After a week, SoSG Smonkstakes seems to have become a two-man battle of wills: Mr F vs MLASF. There are only 180 episodes of Seinfeld and around 13 hours of Star Wars footage, so this'll have to end sometime.
Here's a graph of the comment distribution (747 comments total in Week 1):
And remember - your level of past participation has no bearing on future likelihood to win. So break the duopoly and jump into the Smonkstakes!

One of the top 5 things i love about this blog: Eric Karros graphs
Exactly@EK. I'm just waiting patiently to strike!
Thanks Karina!
Meanwhile, Greg lurks in the shadows waiting to smonk-block both Mr F and MLASF. I like it!
180 episodes, with 22 minutes each episode, equals 3960 minutes.
6 Star Wars films at about 150 minutes each equals 900.
I clearly have an advantage.
Does Smonk have his JD? Having a simian consigliere might be useful...
@MLASF
There's a significantly higher percentage of dialog per minute in Seinfeld, as well.
Mr C - he's taking the monkeybar next week.
Since this has gotten lost in the comments of the main thread, I thought I would repost it here.
Has anybody seen the Skittles Tubesock commercial? I wonder who would win in a Smonkey-Tubesock battle. Tubesock definitely has a command over static electricity, but Smonkey can ride a jetski
@FB - no question, The Smonkster all the way. Totally different leagues and not even close.
@EK - refresh my memory. I thought the point of Smonkstakes was not the volume of comments but more of a test of time. Are we not counting on a sense of growing apathy among SoSG readers? I thought the objective was to see who makes the last comment with a 48 hour time lapse?
Oh well, brain cells come and go but fabulous is forever!
Skittles Tubesock is way more creepy. And unlike Smonk he (it?) has no game with the ladies.
BTW I love the way you felt the matter was not getting the attention it deserves in the main thread (I totally agree).
Meanie - that's correct, volume of comments does not matter - it's persistence and willpower.
I do think comment frequency will dwindle. Time will tell (not sure what caused the May 22 surge).
Nonetheless, according to the rules someone can swoop in while others are napping and swipe the bacon.
Granted, everyone else would have to be napping for 48 hours.
"I do think comment frequency will dwindle. Time will tell (not sure what caused the May 22 surge)."
UEFA discussion.
Yup, rbn and I were double dipping that thread as a Inter-Bayern GT.
I may have to run WC game threads over at my place if none are forthcoming.
I agree with Josh that over time the frequency may dwindle but will it ever stop? SoSG readership may have been underestimated for tenacity, passion, or as some might say their obsessiveness.
We'll put up WC GT's (for US games)
@EK
Aye, there's the rub.
