 1-2 |
6/12-14 | Rangers | 2-1 |
6/16-18 | A's | 2-1 |
6/19-21 | Angels | 2-1 |
6/23-25 | White Sox | 1-2 |
6/26-28 | Mariners | 1-1 |
So the Dodgers are assured of at least a .500 interleague record, but a win today would give them a much more agreeable winning interleague record. Add to that a hopeful National League win in the All-Star Game (hello, Albert Pujols!) and we'll have a second half to savor.
The Padres touched Olson for six earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in his last start. Kuroda nearly threw a complete game in his last start. Conditions are ripe. Let's hope the bats reappear.
(Dodger Thoughts guru Jon Weisman will be signing copies of his book, 100 Things Dodgers Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die, at Dodger Stadium today. Details here.)

Dusto should be happy with that lineup.
I'm killing time watching Braves/Red Sox on TBS and the announcers devoted a few minutes to explaining why Blake, Hudson, Ethier, and Pierre should be in the All-Star Game. It was surprising, but nice to hear.
Oh, and I'm going to another party during the game, so here's hoping my eating during a game mojo continues!
Load up that plate, Josh!
Heh, I was cooking during yesterday's game, so I guess the trick is I can't prepare my own food.
Time to hire a personal chef. Take one for the team.
Just got Weisman to sign my book. And guess what? He reads my blog!!
Congrats, Erin! hope you have a great pre-birthday!
I'm watching the Confederations Cup. I was rooting so hard for the USA...
The USA looked great in the first half. But completely fell apart after that early goal in the second. Very dissapointing.
My countrymen are affecting the Dodgers way too much.Manufactured run:single, stolen base, single.
Dodgers 0-Seattle 1
However, Nic j, the USA were the best team on the cup. No team which have won the Confederations Cup, have not won the World Cup.
The U.S. soccer team is the team with more growth on the continent. They had a great America Cup and it wouldn't surprise lots of people if they make it to the World Cup semifinals.
*edit: any team that won the Confederations Cup, did not win the World Cup.
Ichiro reaches with one out. They are running on Kuroda today...
Beltre to have shoulder surgery after this game, and then will be out for two months.
I feel bad for him, and I have to admit I miss Beltre, though less so, finally, since we've gotten Blake.
Beltre singles for an RBI, making it 2-0 M's.
Not looking good today. Sf and col looked poised to win too.
Griffey is up, and guess what they're talking about?
Griffey's injuries! Surprise!
The Kid pops to the infield.
The little league dodgers are out again.
This is depressing.
Kuroda isn't exactly fooling anyone today. Kemp didn't really have a shot on that ball. It was hit hard.
4 runs seems impossible to overcome right now.
If the Padres can score six on this guy, there is absolutely no reason we can't score twelve.
It's the third inning. Two thirds of the game have to be completed, let's show some support.
It is so hot out here. I'm off to find a seat in the shade after the Dodgers bat.
Sorry for being so negative.
You're right, it's early. There is a lot of game left to be played.
Looks like Felix is still pitching.
Kemp goes deep.
They can overcome the difference. 3 home run a night boy is at the home plate.
The Seattle lead cut in half.
4-2 Mariners
Andre swung on 3-0 with that sac fly, right? I don't like that move. I know it scored a run, but it could have been a bigger inning.
Colorado 3-A's 0. Carlos Gonzalez RBI double, top of the 6th
Epale, y'all. Should we be winning this game?
Yes, we should.
Epale, Orel!
DIY Loney!
OMG it's Simon & Garfunkel!
This is the scariest GBA I've ever heard.
Not a good rendition of GBA today. The girl who did the anthem and GBA last night was great, though.
Eight outs left.
Ugh. Weak inning.
I'm not gonna miss Pierre that much after a terrible at bat like that.
JP is just in love with swinging at the first pitch and grounding out.
Wow, nice play by Casey.
Giants won. Rockies are about to win.
Food mojo didn't work today. I'm going to try watching the game for a change.
Haven't lost two straight series since last august.
I hate that we're only going to be .500 in interleague play. It supports the notion that we're mostly beating up on weak teams.
Our lead over the nl west could potentially be under 5 when manny comes back. That's a little depressing.
This team has gone lifeless.
I'd be lifeless too if I had to play in this heat.
Josh, maybe you should eat another meal or two before the bottom of the ninth. You never know, it might help.
Well, that was ugly.
I'm full! I love this team, but I'm not going to risk a full reversal for them.
It's up to Loney, Martin, and Kemp. Oh boy.
Russell Martin = warning track power
Ugh. PGT up.
Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. They keep playing like this and the Rockies are going to steamroll them.
Back to being on the brink of losing three in a row. Although if we keep only winning every third game that's not much of a record.
