Primer: Advanced Stats

If you're like me, you're a handsome devil. But you're also occasionally overwhelmed by the plethora of advanced statistics that have cropped up recently, with new formulas seemingly being created every season. But fear not, because the gurusphere has got you covered. The good folk at True Blue LA and Big League Stew have put together a series of explanatory posts for Joe Blogfans like us.

Hey, I know what OPS+ is, but the rest of that statistic gobbledygook is just that. . .gobbledygook.

No wonder Mark Twain had a distaste for statisticians.

Hey, DB and Mr. C: Arsenal fans for a day tomorrow?

One thing I've noticed about this offseason is that it's moving quite quickly. Not like last year, where Teixeira and CC were gone before January, and everyone else went a month later.

That being said, sucks to be Orlando Hudson, Orlando Cabrera, Erik Bedard, Jarrod Washburn, Jermaine Dye, Russell Branyan, and of course, Johnny Damon.

Oddly enough, after the Reds, I'm a huge fan of whomever is playing Man U.

Here's hoping RVP tramples them under his mighty hooves.

Mr. C-

RVP is out on extended injury leave.

Horrible defence today from Gunners. Yikes, RB.

@db

I guess I don't make much of an Arsenal supporter.

This is a pretty tough stretch of the season for the Gunners.
