Help on the way...
Nothing like a good Grateful Dead reference, intentional or no, to start our Friday.
@dusty
This season has been a long, strange trip.
Thursday, we were a team occupying a Brokedown Palace. But will last night's emotional win have us Doin' That Rag this weekend?
Jury still out on whether we're Built to Last.
Son of a nutcracker, I wish we'd have had this the other day:

@Dusty: HAHAHA! That's awesome!
Andre's hitting for power AND average. I do believe I have the vapors.
lordy I really hope this gets us going. positive momentum has been is seriously poor supply this year
When I first saw "Carroll" on the back of the jersey in that picture, I assumed this was one of those insert-your-own-name-into-the-photo type of deals. (To be fair, Carroll went an admirable and surprising 2-for-4 with 2 R (though he also couldn't get to the ball that would have kept Prince Fielder from scoring the tying run in the top of the ninth)).
@Sax: That Counsell hit was a mess. Carroll made an admirable dive for it and DeWitt backed him up properly. If it had gone past Carroll instead of taking that flukey bounce off his glove, DeWitt would have had Fielder nailed at home. And I think they were both thrown off by Brox's awkward lunge to try and barehand it.
What should happen in the coming days:
-Weaver returns, Ortiz DFA'd.
-Manny returns, GA DFA'd.
-Furcal returns, Nick Green erased from history.
What will happen, sadly:
-Weaver returns, Ely optioned.
-Manny returns, XPaul optioned.
-Furcal returns, Nick Green just optioned, not erased from history.
@Josh S: You're right, maybe I'm being too harsh on Carroll, who technically scored the winning run. I'll back off...`
@Sax: Oh, you can still be mean to Wide Eyes, but he's going to be with us for two years. You way want to spread it out a bit.
My daughter is terrified by James Carroll.
I'm only terrified when he grins.
Neeebs, wait til you get to the Yard and see the huge column wrap featuring Carroll. It's truly scary. His eyes are scary and it's scary that he is worthy of a column wrap.
I didn't notice on Opening Day, but do they still do the closeups of the players' eyes on the ribbon board when they walk up to bat? If not, it's probably because there wasn't enough room for Carroll.
Josh, not practicing what he preaches.
