Clayton Kershaw/Kenshin Kawakami was stellar tonight, holding the Braves/Dodgers scoreless over seven innings and allowing only two/four hits. Kershaw/Kawakami struck out ten/four, but the Dodgers/Braves couldn't get their starter the win. Ronald Belisario (activated from the disabled list)/George Sherrill/Jonathan Broxton/Kris Medlen did his job with a scoreless stint, but Guillermo Mota allowed a walk to Adam LaRoche and a home run to Kelly Johnson. A ninth tenth-inning rally came up short, and that was all she wrote.
If you hadn't noticed, the Dodgers no longer have the best record in the majors, and the Giants are 5.5 games back of them. Welcome to the dog days of August!

Tenth-inning rally
Thanks, corrected.
Every great team goes threw a slump. What we need is the dodger blog equivalent of a slump buster
Through damn I hate the iPod spell check where are those directions
5.5 game lead.
and cain is pitching tomorrow so there's a potential of a 4.5 game lead with a series with SF coming.
yikes. especially since we got lince
"What we need is the dodger blog equivalent of a slump buster."
Start posting blogs with the same style and content Plaschke would use?
Remember when we had the best offense in the league? I miss that.
start my homie juan tomorrow
we're gonna need manny in SF. hopefully he's not sucky up there
My bad, thanks for doing the pgt Orel. Running from chore to chore....
Okay Bill Plaschke would write "kershaw can hold a team scoreless but can he win it in the 10th when a real ace would be still be pitching and willing the offense to score a run"
Just heard Stults will be called up to pitch tomorrow.
Wow, Steve Lyons kind of pointed the finger at Larry Bowa there.
Yes, Stults tomorrow.
This team has not been good at home ever since that record start.
I started to type several different seemingly analytical, insightful comments but erased them all. They either weren't as such, or just didn't matter at this point. Instead, I'd just say:
Mother FN shit, what the living fuck are we doing not being able to drive in a miserable GD run with Kemp on 3rd and no outs? My old granny, or a random Santa Monica Blvd tranny, could get that job done.
I'm sending myself to bed with no Scotch.
That was poetic, DB!
Here's something positive:
If, at this time last year, the Dodgers had a 5.5 game lead over the DBacks, we'd have been dancing in the streets.
Perspective: It's not just for breakfast anymore.
I'm not worried... yet.
