Poll: I've always wondered this...

Who was the better pitcher?

Randy scared the crap out of John Kruk during the All-Star game one year with an over-the-head fastball that hit the backstop. He was just messing with Kruk and kept a straight face the entire time while Kruk put his helmet on backwards, then tried to bat from the right side of the plate. That's why I voted for Johnson.

Wow, this is a tough one. Maddox was clearly the better "pitcher" and Johnson was a better "thrower."

In the end, Johnson was dominating and intimidating in his day, much like ol' SK of the Dodgers. So RJ got my vote.

Both are going in on the first round.

Wow. Andre Dawson gets in, but Blyleven and Alomar don't.

Dawson - 77.9%

"Better" is in the eye of the boholder. Their tools and styles of pitching couldn't be more different. One is the prototype for control and finesse, the other is the prototype for power.

If I have to pick, I'll go with Fanerman's logic - one played for the Dodgers, the other retired a Giant.

Yes, Randy could intimidate from the mound. But Greg could intimidate rookies in his own, unique way.

I'm going with Maddux primarily because his 1994 and 1995 seasons were two (or one and two-thirds because of the strike) of the best pitching seasons in baseball history.

It also doesn't hurt that he was a Dodger.
