Scoreboard Watching: There Is Nothing To Watch Today (May 24)

I don't like two-game "series", and I don't like days where there are only four games playing (almost 75% of MLB teams are idle today), there is only one NL game playing, and it doesn't involve an NL West team anyway. (Plus, the Lakers aren't playing tonight.)

I hate interleague play.

If you're really desperate, you can watch an epic battle of third-place teams, Bluejays at Angels, at 7p. Brett Cecil (3-2, 4.98) takes on "Colonel" Joe Saunders (3-5, 4.42). I'd suggest going to the game, but why waste gas money today, when going to the game tomorrow nets you an Angels Garden Gnome? Cancel all my meetings, I'm taking tomorrow afternoon off!

Angels have some wacky giveaways, like Kids' Pool Raft Night!

At least they didn't do the Giants' "wearable blanket night" (which is basically a Snuggie, but they're too cheap to get the rights to the trademarked product).

Little fella looks weird disguised as an Angel.

Embarrassing.

Boston and TB worth a peeky.

Dusty Baker said...

TB has a giant tank with live marine rays swimming in it that fans can reach their hand in. Just seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

If you say "lawsuit waiting to happen" 3 times Milton Bradley will appear.

Dusty Baker said...

So will RB.

Duke: [to Apollo] You're the Man. You're number one. The Champ, the best of all time. Girls love you - Men, old people love you. Young people love you. You're the best. You're the Man, and he's yours. He's yours, he's yours. This bum shouldn't be in the same ring with you. I want you to show him who you are tonight. Show him who you are tonight. Stick him!

This non sequitur Rocky moment was brought to you by Dodger off days. This probably belongs on that other thread.

@DB is that the Steve Irwin Memorial Ray Tank?

FB! Nice.

Somebody say, "lawsuit?"

Sax,
The Angels did have a Snuggie give away. They were Matsui Snuggies at that.

Say, they giving away garden gnomes and I'm originally from Garden Grove.
Coincidence? I think so.

Angels always have strange giveaways. Though I don't think anything tops the Carlos Pena toothbrush holder.

This is a truly desolate travel day

Dusty Baker said...

Angels biggest giveaway was this offseason, where they parted with Figgins, Lackey, Vlad, etc. and still expected to be remotely successful.

Snap!

Where's Delino with a post to gloat about his beloved Flyers? Is he soaking in the triumph (aka getting ridiculously hammered)?

@MLASF

He's probably out trying to climb a greased light pole on Broad St.

I mean it's driven me to reading od stories like this; I'm not actually doing it.

Celtics losing in OT. Yawn.

Paul said...

Actually this has been a great game.

Dusty Baker said...

This OT is the longest OT in the history of the NBA (it seems that way, at least). Just shoot me.

Mr. LA Sports Fan said...

I wonder if Bizzaro-Plaschke is writing an article right now about how the Celtics can't finish.

Paul said...

Orlando wins. One step closer to Dodger baseball!

Tonight would have been a perfect night to replay the Lima NLDS game.

Betsy said...

Ha! Angels stadium utterly dead tonight-makes me smile.

Dusty Baker said...

It wasn't only the stadium that was dead, Betsy. So were Angels' bats and pitching arms.

Which makes me smile.

Just to illustrate how something so insignificant can grow into something so huge, "Ray Allens Mom" is now the #1 trending topic in America.
