Pineiro Comes To Los Angeles!

...however, it's not with the Dodgers...

Free-agent right-hander Joel Pineiro agreed Wednesday to a $16 million, two-year contract with the Angels, sources told ESPN's Buster Olney.

Pineiro is due to take a physical Thursday.

Pineiro, 31, pitched a career-high 214 innings over 32 games last season, with a 15-12 record and 3.49 ERA for the National League Central champion St. Louis Cardinals. He has an 87-79 record with a 4.39 ERA in 10 major league seasons that also included a stint with the Red Sox.

He joins a rotation that includes holdovers Jered Weaver (16-8), Joe Saunders (16-7), Scott Kazmir (10-9) and Ervin Santana (8-8).

The Mets and Dodgers were teams that were also believed to have interest in Pineiro.

So the Angels lose John Lackey and gain Pineiro. We lose Randy Wolf and have gained....hello? Ned, are you there?

You are a cruel bitch for leading me on like that (re: headline). First thing I saw this morning, and I almost spilled my coffee. Then I almost threw it.

I don't think the Angels were exactly crying over the loss of Lackey. Hopefully Pineiro can add some swing (no pun intended).

Hey, what can I say? I like both LA teams.

My guess now is that the Dodgers try to replicate last year's Manny debacle with...Ben Sheets?
