Eric Stults (4-2, 4.80) vs. Javier Vazquez (9-7, 2.99).
COMMENTS: The Dodgers are 6-10 in their last 16 games, and it doesn't get easier after today. Tomorrow they enter the unfriendly confines of AT&T Park, followed by a trip to Arizona. Both the Giants and Diamondbacks are 7-3 in their past ten games. Oh, and Albert Pujols and the Cardinals come to town after that. Followed by the Cubs.
But first things first. Stults will try to help the Dodgers salvage a series split against Atlanta today, but Vazquez, who trails only Tim Lincecum with 164 strikeouts on the season, will try to continue to take advantage of a struggling Dodgers offense.
You know what would be nice? One for the road. Let's hope the Dodgers turn their frowns upside-down and board that charter with a one-game win streak.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 285 of 285at least we are going to lose in regulation.
I had "How's your boy Vazquez now, Vin?!?" typed out and ready to roll in case E hit it out.
Sorry if jinxed anything.
Not as much strain on the bullpen as the last two losses.
Man we must be facing smoltz Maddux and glavine
It's a damn good thing there's a football game today to cheer me up.
don mattingly's soul patch just got a little more grey.
I hope Vazquez goes for the CG.
No Vazquez in the ninth.
"Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?"
Here's some crack reporting from the official Dodgers website...headline says:
"Dodgers' rotation remains in flux"
this is all stults' fault, if he only could of pitched a CG shutout we would have this thing in the bag right now.
i think tron needs to go on the DL
Hope Tron forgot about last night
At least this game won't feel so tantalizingly close.
Tron is waning.
he sure didnt.
Troncoso is bad
Raffy saves a run...for now.
That does it.
tired arm. his BAA in august is 385, and growing.
Game over, man.
Hook please!
They should have left Shaggy in.
If science ever reaches the point where they can do instantaneous arm transplants, will they be allowed in MLB?
This is Gagne - game over.
See you at PGT.
Let's wait until science reaches that point before we discuss it. Let's not put the cart before the horse.
the game was really over like two innings ago anyways when the paint fumes wore off.
Dodgers: 3-1 against Braves with Chipper in the lineup.
W/O Chipper: 0-3
Giants lost.
Ergo, we own Chipper Jones.
its a little sad when all you have to look forward too is the giants losing.
We didn't want a cheap 3 run comeback anyways This needs to be big to break the slump
and just like that we lost the season series to the braves.
@ Nic J-
Or all one has to cling to is the MFPGT.
Dodgers will score three in the ninth to make it interesting.
we are turning into last years angels, just a little earlier.
It's just a bump, they deserve we give them more credit.
at least it wasnt on two outs.
Maybe prince fielder put a curse on the clubhouse
This why you don't score 17 runs in one game. Math.
11-13 since the allstar break is a pretty big bump.
get it all out guys.
Kemp still determined to show the fans a good time.
3 runs won't even make it interesting. How sad
@orel, whats left of them anyways.
I thought they got it all out last week.
Right, Nic. No fireworks after the game.
If the bullpen goes to crap. Lasorda help us
Kawakama, Kawashima, it's all good.
torre is going to need something a little stronger than green tea after this game.
Let's hope manny gets going in the bay
im not sure if its a good thing that we are going up against the giants 4,5, and 1 starter with the way we have been hitting against scrubs lately.
McCann. "throw strikes!"
all we need is two grand slams to win it.
It's a start
@Nic j: all of them...and us
Back-to-back singles down seven in the ninth! Kind of sums it all up!
Can we focus on the positive? Manny is getting back to himself.
Lose to Sanchez and Martinez and beat Lincecum?
Cheer us up, Karina!
WE GOT ONE!!!
DP scores a run. We are totally primed to win this game.
It's a finish
@orel, i would bet money on it.
Six-run HR, Russ!
How come we couldn't score two runs in regulation last night? What the hell is wrong with us?
Peeps:
I'm in the SF and the Gnats just lost to the Reds. Life is good.
Going to the game tomorrow. I'll be giving updates as we go. Right now, we're chillin at the Phoenix Hotel in the Tenderloin.
Too funny, Nic.
Way to represent, Rbn!
Three-run HR brings us within three! We've got 'em right where we want 'em!
@Orel: last year around this time, the team was dreadful. We shouldn't panic yet, because it's normal they have slowed down a little bit. Then, we could consider as good other NL West teams can play, they still have more holes than the Dodgers.
What is cox doing? It is Loretta!
True, Karina, but getting Manny changed everything. We're stuck with the lineup we've got.
can we re-trade for manny?
Maybe if we put him on waivers it'll be like getting him all over again.
Anything good on waivers maybe?
Unusual to lose the bat after making contact.
check his fingers for pine tar!!
Difference-making pitchers? Doubt it.
MFPGT up.
@Orel: don't underestimate faith. They'll get back to their amazing selves.
I hope!
Christ, what a trainwreck for the Blue today.
If I'm Torre, the doors are closed and there's an ass-rippin' coming for this team. The Gnats are ripe for a beating.
Luckily, we won't see Cain or Timmah tomorrow. I'll be there representing for my SoSG peeps.
BTW, SF has great bars as I've been reaffirming.
Remember, you are undercover.
@Orel:
MFPGT? Jeez, what's with the anger?
But then, I've been drinking at the best bar in the Tenderloin.
@Orel:
Ha! We were cheering the last out of the Gnats game. . .then saying, "Oh, Damn!" It was funny.
