Chad Billingsley (2-2, 5.06) vs. Rodrigo Lopez (1-1, 4.14).

COMMENTS: It was an Iron Man kind of weekend:
- "Iron Man 2" (capsule review: great start, disappointing finish) made $133.6 million.
- Iron Man Shogun Rua needed only 3:35 to KO the previously undefeated Lyoto Machida to take the UFC light heavyweight championship.
- Clayton Kershaw threw 73 of his 117 pitches for strikes, going an Iron Man-esque eight innings in which he allowed two hits and struck out nine.
Question is, can Billingsley follow Kershaw's smash with a worthy sequel performance of his own? Or will Arizona's bats right-hook him out of the game? Although Billingsley allowed four runs in the first inning of his last start, he stopped the bleeding and managed to make it through the dreaded sixth inning. The Diamondbacks just got swept by the Brewers, allowing 26 runs in the process. The situation is ripe. Here's hoping Chadley can say to the Snakes, "You complete me!"*
Also: Lakers go for the sweep of the Jazz at 7:30p PT on TNT. GOPAG!
*Not even in the movie, by the way.

Shit much like my bowling night this might end with me talking to myself wasted.
5 straight balls from Belly.
Rancho Ardiendo and i don't like it
I wish belisario would go back to Venezuela
@Paul
Sounds like a good bowling night!
MLASF, you're on 200 so much you need to start paying rent.
Vin called belly's ERA ocho oucho. Nice.
Run for an out. I'll take it.
Speaking of venezuelans, why don't they use Monasterios instead of Ortiz?
I just keep passing Go, Orel. The 200s are part of the package.
I always defer #200 to MLASF out of respect.
Crisis averted. Bills still in line for the W.
Escape!
Isn't Torre back to using Monasterios out of the pen? Any thoughts, MLASF?
Whew!
Those "Fisher Lied" t-shirt [word I can't say on here]s need the living shit stomped out of them. How can you poke fun of the man's daughter's cancer?
Stay classy, Utah.
I think Monasterios is the emergency long-reliever. Weaver can't go too long anymore, and Ramon is starting this weekend. He's the backup; the Ex-Wife, if you will, only hopefully everything he's hyped to be. Not like the real Ex-Wife. The real one blows.
I wanna a Manny Jack!
There are a lot of frustrated white people in Utah right now.
Yeah, those chastity rules do that, Orel.
Weaver can't go long anymore? Too much weeeed.
I'd be frustrated if I had to live in Utah, too.
Monasterios can be a reliable starter, specially on those NL West pitchers' parks. He should have the kind of role that Weaver had last season
The problem is that Monasterios is too inexperienced. Torre hates inexperience.
Come on Belly - Tell those DBacks to SCREW YOU!!!

(doesn't he look like Benny from Total Recall?)

He's inexperienced on the MLB but Torre is overlooking his experience on winter baseball where he pitches every kind of batter: from rookie to MLB players, surrounded by harsh and loud fans everywhere. He can do better if they give him the ball.
I finally knew a trivia answer!
Congrats, Josh. What was the question? and the answer?
Can Belly 1 just throw the damned ball for a strike here and there to calm me down?
I am not sure if I want monster just comming in tough jams ala weaver. He might be weathered with experience but he needs to start innings.
just out of the 7th and the Dodgers keep the lead, still i'm not sure about this game
Karina: "Who was the last pitcher to throw a perfect game in the National League?"
Answer: Randy Johnson for Arizona
Karina said "still i'm not sure about this game"
What passes for pessimism for Karina!
I am still not sure about the next five seasons.
Phiwwy 5-5 Rox in the 9th
I love these perfect games because some people speak about Sandy Koufax and the mention of his name brightens the moment
6 outs to go, boys in blue!
What a wasted out
Koufax probably had the best perfect game (if that's possible) because the Dodgers had just one hit and one run.
Those poor Utah fans will have to go home to their wives and drown themselves in 3% beer.
Ha, ha!
@Dusty it's weird they are actually winning this game, with the very impatient at-bats. Besides they are winning for a couple doses of power, including the (not now) rare King James power demonstration.
Exactly, Mr LASF. That game should be in the top 10 of the best MLB games in history.
Let's go Hunchy!
@MLASF
The fans at that game must have been torn between the excitement of the perfect game and the excruciating lack of offense.
My father in law says that is the perfect metaphor for that era of Dodgers baseball.
How much better would we be and have been if Kuo could stay healthy?
I love how sax won't go to the other side waiting for the outcome of the game. Stay with us!
@Sax
Plus there's actually no jazz to be listened to.
@paul at least the bullpen could get more balance and rest. Just sayin'
Kuo K's Reynolds, and on a breaking ball.
HCK just naaasty tonight.
Phiwwy up 6-5.
If we can hang on tonight, we can help ourselves out in the NL West vs Pods & Jints (idle) and Rox.
That's Mr Kuo if you're nasty!
Nice inning!
Kuo shuts them down in the eighth. 4-2 dodgers, going to the ninth
Was it really THAT nasty?
Wow, that Corona ad is soooooooooooo intelligent and clever, turning the 8 into an infinity sign! How novel!
Yawn
@Karina
Yeah, his pitches were sick tonight. Even the camera person was fooled.
Karina, I'm at the other side now. And it involves shoes off, my living room television, and a 4-2 lead by the dodgers
9th inning? Howry doing?
As long you don't leave us, Sax.
Bomb one Dre
Are Giants fans still deeply in love with Howry's strong chin and sexy changeup?
Whack! You da man.
Dre day!
Dre rips one into the corner, second double of the day for Andre
Dre is a beast.
Dodgers fans holding fleece blankets in the stands
Andre is just sticking it to Kelly now.
Manny IBB
Utah chipping away. Down by 13.
E is hitting out of his mind
@Sax
Are they those kind of blankets Josh showed us earlier today?
Jazz within 8
It's ok Vin, you can knock on Jamey Carroll.
I was just about to type the same thing re Carroll.
You guys went blanket shopping?
@Paul
They were having a big white sale at Towel World.
Loney Geico! 5-2 Dodgers
James!!!!!
Looooooooooooneeeeeeeeeey!
FJL with a key insurance run! 5-2 LA!
FJL FTW!
Loney be crazy.
Utah within 6
King James, in play (runs)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both Vin and Charley were, separately, laudatory of Carroll tonight. Let the propaganda campaign begin...
Are the suits giving Vin and Charley notes now or something?
Chinface provides more insurance!
Whenever we lament the one(s) that got away, we have to remind ourselves of Andre Ethier.
Dodgers now up 6-2!
We sure are doing a lot w 2 outs tonight.
In the time it took me to go explain to Mrs. S what happened after Ethier's at-bat, Blake had an RBI. Wild.
Did we find a bullpen below our standards?
Two-out madness!
The good kind!
More two-out goodness!
Last season they did a lot with 2 outs. That's a nice custom to pick up now.
Will they still praise Carroll after this at-bat?
If I was a Snakes fan, I'd be pretty frustrated right now.
But I'm a Dodger fan, so I'm stoked!
Jamey Carroll, target of many commendations, flies out to end the two-out rally and cement an 0-fer day.
Somewhere out there, Sons of Mark Grace blog is blowing up with comments about how bad the Snakes' pen sucks and how Ethier is always a killer vs them and how they strike out too much, etc. Makes me feel thinking about how bad those Sons must feel.
@Josh S. 9:29p: hopefully, not.
Sorry, Wide Eyes.
Yikes, here's Reed Johnson.
Is a five-run lead really commanding this year?
Took away Brox's save opportunity, though.
Kobe slipping into Assassin Mode.
This is not a good use of Troncoso, but I'm not as pissed about it as Chad from MoKM.
"The bullpen can't get any worse"
Sign held up by fan re Snakes' pen, per Vinny
Dodgers fail to clear the Johnson in this game.
Lamar pushes it back to 12
Is anyone ever as pissed about anything as Chad from MoKM?
Four-pitch walk by Tron....
OK, I'm getting pissed.
Johnny Ryall up.
MSTI gets pretty riled up too.
Get the 27th ASAP!
Hey, Troncoso: the idea is not to give Broxton work tonight.
7-3, no out
Everyone gets pissed at everything except the Sons. That's reason #47 why I love it here.
How did walk+single=run? I looked away.
Lakers by 13 after 3qs
Young took second on DI.
Broxton warming up in outer space.
Tron recovers with the DP. Nice.
I get plenty pissed about a lot, but the moderators don't. That helps maintain peace.
It's a win. High fives everyone!
@MLASF
That's a good point. We get mad at suckiness, and can be critical, but overall just enjoy the game. I don't know if those other fellas ever enjoy a game. It's always just everybody is so wrong and this players if awful and Torre is stupid and have you seen this obscure metric to show how bad so and so is...I wonder if they can even enjoy a game?
Let's hope an LA victory over the team from Arizona is a foreshadowing of things to come.
A win!
A road win!!!!!
Love the avatar, MLASF!
@Dusty - Agreed. The most important thing about baseball is enjoying the game. Everything else comes in a distant second.
I enjoyed this game. Nice start to the roadtrip!
Patrick O'Neal looks like he's about to cry when Steve Lyons asks a question to Andre Ethier.
No kidding, Sax. I thought those two were going to get in a catfight over who got to ask the questions.
Lakers by 17, 10:20 left
I thought Steve Lyons was going to interview Patrick O'Niel about interviewing Andre.
One thing pundits have forgotten is our ability to slaughter division rivals. We're 7-3 against the west so far.
What was Shannon Brown thinking there?
watching baseball like this makes the worknights so much more bearable!
I don't mind the sloppy play. Jazz know it's over, why shouldn't the Lakers?
HFYPGT Up.
@Mr LA SF 9:45p: since we've only won 70% of our games vs the NL West, Tim Kurkjian believes we have poor NL West winning efficiency.
Good night everyone!. I'm sure the Lakers will win tonight and it's gonna be a great night for LA sports teams.
Sleep tight!
HHPGTUP
(Hubba-hubba Post-Game Thread up.)
Sweet dreams!
MLASF is quicker on the draw.
I sometimes get mad, but then I swear a lot and then I feel much better.
I bet Papi's dad has a lot more advice to tell him
