Blake DeWitt had a pair of triples, the latter of which was a two-run job in the eighth inning that scored Manny Ramirez from second (Ramirez had reached on a leadoff double) and James Loney from first (IBB). Casey Blake's double in the first also scored two runs, and RBI from Loney and Jamey Carroll notched six runs for the Dodgers across eight frames.
But like last night, the story tonight wasn't the offense, but rather the starting pitching. New starter John Ely continues to amaze, tonight with a seven-inning, five hit, two run (2 ER) and 8 K evening. Oh, and his third straight walk-less game brings his streak to 19.2 IP. Jeff Weaver, George Sherrill, and Ramon Troncoso closed out the last two innings, and the Dodgers' win streak extends to eight games, with a chance to slip into second place tomorrow irrespective of the outcome of the Giants @ Padres game (Padres lead 3-1 in the eighth (update that was the final score)). Way to go, Dodgers!

Yay for wins!
Hooray, us!
Wins are cool.
Winning is all the whole battle.
Wandy Wodriguez the woser.
Okay, let's go for the SWEEP tomorrow (these two-game series are ridiculous).
Go for the kill tomorrow night.
Who is in the Yard tomorrow, BTW?
watching Ely's K montage, he has a wee bit of a Carlos Perez-like move at the end of some of those Ks
i could get used to this whole "winning games" thing.
I like, nay, LOVE winning streaks.
Hey Gints,
Can you hear us knocking?
this is only a two game series? had no idea.
Bobblehead night tomorrow and i will be in attendance.
nicJ, I would really really like to get there too, but I will have to pick up my ticket on the fly...
3-1 going to the ninth
Love to be at tomorrows throw-down, but it's not to be
Unofficial official bobblehead roll call:
I'll be in Loge 160.
shoot, I wanted to pick up a super-cheap ticket since I can't stay and I only want the bobblehead. Stubhub starts at $35. I'm priced out.
Nice. Post-Game Show shows the Brad Ausmus chyron to lead into Russell Martin's lone hit, extending his streak to 12 straight games.
Even Lyons makes fun of the error.
what the hell is this freecreditscore.com crap. "Chances someone will win the triple crown in the next five years: 650"
What the hell does 650 mean?
Aubrey Huff reaches base for the Giants to lead off the ninth, down by two runs.
Hopefully this game will go to 43 innings
Sax, throw your blogger weight around and get yourself a ticket.
Section 47RS, Row O, Seats 18 - 20
Sax if your in two super last minute, try stubhub 2 and a half hours before gametime. Prices start dropping like crazy because of the two hour cutoff.
@sax
650 is the police band code for crimes against statistics.
Dusty: Noted. I'll head up there at some point tomorrow night. Probably can't rely on the cell service, so I'll just surprise you like Opening Day.
Reserve Level section 33 with La Raza.
Damn, I hate getting home late, I'm just hitting my stride
Aaaahh!!! Prime Ticket froze on Carly Fiorina!
Hell yeah, Nic.
@Josh

Can't spell "Hell Yeah" without the "Ely."
Playing COD MW2 now. Layers
I was going to play COD but after Ely pitched world peace broke out.
#Elymania.
Ely will stop big government fat cats.
Layers?
Like flaky biscuits?
Like chubby chic?
Like what Michael Bay movies don't have?
Like onions and ogres?
Man. Dodgers win, Lakers win, and I'm still in such a pissy mood... this must be what PMS feels like.
Sorry, i meant "laters"
Josh S, where are you in Arkham?
Elymania is taking over the Blogosphere and Twitterverse!
The Most Interesting Man in the World from Dos Equis was just quoted as saying, "This guy is good."
@Dusty
Just enjoy the ride Captin Ely is our guide. Next stop number 9.
@Sax
Bunch of Laters haters.
@Paul: Ely's pitching again on no days rest for #9? that seems a little much, but okay....
This is a very bizzare thread. Eclectic and random all in one. And here I am, post hockey game, adrenline rush not letting me sleep. Go Blue.
@Sax, 10:50pm:
I'm on my way to Killer Croc, but I'm stuck on the stupid level where the gargoyles have explosives on them. I have over-relied on them up until now, so I kind of suck at other stealth methods.
The win was awesome and the energy Ely brings to the stadium is clearly palpable! He is a fun guy to watch when he warms up. I'll be there section 47FD Row B. @Sax, worse case scenario I can call the rep and ask if he has any top deck or LFP tickets available?
@Sax
Ely will start all three games against the Yankees.
I bought tickets to one of the games in Boston and we still managed to win. I was sure I would jinx us!
will be at the game today, sec 108, row b&c, seats 1-2, come by and enjoy a victory knot with me
@Josh S 5:57a: if you're talking about the gargoyles in the big room with the guard tower in the center, there are some key tunnels you can hide in under the tower. Same for the greenhouse.
@Betsy 6:42a: how cheap, and can they be electronically delivered?
@Sax, 1:42: Yep, big room. I figured the tunnels would be key, I just keep screwing up the "pop out and incapacitate" part.
