Freitag Anmerkungen

  • Yes, the Dodgers are now looking outside the human species to advertise the team. Horsing Around (dodgerbobble)
  • The Dodgers jumped nine spaces in SI.com's Power Rankings! Of course, that still leaves them in the bottom half of the league. MLB Power Rankings
  • Chris & Alex of dodgerfan.net took a road trip to Chase Field in Phoenix. What they found should make us Dodger faithful appreciate what we have. Road Trip! Dodger Fans Represent at Chase Field

Thanks for the link.

Once the Dodgers are done putting the Padres in their place this weekend, I think the they'll move up in SI.com's Power Rankings.

Went to a reading for Josh Wilker's Cardboard Gods book last night. It was affiliated with No Mas, the clothing company who gave us the Dock Ellis LSD No-No video. It was a pretty cool affair, with Josh reading a few chapters from his book and then finishing with a bubble blowing contest (I didn't win)

Freulich Freitag für den Volk!

I now know the combination of shame and exhiliration that EK must feel after posting a particularly debilitating puzzle.

Have fun DB!
I get to go to a wedding in Florida this weekend. It will have to be free liquor and ESPN alerts to get me through

And Ken Rosenthal gives us this gem. In his article about people that could be traded this season, he mentions Cliff Lee, finishing with this line:

Then again, putting Lee back on the market would have great entertainment value, if only to see the Dodgers whiff on him one more time.

FB: Blond Ethier was definitely dreamy. But I can't believe they went with Kemp as Lando...

Mr C: Yes, that was definitely debilitating. Glad to hear you're feeling a combination of shame and exhilaration!

Nice find, J. Steve. Too bad it's not embeddable.

Excuse me, but how the fuck did the Dodgers "whiff" on Lee?

Indians wanted the moon, the stars, and Vin Scully for him, so Ned told them to fuck off. Then they turned around and took prospects from Philly. Doesn't sound like "whiffing" to me.

Or am I thinking of Halladay?

Whatever. They wanted more than we were willing to give up.

Consensus was that Cleveland was in love with Philly's prospects, who were closer to the bigs then our prospects.

The whole Ben Francisco thing is what pisses me off about the trade, but everyone already knows that.

It's definitely not a "whiff" when the price was so high. And of course, Seattle will want a high price given what they spent to get him...

Checking in from Rock Bottom Pub in SD. Plenty of Dodgers hats already noted on the streets. I think we'll be well represented this weekend.
