Post-Game 36 Thread: Claymation

DODGERS 4, PADRES 1

When Clayton Kershaw gave up a run in the first inning, it looked like he might be feeling a little Pokey tonight. But dad-Gumb, he settled down and ended up going seven innings, allowing only three hits and that one run, using 110 pitches.

James Loney kick-started the offense with a home run well over the 400-foot sign in right field, and later Jamey Carroll and Russell Martin added RBI singles. When Garret Anderson hit an RBI-triple in the sixth inning, you knew things were really going the Dodgers' way. Tron-Tron pitched a scoreless eighth, striking out two, and Jonathan Broxton needed eight pitches to close it out.

And all this was accomplished without the services of the red-hot Andre Ethier, who hurt the pinky finger on his right hand during BP. True Blue LA notes that Xavier Paul was pulled from the Albuquerque Isotopes' lineup in their third inning tonight, which means Ethier could possibly be headed to the DL.

Aside from that, life is improving rapidly for Dodgers fans — six victories in a row, and seven of the past eight, all against NL West opponents. LeBills versus LeBlanc tomorrow as the Dodgers go for another LeSweep.

UPDATE: From @jillpainter:

Bad news for Dodger fans. #AndreEthier has a fracture in his pinky. He'll see two doctors, including a hand specialist, in L.A. tomorrow.

5-0 in road games called by Vin. Just sayin'.

I'm starting to think there's a bobblehead night curse.

On the upside (for me, anyway), Ely is pitching that night.

In other news, I got tickets for Dodgers/Angels. However, I'll be in section 58. I might as well just stay home and watch the game on TV.

That is fukin shitty news re E.

Somewhere out there Kobe is calling Dre a wimp.

Just one broken finger?

Kyle Baker said...

This win is tainted by Dre's injury, coming on the heels of his Bobblehead night to boot. Booooo-urns!

:-((

So Andre can't just put on a splint?

Paul said...

Andre with a break....right or left hand?

I knew my scotch sense was tingling.

Paul said...

Right at least it was the right. Should be a quicker comeback depending on where the break is.

RT @TrueBlueLA Xavier Paul was hit by a thrown ball before @ABQTopes gm tonight, complained of headaches; that's why he was removed (not Ethier related)

"I knew my Scotch sense was tingling"

Kyle Baker said...

I will be complaining of headaches soon, too.

Why don't we wait for the doctors' diagnosis and just then, we freak out?

Guys from dodgertalk just went over the whole tony jackson matt kemp thing.

They said he is off base and it sounded like he had a vendetta against him.

Paul said...

@Sax

You drink the west bank scotch, I'll take on the Islay and may God be with us.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

@Nic - Elaborate for me. They said whom was off-base, and whom had the vendetta?

NicJ said...

Tony Jackson was off base. They didnt use the actual word vendetta but alluded to it.

"I dont know if matt kemp wronged him or something"

Neeebs (The Original) said...

Jackson said that Kemp was being divisive in the locker room. Of course, he didn't name sources.

NicJ said...

Levine added that when the whole Ned comments came out the whole locker room rallied around him too.

Neeebs (The Original) said...

Jackson's one Rude Boy.

Mr. LA Sports Czar said...

This whole Kempgate thing is getting complex.

First Ned goes on radio and calls his poor play out, a very stark contrast to his usual course of praising positives and ignoring negatives.

Then Tony Jackson criticizes Kemp's character on a chat of all places.

Steve Sax said...

Rihanna just tweeted that Kemp leaves the seat up sometimes.

Steve Sax said...

Greenpeace just criticized Kemp for not braking for animals (bison awareness-building efforts notwithstanding)

Headless Horseman said...

Matt Kemp is the reason I lost my head!

Damn Dance off.

Man on the street update:

Several glasses of kick-ass (red) zinfandel in the Urban Grill in Gas Lamp District. Most restauranteers are top class and are glad to have Blue business as long as folks are classy. Took advantage of my boyish charm to get fairly huge pours for my drinks.

Up in the Hotel Salomar now. Mrs Dusty and her sis are fading, but I'm ready to go down to the rooftop lounge. Need some Scotch. I've got the greenlight and have all the paperwork to get the top shelf in honour of my impending 40th. Might as well take advantage.

Dusty out (for the moment).

xxxooo

Neeebs (The Original) said...

KershawKemp just called and wants to change his "handle" to just Kershaw

Paul said...

Damn this scotch is smokey no thanks to that Kemp guy I hear he created Zima

Josh S. said...

I want to know how someone other than Superman goes "down to the rooftop."

Nostradamus said...

Hey, haven't seen old HH around here for months!

Paul said...

Too funny Josh.

Paul said...

If the HH is in the house you know it is a party.

Steve Sax said...

Kemp was apparently seen doing a rolling stop last night at a residential stop sign.

When will this man's transgressions end?
